NEWS
--A Sartell man died Tuesday afternoon after lying down on railroad tracks and being hit by a train, according to a press release from Sherburne County Sheriff's Office. The man has been identified as 35-year old Matthew Delong of Sartell who reportedly crashed his car into a power pole about 2:15pm near the intersection of Highway 10 and 42nd Street Southeast near Cable south of St. Cloud. The release said "the man then exited his vehicle and went onto the train tracks where he was hit by a train." It also noted the man laid down on the railroad tracks. There were traffic delays on Highway 10 at the time of the incident. About 3:10pm, Minnesota Department of Transportation tweeted Highway 10 was closed in both directions between St. Cloud and Clear Lake "due to a serious crash." About 6:50pm the department's website showed lanes had reopened.

--A Pillager man is dead after a pedestrian versus car crash on I-94 East near County Road 81 in Rogers. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the incident happened around 2:00pm Tuesday. A pickup hauling a trailer, driven by 30-year old Oscar Siguencia-Orbe of Minneapolis was heading east on I-94 when he slowed for traffic through a construction zone. Siguencia-Orbe was rear-ended by a single axle Kenworth truck driven by 47-year old Tate Doom of St. Paul Park. According to the patrol, Siguencia-Orbe's pickup spun out into the construction lane, hitting two vehicles and pedestrians. 59-year old Vernon Hedquist of Pillager was hit and died on scene. 64-year old Thomas Wood of Maple Grove was also hit, but suffered non-life threatening injuries and was brought to Maple Grove Hospital. No one in any vehicle was hurt in the incident.

--The Todd County Sheriff's Office responded to the 20000 block of 360th Street for an accident last weekend. Upon investigation, it was learned that a two year old child was playing in a 2004 Dodge pickup alone when the vehicle was put in gear and ran over the leg of 31-year old Kyle William Klein while he was changing a tire on farm equipment. Klein was taken to the Long Prairie hospital with injuries. He was later transferred to St. Cloud for additional treatment.

--Two dogs were found dead in a Stearns County ditch after being shot over the weekend. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says they received a call of two black labs found in the ditch off Lovell Lake Road, in the Lovell Lake Wildlife Protection Area. The caller told deputies he was in the area around noon Saturday and did not notice anything out of the ordinary. He returned to the area hours later to look for a hunting spot, when he noticed a wide trail off the side of the road and found the dogs. It's believed the dogs were left between 12 and 2pm. Saturday. Police say they also found remains of two other dogs and a cat in the same area. The dogs were taken to the University of Minnesota for a necropsy. If anyone can claim the dogs, identify the owners or have information about the incident is asked to call the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.

--Bremer Bank announced they are closing their location inside the Coborn's store at 110 1st Street South in Sauk Rapids on December 28th. Bremer will still have banks in St. Cloud and Sartell.

--The St. Francis Convent and First Lutheran Church will host the Blessing of the Animals on Sunday at noon at Washington Park in Little Falls. The program at noon is a chance to bring your dog, cat or other animal if you so desire to get a blessing and treat after the short service. The event is free of charge on Sunday.

--The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office was notified 49-year old James Richard Ardito escaped from custody on Tuesday from Residential Reentry Office in Minneapolis. Ardito was convicted of the armed robbery of the First National Bank of Deerwood, Garrison Branch which occurred in September of 2007. He was scheduled for supervised release, but escaped and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. He is known to abuse drugs.

--The wet weather is far from done. The National Weather Service is forecasting another 2 to 6 inches of rain by next Wednesday. Rain is likely tomorrow night and could mix with snow, more showers Friday night, again Sunday night and yet more rain next Tuesday and Wednesday where areas from St. Cloud to Rochester could be looking at over 4-6 inches, St. Cloud north to Bemidji, including Little Falls is in the 2+ to 3+ inches of rain by middle of next week.

MLB= Major League Baseball's average attendance dropped 4 percent to 28,830, its lowest since 2003 after 14 consecutive seasons topping 30,000, and six stadiums set record lows including Target Field which had the lowest attendance in the history of Target Field that opened in 2010. The average is down 14.4 percent from its high of 32,785 in 2007. It had not been that low since 28,013 in 2003.
