NEWS
--The Little Falls Fire Department responded to three incidents the past few days. Around on 1:45pm Monday there was a grass fire south of highway 27 that firefighters quickly extinguished. On Tuesday they responded to a four wheeler rollover with a gas leak. No one was believed to be injured. Around 6:20pm Tuesday a kitchen fire was reported at 715 11th Street Apartment 23 at the Cynthia Andis residence. Cynthia was making dinner for her children when the power went out causing the burners on the stove to turn off. During Tuesday's power outage, a child of Cynthia had a medical issue so she left her home and brought her child in for medical attention. While Cynthia was gone, power was restored and turned the burners back on with no one home. This lead to the kitchen fire. 25 firefighters were on scene for around two hours. The fire was contained to the kitchen. There were no injuries. Little Falls Fire Chief Mike Nieman told Little Falls Radio that even though this is something he had not come across before, it is a lesson we can learn from. If the power goes out, make sure to shut things off before leaving the home in case power is restored while you are away.

--A traffic stop in Foley over the weekend led to the arrest of two men, one on charges involving a stolen gun. Benton County stopped a vehicle driving erratically in Foley Saturday afternoon. When the deputy started the stop, they noticed the smell of marijuana and alcohol coming from the car. Both the driver, 23-year old Nathaniel Golterman of Foley, and 18-year old Derian Gordon of St. Cloud admitted to drinking. The deputy also found the remains of a marijuana cigarette in the vehicle. Golterman's license was also found to be invalid and he did not have insurance on the vehicle. Gordon told deputies he had a pistol in his pants leg, and they removed it. They found out it was stolen after checking the gun's serial number. After searching Gordon, 15 Xanax pills were found as well. He and Golterman were both taken to Benton County Jail. Golterman was later released after a test proving he was just under the legal limit. However, Golterman was cited for careless driving, driving without insurance, driving without a valid license and possession of a small amount of marijuana in a motor vehicle. Gordon was booked on charges of possession of stolen property, carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a pistol under the influence and 5th degree controlled substance.
