--Edina Realty, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate and the largest residential real estate company in Minnesota and western Wisconsin, announced that it is expanding into the Little Falls market with its acquisition of New Horizons Realty, Inc., located on Highway 27. Edina Realty CEO Greg Mason said the company is excited about the opportunity to be a part of the Little Falls community. “We’re extremely pleased to welcome New Horizons Realty—who have been mainstays and leaders in the Little Falls area for 20 years—to the Edina Realty family. Marvin and Connie Hoheisel and Tom Scherling, broker/owners, have built an incredible business, and we look forward to adding their local expertise to our team.” According to June 2019 data available through NorthstarMLS for Morrison County, the median sales price in the area is $202,500. On average, homes are on the market 24 days before selling; 136 homes are currently available for sale in the area; 59 have recently sold. Marvin Hoheisel and Tom Scherling merged their two companies in 1997 to form New Horizons Realty, one of the largest groups of real estate professionals in the Little Falls area. They’ve received accolades for quality service in the Central Minnesota area and have led their market in sales for 20 years. Fifteen New Horizon agents will join the Edina Realty family of companies. Edina Realty has more than 75 real estate offices and nearly 2,400 REALTORS in Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

--Around 1:08pm Sunday the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a one vehicle accident on Bugle Road, southeast of Motley. According to the Sheriff’s Office, 36-year old Chad Garrow of Cushing was traveling south on Bugle Road when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway, hit an approach, went airborne, and landed in the ditch. Garrow and his passenger, 36-year old Nathen Lawson of Motley were taken by ambulance to the Lakewood Health Systems Hospital in Staples with unknown injuries. The accident remains under investigation by the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office.

--The National Weather Service confirmed at least two tornadoes in central Minnesota on Sunday, and possibly an additional one in Wisconsin. Tornado Warnings popped up beginning Sunday just after 3:00pm in McLeod County and spreading to Benton, Sherburne, Anoka, Chisago and Isanti. The confirmed tornadoes were in Silver Lake and Scandia.There were earlier reports of a confirmed tornado in Foley and another in Clear Lake but the National Weather could not confirms any reports of damage in those areas. They were out investigating on Monday. In Wisconsin, the NWS said there was a possible tornado in the Luck-Milltown area of Polk County. Sheds were damaged, many trees down and thousands without power on Sunday in the are around Silver Lake. In Morrison County heavy rains with totals around 1.8 inches at the radio station, just over 1 inch at the airport, reports of 2.3 inches on the west side of Little Falls and some areas in the state reported over 3+ inches of rain with the heaviest southwest of St. Cloud and west of the Twin Cities.

--Around 12:45am on Thursday the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 400 Block of 8th Street South in St. Cloud of Stearns County. Investigators conducted a search warrant after it was believed that controlled substances were being distributed from and used at the residence. Investigators arrested 50-year old Trent Marc Tullis of St Cloud and 44-year old Robin Amy Mejia of St Cloud for 1st Degree Controlled Substance crimes. Both were located inside the residence and taken to the Stearns County Jail.

--Morrison County Public Works Maintenance crews this week will be shouldering CSAH 21, 6, and County Road 225 in the southwest part of the county. County Crews will also be out painting Stop Ahead symbols on various roads around the county. Public works will be patching potholes around the county as weather permits. Please use caution around work crews. A Public Works Contractor will be spray patching CSAH 34. Please use caution around work crews as loose material may be present in driving lanes.

--A two-car crash on a wet Mille Lacs County road claimed the life of a 76-year-old woman in Princeton. Grace Marie Clasen of Princeton was on 75th Avenue at about noon Sunday when she attempted to cross Highway 95. Clasen died at the scene. The driver and three passengers, including two children 4 and 2 were taken to the hospital and all treated for non-life threatening injuries.

--On Saturday the Benton County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men for burglarizing a storage shed, threatening a man with a flare gun, possessing suspected methamphetamine, and possessing counterfeit currency. Benton County Sheriff’s Office received a call from an employee of Aspen Storage in Sauk Rapids that an employee reported that he had found two men burglarizing a storage locker at this location. The employee reported that he was currently following the suspects in their vehicle. The employee reported that the suspects were driving erratically in an effort to evade him. As the employee was following the suspect vehicle, one of the suspects pointed an object out of the vehicle which made sparks or flares that struck the concrete roadway. The employee reported that he believed the suspects fired this object in an attempt to cause the employee to stop following them. Police officers from Sauk Rapids and Sartell along with Benton County deputies were able to catch up to the suspect vehicle at a gas station in Sauk Rapids near the corner of 2nd Ave N and 18th St N. Michael Alen Thunborg, age 34 of Long Prairie, and Andrew Robert Lind-Behrends, age 24 of Sartell, were found in the suspect vehicle and arrested without incident. Investigating officers searched the suspect vehicle and found property stolen from the storage locker facility, property stolen from a previous storage locker burglary, a flare gun, suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and counterfeit US currency. Thunborg and Lind-Behrends were transported to the Benton County Jail where they are awaiting their first appearance. Benton County detectives are investigating the possibility that these suspects have been involved in other burglaries in the area.
