NEWS
--Little Falls Community Schools Wednesday announced they have received a Emergency Broadband Benefit, an FCC (Federal Communications Commission) program to help eligible families with connectivity support during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Emergency Broadband Benefit is an FCC program to help families and households struggling to afford internet service during the COVID-19 pandemic. This new benefit will connect eligible households to jobs, critical healthcare services, virtual classrooms, and so much more. The Emergency Broadband Benefit will provide a discount of up to $50 per month towards broadband service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price. The Emergency Broadband Benefit is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household. --Little Falls Community High School is also getting ready for Homecoming next Friday October 8th at the Flyer Football field with events planned for next week at the school. High School Principal Tim Bjorge will be the guest on AM960 KLTF Monday at 8:15am to discuss the latest at the high school and homecoming 2021.

--St. Cloud Police are looking for one of the drivers involved in a crash Wednesday morning. Police say it happened at the intersection of County Road 75 and 33rd Street South. Authorities say they are looking for one of the drivers who fled the scene on foot. The intersection was closed due to the accident into the afternoon.

--A Clear Lake deer farm is one of two Minnesota deer farms that received animals from a Wisconsin farm where chronic wasting disease was discovered last month. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says the Clear Lake location received three deer from the Wisconsin farm in the fall of 2017. Two of those animals were killed in early 2021 and no chronic wasting disease was detected. A third deer is still alive and the owner is awaiting payment before making the animal available for testing. The Clear Lake herd is also quarantined. The other deer farm was in Stillwater, where two deer were received. That farm is now out of business and those animals were transferred to a farm in Grand Meadow, Minnesota. The deer were then transferred to a Wisconsin farm.

--Enbridge says the upgrade and expansion of its Line 3 pipeline across Minnesota is complete and will become operational on Friday. The Canadian-based company's President and CEO Al Monaco said in a statement Wednesday that the pipeline will soon deliver the low-cost and reliable energy that people depend on every day. The project was completed despite stiff opposition from tribes, environmentalists and others. The line starts in Alberta, Canada, before crossing North Dakota and Minnesota en route to Enbridge's terminal in Superior, Wisconsin.

--The Rice Police Department's new headquarters has arrived. Crews moved the building onto it's new foundation behind city hall Wednesday morning. Many saw the large building being moved which did slow some traffic for a time. The building was donated to the city by a local business earlier this year.

--Little Falls City Council meets Monday at 7:30pm at LF City Hall.

--Swanville High School announced their candidates Wednesday for this year’s homecoming royalty. Candidates for queen are Mackenzie Morris, Laurelle Domaika and Tyra Powell. King candidates Cooper Thieschafer, Shane Lambrecht and Nicholas Mettler. Coronation will take place Sunday night at 7pm and activities are planned for the entire week. The homecoming game will be Friday, October 8th at 2:00pm in Upsala, where the USA Patriots will take on the Browerville Tigers. The game will broadcasted live on Q92 WYRQ and streamed online at fallsradio.com.

--At 10:45pm Wednesday, September 22nd the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of State Highway 210 and Beaver Creek Road for an UTV rollover crash. Prior to Deputies arrival, they were advised that the passenger later identified as 28-year old Jeffie Michelle Cleys, was taken by a third party to Central Minnesota Regional Medical Center for minor injuries. Deputies made contact with the driver of the UTV at his residence. The driver 32-year old Kevin Edward Diehl Jr. informed the deputy that he was driving the UTV in the ditch on the south side of Highway 210, traveling eastbound. Diehl went on to inform the deputy that while doing so he caught the pavement with the tire which caused the UTV to tip onto its drivers side.

NATIONAL NEWS
--New service changes within the United States Postal Service could impact when mail and other items reach your door. Starting Friday the USPS says service standards for First Class Mail and periodicals like magazines will go into effect. While the postal service says most First Class Mail and periodical mail won't be affected by the changes, items traveling farther distances are expected to take longer to deliver. The USPS says FCM that would previously take three days to deliver could now take up to five days to land in your mailbox. However, FCM traveling within a three hour drive between the original sender and recipient is still expected to take two days or less.

TWINS= Polanco's 3 run homer in the first was all the Twins needed to win 5-2 over Detroit last night. Twins try for the sweep as they host Detroit in the final home game of the season at Target Field pregame at 6pm on Q92 WYRQ. Twins in KC tomorrow night.
