--A Sauk Rapids man with a record of gun charges in St. Cloud has pleaded guilty to manufacturing firearms without a license. U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger announced that 21-year-old Jay Olson engaged in the manufacture and sale of firearms between the fall of 2021 and April of 2022. In April, a law enforcement confidential source met Olson at a home in Waite Park. Olson sold the informant 16 unserialized guns, also known as “ghost guns”, nine high-capacity magazines, a silencer, an auto-sear, and other accessories. A search of Olson’s Sauk Rapids home found tools, firearm assembly kits, and assembly diagrams. Olson pleaded guilty to one count of willfully engaging in the business of manufacturing firearms without a license. Olson was already facing gun charges stemming from an incident where he allegedly fired shots in an alley in downtown St. Cloud in May of 2021. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled at a later date.

--The Benton County Sheriff's Office has posted information on fall hunting seasons. The most frequent hunting-related complaint fielded is trespassing. It is best to always obtain permission before accessing the land of another person and to know the boundaries of the land for which you have permission. Under state law, permission must always be obtained before accessing agricultural land regardless of whether that land is posted or not. The fall harvest season has arrived. The people who bring us our food are putting in the long hours harvest time requires. Expect to see more tractors, combines, and other farm vehicles on the road over the next few weeks. When you encounter a farm vehicle, please give them some extra room and use caution when passing. And now that Fall is here and Winter is coming. Now is the time to ensure your vehicle is prepared to safely transport you across the challenging Minnesota winter roads. Tires are the most important winter driving safety feature on your vehicle. Bad things happen when your tires lose their grip on the road. State law requires at least 2/32nd of an inch of tread on your tires. At a minimum, your tire tread should reach to Abe Lincoln's hair on a penny inserted into a tread channel. Take a look at your tires today and make sure your vehicle is ready for the cold and snowy months ahead. Those were posted by Benton County Sheriff's Office.

The company’s support could possibly grow as the Category 4 storm hovers on the brink of being classified as a Category 5 hurricane. The line workers are from Minnesota, Colorado, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Dakota, South Dakota, New Mexico and Texas. “When the call for help comes in, Xcel Energy and the entire electric industry answers that call,” says Bob Frenzel, chairman, president and CEO of Xcel Energy. “When our customers experience adverse conditions, we know that they would do the same for us.
