--A Crosslake woman, accused of torturing her three young children, now faces an additional criminal charge of felony first-degree premeditated attempted murder. The Crow Wing County Attorney’s Office on Friday filed an amended complaint in the criminal case against Jorden Nicole Borders. Borders was initially charged with three serious felony counts of child torture and three felony counts of stalking following a child maltreatment investigation by the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation revealed Borders allegedly tortured her three young children through actions like withdrawing blood, forcing them to wear casts and neck braces despite not having injuries and inflicting frequent physical abuse as punishment. Friday’s amended complaint, in which Borders was charged with attempted murder, stated Borders in late 2021 messaged a friend claiming she was planning for the death of one of her children because they could not be treated by medical professionals. The speculation then came that this was something Borders had planned for some time, leading to attempted murder charges along with the child torture charges in Crow Wing County.
