--The son of a former NFL lineman accused of killing his parents in Minnesota has been extradited from Mexico. 22-year old Dylan John Bennett was booked into the Todd County Jail early Monday. Bennett was arrested for second degree murder at a hotel in Cancun Saturday. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney. Barry and Carol Bennett, both 63, were found fatally shot last Wednesday at their home in Long Prairie. The criminal complaint says Barry Bennett told the Todd County Sheriff's Office in December that Dylan had expressed thoughts about killing his parents while he was in a mental health treatment facility.

--At 4:21pm Friday the Morrison County Sheriff's Office received a report of an ATV accident with injuries near the intersection of 170th Avenue and the Soo Line Trail, approximately 3 miles north of Royalton, in Bellevue Township. According to the Sheriff’s Office, 50-year old Kevin Kleingartner of Princeton and 49-year old Shanon Kleingartner of Princeton were driving separate ATV’s along the Soo Line Trail, traveling side by side. At one point the two ATV’s collided. Kevin Kleingartner who was not wearing a helmet was thrown from his ATV. Kevin was transported by ambulance to St. Gabriel’s Hospital with unknown injuries. Shanon Kleingartner was not injured.

--Authorities say a freight train struck and killed a man over the weekend in May Township. The Cass County Sheriff's Office was notified Saturday morning that the train hit a person who was walking on the tracks west of Pillager. Deputies and first responders arrived and found a 36-year-old man dead at the scene. The train crew also saw a 50-year-old man in the area. The man was taken to a Brainerd hospital with minor injuries. Reports say authorities did not say how that man was hurt or if he was hit by the train. Names of the men were not released. Authorities don't know their addresses. Investigators from BNSF Railway are assisting with the investigation.

--A reminder to residential households in the community that the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility located at the Morrison County Solid Waste Management Facility (SWMF) will be closing on Monday, September 30, 2019. Residents with HHW that they’d like to dispose of this year should deliver it to the facility prior to the closing date. The rest of the landfill facility is open year-round, however, the Saturday Summer Hours, 8:00 am to 2:30 pm, from Memorial Day to Labor day will be coming to an end, returning to the 8:00 am to noon Saturday schedule. Persons with questions may call the Morrison County Landfill at (320) 632-1944.

--A homeowner interrupted a burglary at their property in the middle of the night, and although the suspects attempted to flee, authorities caught up with them. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 12:44am Friday placed by a resident on the 15000 block of Nokay Lake Lane in rural Brainerd. The caller reported people were actively breaking into a garage on the property. The homeowner yelled at the suspects, who then left the property in a vehicle. Deputies responded and a short time later located and stopped the suspect vehicle, which then fled. A chase ensued until the suspect vehicle was stopped in Riverton and all occupants fled on foot. Two suspects a 30-year old woman and a 37-year old man, both of Brainerd were apprehended a short time later and were transported to the Crow Wing County Jail. The sheriff’s office reported it believes other suspects are involved, and the investigation continues.

--Blood drive at St. Francis Convent today from 12-6pm walk on in.

--The Pierz School District is holding an open house and tour of the constructed Pierz Healy High School and Pioneer Elementary which is now one building on Friday starting at 5pm. Those who want to see the work that has been done can come to the High School parking lot and get in the main doors of the high school to start the tour at 5pm. This will be done before the first Pierz football game of the year that night against Foley at 7pm. There will be refreshments available. The open house is free to come and view the work that has been done during the spring and summer months in Pierz.

--Stearns County on Sunday around 5:30pm received a 911 call reporting a motorcycle crash at the intersection of River Street and 4th Street West in the City of Holdingford. The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved. Deputies arrived on scene and found that Benjamin Michael Scegura, age 22, of Avon was traveling eastbound on River Street and was driving his 2014 Yamaha motorcycle. Scegura told deputies that he hit a puddle of water causing him to lose control of the motorcycle and lay it down on its side. Scegura was not carrying a passenger at the time of the crash, nor was he wearing a helmet. The crash investigation determined that alcohol was a probable factor. Scegura was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.

--Two people were hurt in a crash in Stearns County Saturday evening. The incident happened just before 5:00pm at Highway 23 and Interstate 94 in St. Joseph Township. The Minnesota State Patrol says an SUV was going west on Highway 23 and making a left turn onto Interstate 94 when it was hit by a car going east on Highway 23. The driver of the SUV, 65-year-old Ruth Lyon of Melrose, and the driver of the car, 22-year-old Gavin Hoffmann of Paynesville, were taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

--A St. Cloud man was hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Friday morning. The incident happened around 8:30am at the intersection of 10th Avenue and West St. Germain Street. The St. Cloud Police Department says a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Antonio Evans, was going west on West St. Germain Street when it entered the intersection on a red light and hit a vehicle driven by 59-year-old Michael Paetznick of St. Cloud that was going north on 10th Avenue. Authorities say Evan's vehicle then went over the curb and crashed into the U.S. Bank building. Evans was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of a medical condition authorities say may have contributed to the crash. Police say he was also cited for a red light violation and no proof of insurance. Paetznick was not hurt.

--A reminder that the open house for Mary of Lourdes schools in Little Falls is on Wednesday elementary school PreK through 4th grade 7-8pm, middle school is 5th and 6th grade 6-7pm and 7-8th graders 7-8pm. There will also be an open house and picnic from 5-7pm on Tuesday night at Holy Trinity School in Pierz.
