NEWS
--A busy Friday of accidents to kick off the Memorial Day weekend from the Minnesota State Patrol. A Little Falls woman sustained life threatening injuries Friday night just before 11:30pm on Highway 371 in Ripley Township. 28-year-old Heather Jo Bauer had stopped in the southbound lane of 371 when another vehicle in the lane collided with her. Bauer sustained life threatening injuries and taken to St. Cloud Hospital. The other driver, 58-year-old David Blue of Motley was not injured. Around 2:30pm Friday one person was killed in an accident in Mille Lacs County. 21-year-old Carlee Lafond of Taconite ended up crossing the center-line of Highway 169 in Kathio Township and striking the ditch hitting a tree and then struck and landed in another tree. Lafond was dead at the scene. Two 17 year olds from Staples were injured when their vehicle collided with a semi-truck on Highway 10 in Bartlett Township of Todd County around 1:30pm Friday. The two were taken to Staples Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. The semi-driver from Sauk Centre was not hurt. Two other fatal accidents on Friday including a five car accident in Douglas County and one in Hennepin County. More accidents reported Saturday and Sunday including a 66-year-old Parkers Prairie had life threatening injuries from an accident in Todd County on Highway 71 near Bertha when the driver Donald Cihlar left the road around 7:30pm and struck the ditch, taken to Wadena hospital.

--Little Falls City Administrator Jon Radermacher stated that Little Falls City Hall has reopened to public walk-ins on Fridays effective immediately. The city hall was closed on Fridays since last year.

--A reminder from the Morrison County Solid Waste Management Facility is reminding residents that starting today the facility will new Saturday hours now through Labor Day from 8am-2:30pm. Any questions call the landfill at 632-1944 during their office hours.

--The Little Falls Police Department last week took calls of possible bear in the area though none were captured they are reminding residents that bear have been reported. They have continued to handle suspicious activity calls, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, welfare checks and trespassing complaints and calls. The remind Little Falls residents that if needed please call 616-5570.

--The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says a Sartell man is in stable condition after being shot. Deputies responded to a medical call just before 5am last Tuesday in the 32000 block of River Oaks Lane in LeSauk Township. When officers arrived, they determined 57-year-old Alex Mallet of Sartell, was shot in the neck outside the home. Mallet was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for his injuries. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded on scene and investigated. Authorities would not elaborate what caused the man to be shot only that there is no threat to the public from this incident.

--A St. Cloud woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a car in east St. Cloud Wednesday. Police say a 61-year-old St. Cloud woman was in the crosswalk walking south across East St. Germain Street around 4:30pm when she was struck by a northbound car on Lincoln Avenue who was making a left turn to go west on St. Germain. The victim was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment. Her name has not been released. 69-year-old Nancy Ramler of Sartell was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

--Sauk Rapids-Rice High School will hold Graduation tonight at 6pm at the Herb Brooks Hockey Center at St. Cloud State University. Holdingford on Friday, Sartell and Foley have theirs on Saturday.

--The Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce their June Employee of the Month is Dr. Julie Bell of the Family Medical Center. Dr. Bell has been a Family Medicine Physician with the Family Medical Center for 25 ½ years, 11 of those years have been with CHI. Congratulations Dr. Julie Bell, Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce June Employee of the Month.

--An employee of a Waite Park meat market is charged with stealing nearly $3,000 from the business in March of 2020. Forty-one-year-old Jordan Gumiela of Randall is charged with felony theft in Stearns County District Court. According to the charges, an employee of Von Hanson's Meats couldn't find the store's cash box upon opening the store on March 3rd. The employee contacted two other co-workers who had closed the store the prior evening and was told they left the cash box inside the store. Court records show the owner reviewed surveillance video and saw Gumiela use his key to unlock the store, deactivate the alarm with his code, and walk out with the cash box containing $2,922. Gumiela has next hearing on June 7th.

--Back on Friday morning almost all of the statewide restrictions have been lifted. Starting last Friday remaining capacity limits on indoor spaces were lifted. People should continue to wash their hands often with soap and water and quarantine if they've been exposed to COVID. Governor Walz had set a goal of 70% of people statewide getting a vaccine by July, and currently 64% of residents older than 16 have gotten one shot. Some cities and businesses, assisted living facility, hospitals and nursing homes are keeping their restrictions.

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS
--Actor Gavin McLeod has died at age 90. McLeod appeared in dozens of TV Shows including Murray on Mary Tyler Moore and Captain Stubing on the Love Boat. Also singer B.J. Thomas died know for songs like “Raindrops keep falling on my head” winning multiple Grammys and selling 70 million records. He was 78.

TWINS= Kansas City beat the Twins Friday 8-3. Twins held off a late Royal surge to win 6-5 on Saturday. Royals beat Twins Sunday 6-3. Twins win in extra innings 3-2 Monday in 10 over Baltimore on Memorial Day. Twins and Orioles tonight 5:30pm on Q92 WYRQ.
