NEWS
--Nature Road in the city of Royalton on Monday started a detour around the railroad tracks for Burlington Northern Santa Fe to conduct track and crossing repair. Motorists over the next days are urged use caution in this work zone and abide by the traffic control devices. The work is estimated to be completed by end of the week.

--Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl reported around 1:30pm Saturday a tree fell on someone near Kimble Shores Drive in Ideal Township. Responders arrived and found an adult male had died from the injuries sustained. The name of the person is being withheld pending notification of family members.

--The ROCORI School District has a new leader for their future, Brad Kelvington will take over the role of superintendent. In May, the school board hired the firm School Exec Connect to help them search for their new superintendent. The Edina based firm has completed over 50 candidate placements over the past few years. The firm received 26 applicants for the ROCORI position, of which six were interviewed last week. Kelvington, currently the Superintendent of the Aitkin School District will be entering contract negotiations with ROCORI after the board voted unanimously Friday evening to pick him over two other finalists. He says he's "very excited" to join the ROCORI community. He spent 11 years as Principal of Foley Middle School and has 28 years of education experience. Board Chair Kara Habben says Kelvington fit the profile they crafted for their next superintendent extraordinarily well. Kelvington takes over after long time superintendent Scott Staska resigned after his arrest for indecent exposure.

--An Arizona teen had to be airlifted after being pinned under an ATV after a crash in Acton Township Friday. The Meeker County Sheriff's office says the incident happened around 9:30pm Friday in the 54000 block of County Highway 23. They received a call from 9-year old Tyler Schindewolf of Cosmos saying he was trapped under an ATV with his cousin, 14-year old Sabrina Miller, who was not breathing. According to authorities Miller had been driving the ATV and turned too sharply causing the rollover. Miller was airlifted to HCMC with critical injuries. Schindewolf was brought to HCMC by private party.

--Two people from Burnsville were hospitalized after being hit by a distracted driver on I-94 in Monticello Saturday. The Minnesota State Patrol says around 10:00am, the pickup driven by 31-year old Juan Camacho was heading west on I-94 when he slowed for traffic. Camacho was rear-ended a car driven by 29-year old Adam Keagle of Battle Creek, Michigan. Camacho's pickup rolled as a result of the impact. Camacho and his passenger, 41-year old Mary Rennie also of Burnsville were taken to Monticello Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Keagle and his passenger, 28-year old Ryan Riley were hurt but not hospitalized. Keagle was cited for texting while driving.

--An 81-year old from Isle was injured in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 27 east of Isle Sunday just after noon. Dorothy Scott was turning into a driveway and was struck by a pickup from behind driven by Mark Leinonen of Montrose. Leinonen was not hurt. Scott was taken to an area hospital and treated for injuries.

--The Upsala Upstage Players present “Wizard of Oz” Friday, Saturday and next Monday nights along with Sunday afternoon at the Upsala High School Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at the door for each of the shows in Upsala. More details at fallsradio.com.

--A St. Cloud man faces four felony counts of criminal sexual conduct on suspicion of sexually assaulting and stalking a 15-year old girl he was entrusted to have a "parental role" over. 55-year old David Edward Lenarz Jr. faces two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the second degree with a victim between 13 and 15 years old, one count of soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct and one count of stalking. He made his first court appearance on Monday morning. He remains in Stearns County Jail. Bail set at $100,000 with conditions.

--Assault charges have been filed against a St. Cloud man for allegedly beating up a woman and throwing her so hard against a wall that it fractured a vertebra in her neck. St. Cloud Police were called to the St. Cloud Hospital emergency room early Friday morning on a report of a domestic assault. Police arrived to find the woman with bruises on both sides of her face and wearing a neck brace. The woman told investigators that she was assaulted by 26-year old Randy Wade. Wade and the victims are household or family members who have a child in common. The woman said she was holding their son and on the phone with her grandmother when Wade came into the bedroom, got angry, grabbed the phone and threw it, striking the child in the face. Wade then allegedly threw her into a wall so hard it broke the drywall. Wade is accused of punching the woman multiple times in the face. When a friend came over, the woman said the assault stopped until Wade brought her into a bathroom, punched her again and "head-butted" her. The woman suffered multiple bruises and a fractured vertebra in her neck. The child also had significant bruising on the face and around the eye. Wade is charged with felony 3rd degree assault and three counts of domestic assault within 10 years of a previous assault conviction. Wade has a prior Stearns County conviction on 5th degree assault from 2016.

--Little Falls Police were notified Sunday of a social media scam going around the area. A reminder to never give out personal or financial information by email or over the phone unless you made contact with the business first or made sure the email in question was legit.

NATIONAL NEWS
--The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is alerting health care professionals and patients of a recall of several drugs that contain the ingredient valsartan. Valsartan is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure, according to the FDA. Patients who are taking one of the recalled medicines should follow the recall instructions that are provided by the FDA's website.
