–A pedestrian was killed in a crash in Mora Monday morning. The Minnesota State Patrol says 36-year-old Alicia Storms of Mora was on Highway 65 at the Snake River Bridge near the fog line when she was struck by a car. The vehicle was traveling south on the highway just after 5am when the incident happened.
–Minnesota has reported 622 new cases of the coronavirus Monday with 2 new reported deaths linked to the virus. The Minnesota Department of Health says there were 14 new cases in Stearns County Monday, 11 in Sherburne County, two in Benton County, Crow Wing with 7, 2 in Todd and Mille Lacs with 1. There was no new reported cases in Morrison County still at 83 total cases.The number of people in the hospital remained the same as the day before at 302, and the number of people in the ICU went up by four to 153. The number of people no longer in isolation is at 49,565 with the total number of positive cases up to 56,560, so the number of active cases in the state is now at about 5,400.
–On Sunday morning at approximately 7:30am the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office responded to a hazard call near the Community Country Church in Holdingford. A passerby saw three cattle on the lawn of the church and believed they could become a hazard to traffic on County Road 17. The deputy located the cattle upon arrival and was able to move the cattle to a nearby farm with the help of local residents. Residents had checked around the area and were unable to determine where the cattle came from. The owner of the farm was able to make accommodations for the cattle and advised he would keep them safe for the time being. As of Monday morning the owner of the cattle has not come forward to claim the animals. The cattle are described as three bulls being a mixture of tan, brown, and white in color with short horns.
–In a boost to raise dairy sales, the dairy industry is bringing back their slogan “Got Milk?”. Six years after the popular tagline was retired, Got milk?” ads are back. The dairy industry is reviving the campaign hoping to prolong the U.S. sales boost milk has gotten during the pandemic. From January through mid-July, U.S. milk retail sales were up 8.3% to $6.4 billion, according to Nielsen. During the same period last year, milk sales were down 2.3%. The dairy industry says kids are eating lunches at home and adults have more time for breakfast and cooking with milk.
–The next 2 weeks would have been a very busy with County Fairs this year with Benton, Stearns and Crow Wing this week and Mille Lacs and Morrison County Fairs next week. All this year are cancelled due to the restrictions on COVID-19 and hope to be back in 2021.
–Congratulations to the Royalton Lions Platte River Day raffle winners drawn on Saturday in Royalton (no other events this year). The top prize winner was Lori Pekula of $5000, 2nd place to Don Dubbin for $2,500 and third place to LT Thompson for $1,000. –The Little Falls FFA Chapter is planning for the 90th Anniversary Open House on August 23rd from 1-4pm at the Little Falls High School Ag Department. They ask for you to please park in the staff/hockey parking lot and the doors to the schools there. All current, past and supporters of the Little Falls FFA Chapter are welcome. The FFA is planning a light meal or refreshments to be served but this is still being worked out of the COVID-19 restrictions at this time.
–Morrison County Maintenance employees will be installing turn lanes at the intersection of CSAH 34 and County Road 237 east of Buckman. Flaggers will be present at the work site. Crews will also be installing center line culvert on County Road 241 southeast of Pierz. Public works will be out mowing roadside ditches around the county. Please use extra caution around mowers. A Public Works Contractor will be finishing up spray patching various roads around the county this week. Please slow down around all work crews and be aware that loose material may be present in driving lanes during some of the maintenance activities. Public Works employees continue to practice social distancing guidelines in their travels and on the various job sites as they continue to preserve Morrison County infrastructure.
–Mall of America announced Monday that Nickelodeon Universe will be reopening their amusement park inside the large mall on Monday, August 10th. There will be rules as the park can only have 250 maximum people, there be only one entrance into the park, guests must purchase the one ticket for two hour access to the park, masks are required for all over the age 3 to enter the park, with the exceptions of health issues.

–On Monday It was reported that 7-11 owners have purchased the Speedway Gas Station chains and also the Marathon gasoline brand names of stores for $21-billion dollars. No word if this will mean name changes to the franchises around the state of Minnesota.

Twins and Pirates again today with a 12:30pm pregame on Q92 WYRQ. Then Wednesday and Thursday they area at Pittsburgh to finish the home and home series.
