NEWS
--The Pierz Police Department is investigating several burglaries of businesses on Main Street. Officers responded to three reported burglaries that had occurred sometime Sunday during the evening hours. Someone forced their way into these businesses and stole miscellaneous property and cash. The Pierz Police Department is advising residents and business owners to be on the look out for suspicious behaviors and take precautions in safeguarding their property. --Around 8:50am Sunday the Morrison County Sheriff ‘s Office received a report of a two-vehicle accident with possible injuries approximately 2 miles north of Lastrup in Pulaski Township. 32-year old Mark Loidolt of Pierz was traveling north on 295th Avenue as 55-year old John Kowalczyk of Hillman was traveling west on 213th Street. Loidolt failed to yield at the stop sign and was struck by Kowalczyk’s vehicle in the intersection. Loidolt was transported to CHI St. Gabriel’s Hospital by ambulance with unknown injuries. Kowalczyk was transported to CHI St. Gabriel’s Hospital by private vehicle.

--Mayor of Randall Dan Noss spoke on Little Falls Radio yesterday about the upcoming events in Randall for the 4th of July holiday. Events actually start tomorrow with the medallion hunt. On Sunday there is a classic car show. Next Tuesday, live music, dunk tank, food and fireworks. On July 4th a parade starts at 11:00am, duck races, bed races, food, live music and much more in Randall. --Morrison County had a 3.2% unemployment rate in May, down from 5.5% in April and also lower than 4.1% in May 2017. Here is how our other area counties fared for unemployment rates in May: Aitken 4.2%; Benton 2.6%; Cass 3.5%; Crow Wing 2.8%; Mille Lacs 3.7%; Sherburne 2.5%; Stearns 2.4%; Todd 3.2% and Wadena 4%. The city of St. Cloud registered at 2.8% unemployment and Brainerd was at 3.3%. The seasonally adjusted state unemployment rate in May was 3.1% and the national average was 3.8%.

--After a two-year search, the Randall Presbyterian Church has announced the calling of its new pastor, Michael Hartwell. Hartwell grew up and attended some of his college in Arizona. He attended Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. He is married and has two grown children. After spending some time as pastor in Nebraska and Colorado, he made his way back to Arizona where he has been the past 17 years. Reverend Hartwell’s starts in Randall on July 1st.

--A South Haven woman was hurt in a rear end crash Saturday in Wright County's Corrina Township. The Minnesota State Patrol says a van driven by 32-year old Andrew Blasczyk of South Haven was heading north on Highway 24 near Annandale when the van was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by 19-year old Dakota Krautkremer of Annandale. The crash happened on Highway 24 near Hemlock Street around 4:00pm. A passenger in the van, 29-year old Megan Blascyk, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No one else was hurt in the crash.

--The Franciscans Sisters are hosting the American Red Cross Bloodmobile today 1-7pm, Wednesday 12-6pm and Thursday from 8:30-2:30pm for all to give blood which is in high demand, especially types A, B and O blood. For an appointment call 632-0663.

--A 19-year old man was sentenced Friday for a string of robberies in St. Cloud last fall. Trevor James Rassier of St. Cloud was convicted of three charges of aiding and abetting first-degree, aggravated robbery. He was also convicted of a misdemeanor domestic assault. Rassier will serve 70 months, nearly six years, in prison. He was given credit for 246 days served. The charges stem from incidents October 20th.

--An Iowa man was taken to the hospital after a two vehicle crash in Sherburne County. The incident happened at about 11:30am Saturday at the intersection of Highway 10 and 95th Avenue in Clear Lake Township. The Minnesota State Patrol says 21-year old Casey Towle was heading west on 95th Avenue, at the Highway 10 crossing. He slowed at the median, then pulled out in front of another vehicle heading north causing the two to crash. Towle was not hurt. 39-year old Joseph Costigan, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was the driver of the second vehicle. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

--Two men were hurt Saturday night in a crash involving a car and a motorcycle. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office responded to the intersection of 440th Street and County Road 35 in Millwood Township near St. Rosa at 8:20pm. Sheriff's officials say a car driven by 70-year old Gerald Sandstrom of Benson, was at a stop sign turning left onto southbound County Road 35 when he didn't see the motorcycle also heading south. The motorcycle, driven by 59-year old Leroy Finken Jr., of Melrose, struck the front of the car. Sandstrom and Finken were taken to the Melrose Hospital for treatment.

--A Sauk Rapids woman was hurt when she swerved to avoid a car that had cut her off on Highway 10 Saturday afternoon. The Minnesota State Patrol says around 2:30pm 54-year old Christina Regnier was heading north on Highway 10 near Rice when an unknown black car pulled out in front of her. Regnier swerved to avoid hitting the car, over corrected, entered the median and rolled. The car came to rest on its roof in the southbound lanes.

--The Live Better Live Longer Final Farewell “Cheers to 10 Years” is today from 4:00-6:00pm at Sprout Marketplace in Little Falls.
