--At 6:04pm Saturday the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two-vehicle accident with injuries near the intersection of Partridge Road and 93rd Street, approximately four miles east of Buckman, in Morrill Township. According to the Sheriff’s Office, 17-year-old Kayla Barthel of Foley, was traveling south on Partridge Road and 63-year-old Sharon Talberg of New Brighton, was traveling west on 93rd Street. Barthel failed to yield at the stop sign and pulled out in front of the vehicle driven by Talberg. Barthel’s vehicle was hit on the driver’s side in the intersection. Barthel was transported by Mayo Clinic Ambulance to St. Gabriel’s Hospital with unknown injuries. Talberg and her passenger, 61-year-old Darvin Kapsner of Hillman were also transported by Mayo Clinic Ambulance to St. Gabriel’s Hospital with unknown injuries. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Pierz Fire Department, MLMB First Response Team and Mayo Ambulance.

--Motorists should plan for heavy traffic volumes and congestion on Highway 371 and other Brainerd lakes area roads in Crow Wing County. With some local roads closed for construction and more than 100,000 visitors expected to attend the 40th annual Lucas Oil National Hot Rod Association Nationals race at the Brainerd International Raceway the week of Aug. 15, more congestion is expected in Brainerd and Baxter than during past event weekends. Motorists planning to travel in the Brainerd/Baxter area should be patient, expect delays and extra law enforcement, consider staggering their travel times and watch for slow traffic on Highway 371 and other area roadways. Recurring congestion and occasional stop-and-go traffic is expected on Highway 371 between Brainerd and Nisswa. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes, if possible. Also be aware of these area state highway projects: Highway 371 east of Gull Lake, Brainerd, work Highway 371 east of Gull Lake, Brainerd, Work operations will suspend between Gull Lake Dam Road (Crow Wing County Road 125) and Green Gables Road (County Road 126) by early afternoon Friday until Monday morning. Though off-road may occur. BIR is located within this work zone area. Those traveling through the area should expect orange barrels, equipment and changes to access. MnDOT advises motorists to stay out of closed areas and do not remove any traffic control devices. Business Highway 371, Brainerd is closed south of Greenwood Street to Buffalo Hills Lane/Industrial Park in Brainerd. Detour uses Highway 371 to Baxter, Highway 210/Washington Street back to Business Highway 371/S Sixth Street. Access open to those who live, work or visit those along the work zone. --Don't be alarmed if you see several emergency vehicles at a Sauk Rapids elementary school on this Tuesday night. The Sauk Rapids Police and Fire Department are holding a training event from 5pm until 9pm at Mississippi Heights Elementary School. Every year the department's hold an annual training event to prepare for incidents that may occur at schools or other locations throughout the community. If you have any questions you're asked to contact the Sauk Rapids Police Chief.

--A reminder that the Jazz Authority event fundraiser is this Thursday starting at 5pm at Great River Arts, tickets at greatart.org or by contacting the Art Center at 320-632-0960.

--Chuck Justin filed for the position of Alderman at large for the Little Falls City Council on Monday. This seat up for election is currently held by Brad Hircock. So far Chuck Justin is the only one to file for this particular seat which represents all three wards of Little Falls. Today is the deadline to file in political races without primaries.

--The Swanville Bulldog Volleyball Team has decided they would like to try to raise money to support the fight against cancer. In the past few years alone their community has been rocked by Cancer. This terrible disease has affected us all in some way and we want to work to join the fight against Cancer. The team is selling tshirts that you can choose the Cancer a ribbon you would like displayed on it, to show a form of Cancer that has in some way affected you or your loved one. 100% of the profit from these shirts will be donated to an organization working towards finding a cure and medical advances towards the diggs against Cancer. The team stated they have only a few days to order due to the print deadline available. Once you have ordered your shirt they would like you to join them and pack the gym for a cancer awareness night. (Game date to be announced) and show your support. --It is less than 1 month before students get back to school. Join each of the Morrison County Superintendents on AM960 KLTF Community Program starting on August 29th. Monday, the 29th will be George Weber of Pierz Schools, Vern Cappele of Upsala on Tuesday the 30th, Wednesday the 31st Dr. Kristine Wehrkamp of Royalton Schools, Thursday September 1st the new Little Falls Schools Superintendent Gregory Johnson and Friday September 2nd the new Swanville Schools Superintendent Travis Hensch. The program will be heard each day at 8:30am on KLTF and online at fallsradio.com.

Avon vs. Fairmont is Saturday at 11am in Dundas, Pierz Lakers vs. Watkins at 4:30pm Saturday in Faribault folllowed by Buckman vs. Cannon Falls Saturday at 7pm in Faribault, with all 3 games live on AM960 KLTF and online at fallsradio.com. Nisswa that won the Region 8C Baseball Tournament will play on August 27th at 11am on KLTF.
CLASS B= Sobieski opens the Class B State Tournament Saturday afternoon vs. Blaine winner moves to next weekend action.
NFL= Vikings lose 26-20 to Raiders Sunday, the Vikings next preseason game is vs. San Francisco Saturday at home at 6pm.
