NEWS
--A man was hurt in a crash on Highway 10 near Royalton. The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened at about 11:20pm Tuesday. A pickup driven by 52-year-old Erik Palmquist of St. Paul was pulling a junked Tahoe going west in the right lane. A car driven by 24-year-old Christian Tveit of Blaine was also going west in the right lane and struck the Tahoe. Tveit was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with his injuries. Palmquist and his passenger were not hurt.

--Morrison County Public Health announced Wednesday that they will have another COVID-19 vaccine clinic for the general public next Wednesday May 12th from 1-3pm. The Moderna vaccine will be administered to any adult 18 years of age or older. Registration is required by calling Morrison County Public Health at 632-6664. No walk-ins will be admitted. At the time of registration, residents will will be scheduled for their second dose that will take place Wednesday, June 9th. The vaccine clinic will be located at the Morrison County Government Center in the Garden Level.

--An Albany man is dead after crashing his motorcycle Saturday. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office got a 911 call around 3pm for a motorcycle crash with injuries. The crash happened just outside of Albany on County Road 54 near the intersection with Quaker Road. The sheriff's office says 52-year-old Troy Karger was heading east on County Road 54 when he failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, and struck a fence. Karger was dead at the scene.

--Emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle personal injury crash Sunday at the intersection of Highway 371 and Nisswa Avenue in Nisswa. The Minnesota State Patrol was called at 12:45pm to the crash involving Mariah Jo Hines, 28, Breezy Point, who was driving a Honda Pilot north on Highway 371 in the left lane, and Gary R. Fredrickson, 80, Minneapolis, who was driving a Ford Taurus west on Nisswa Avenue. The two vehicles collided. Nisswa Avenue is a one-way allowing eastbound traffic only, the state patrol reported. Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd.

--Erik Saagi of the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls announced that due to state restrictions, all State Cemeteries will not have public events for the Memorial Day weekend. That also means for the second year there will be no large public Memorial Day Weekend program at the State Cemetery on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. There will be a State Cementery program like just year that will air on Public Television channel TPT out of the Twin Cities on Memorial Day check your listings. Saagi did state that the cemetery is open to visitors and will be open for visitors that weekend to view the graves at the cemetery but the large public program will not happen.

--Jackie Devine spoke on KLTF Wednesday about the Morrison County Run for Fun Race Challenge. Starting June 19th with the River Rat Race at Belle Prairie Park, then July 4th in Bowlus for Bowlus Fun Day, July 31st in Royalton for Platte River Day, August 14th in Upsala during their Heritage Days, Horizon Health 5K on August 28th during Pierz Oktoberfest Weekend and ending with the Lindy Run September 18th in Little Falls. If you compete in all 6 races Jackie said a nice prize is being put together for that. There is no fee to sign up to be part of the race challenge from the Race Roster website however each site does have a different person of charge of the race or listen for more details on those items when the race dates get closer.

--Governor Tim Walz at noon today will announce plans to wind down COVID-19 restrictions. A statement from the governor's office says Walz will announce a timeline to end all COVID-19 pandemic restrictions while continuing the push to increase the number of vaccinations. Walz has said Minnesotans should expect a normal-looking summer if 70% vaccinated Minnesotans is reached.

--Morrison County Public Works would like to remind farmers that row cropping within road right of way is illegal. State law prohibits plowing, tilling and/or planting in the right of way except for the preparation of the land for planting permanent vegetative cover. We want to prevent any situation where crops block motorists’ vision, create erosion concerns or other safety issues. As the weather permits this week, crews are working on culvert repair on CSAH 26 west of Royalton and on CSAH 34 south of Little Falls. Maintenance crews will continue crack sealing this week on County Road 282 north of Little Falls. Flaggers will be controlling traffic as one lane will be closed. Crews will be graveling roads in the southeast part of the county. Please use caution around work crews and flashing lights.

--After a year of cancelling all concerts and recitals, St. Francis Music Center is happy and excited to present an outdoor spring concert on the beautiful grounds of Linden Hill Historic Estate in Little Falls. Live music is back and open to all. This free, outdoor concert will be Wednesday, May 19, from 6-8pm. In case of rain, the concert will be the following Wednesday. This concert will feature several ensembles from the Music Center. St. Francis Preparatory Orchestra, under the direction of Melissa Von Itter, will delight the audience with familiar tunes. St. Francis Concert Orchestra, directed by Olivia Munson, will play Linus and Lucy, Alexander’s Rag Time Band and two other pieces. The concert is free and open to the public. The public is asked to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. Attendees are asked to be considerate and maintain 6 feet of social distance from other groups. The concert will also be live streamed on the St. Francis Music Center Facebook page. This concert is made possible, in part, by the voters of Minnesota, through a grant from the Five Wings Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
