--Minnesota's Adjutant General, Major General Jon Jensen stated Sunday ngiht that "We are in a position of strength significantly greater if more need to be called upon in Minneapolis and Saint Paul or other parts of the state”. Throughout the last nights and into early morning hours, thousands of citizen-soldiers served in support of civil authorities in Minneapolis, Saint Paul and the surrounding communities. Soldiers and airmen completed 19 missions to include supporting Minneapolis and Saint Paul Police Operations, providing security for Minneapolis and Saint Paul Fire Departments and hospitals, escorting Emergency Medical Services supporting the State Patrol and securing the Capitol Complex. As of Monday morning more than 5,025 Soldiers and Airmen in the Minnesota National Guard are activated and with plans to continue activation in the coming days if need be by Governor Tim Walz.The Minnesota National Guard remains prepared to protect life, protect property and restore order.

--At 12:58pm Saturday the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an ATV accident with injuries on the Soo Line Trail, approximately 3 miles north of Royalton, in Bellevue Township. 62-year old John Reed of Royalton was parked facing east on the Soo Line Trail as 64-year old Stephen Nixon of Zimmerman was traveling east on the Soo Line Trail at a slow speed because of the dusty conditions. Nixon’s ATV drove into the back of Reed’s ATV, pushing it over the edge of the trail where it rolled over on top of Reed. John Reed of Royalton was taken to St. Gabriel’s Hospital with unknown injuries. Nixon was not injured.

--The Morrison County United Way Board of Directors has named Meghann Boser as the new leader of the local non-profit organization. Boser succeeds Megan Kruse who held the position for over three years. Boser is from the Pierz area and is a graduate of St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications. Boser’s previous experience has a strong marketing background. Her most recent experience was with publishing company Gannett. Prior to her work with Gannett, Boser worked for Little Falls Radio for three years. Meghann stated that this year the Morrison County United Way is partnering with 11 local agencies that are in line with MCUW’s mission to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another. These agencies are working to help Morrison County children and families reach their potential, engage our senior citizens to enrich lives throughout our communities and provide emergency services to those in need. --The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office says a St. Cloud man has died in an ATV crash. The Sheriff's Office was called to Roseland Township just after 7:30pm Saturday to a single ATV crash. Upon arrival, deputies found a 38-year old man from St. Cloud who had been operating the ATV. Lifesaving efforts were attempted however the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The man's name has not been released. The incident is still under investigation.

--The Richardson Lions are hosting a blood drive at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hillman on Monday, June 8th from 12:30-5:30pm. No walk-ins will be allowed due to COVID-19 so you will need to make an appointment to give blood by calling Lois at 320-277-6101.

--Little Falls Mayor Greg Zylka stated Monday on Little Falls Radio to please shop local and help out the local businesses, he also stressed being healthy and please follow the social distancing guidelines.

--Governor Tim Walz extended the curfew for Minneapolis and St. Paul last night from 10pm to 4am today during which last night there was one reported fire in North Minneapolis and a number of arrests were made for protestors that sat on roadways and refused to leave after the curfew began at 10pm. The curfrew will again be tonight from 10pm to 4am Wednesday morning asking residents to band together and stay off the roads. More rallys are scheduled tonight.

--The latest numbers of COVID-19 in Morrison County went up one case yesterday morning to 47 in total. Todd is up to 319, Benton up to 178 (3 deaths), Stearns at 2,030 (13 deaths), Cass 14 (2 deaths), Mille Lacs 19 (1 death), Crow Wing is at 71 (2 deaths).

--Morrison County maintenance crews will be shouldering CSAH 48 from State Highway 371 to Harding in the Northeast part of the county. Crews will also be out painting Stop Ahead symbols on various roads around the county. Public Works will be doing black dirt work, and ditch work in Freedhem this week as weather permits. Please use caution around work crews.

--The Evergreen Cemetery Association stated 24 monuments were toppled at the cemetery in northeast Brainerd sometime in the Friday night or early morning hours of Saturday. The association posted on its Facebook page that nothing appeared to be broken as the upright monuments landed in grassy areas and separated, by design, from their bases to minimize damage. The police department is investigating and asking for anyone who noticed suspicious activity to contact the Brainerd Police Department.

--A St. Stephen woman was hurt in a two vehicle crash over the weekend. The incident happened around 8:30pm Saturaday at the intersection of Riverside Avenue North and 27th Street North in Le Sauk Township. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says 17-year-old Nickolas Breth, of St. Joseph, was heading east on 27th Street North when he failed to stop at the stop sign and was hit by another vehicle in the intersection. The driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Shelby Nitz of St. Stephen, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Breth was cited for a stop sign violation.

--Today is the deadline to file for races that have a primary coming up later this summer including Morrison County Commissioner, Morrison County Soil and Water seats, U.S. Congress, State Senate and State Represenative for area districts up for election this year. The filing deadline is at 5pm today and can be done remotely.

--The Pierz Area Commerical Club announced last night on their Facebook page that with a heavy heart they have voted to NOT have the June Rock Roll and Stroll this week. Despite being within CDC guidelines in the planning the vote was not to have the car show.
