NEWS
--Morrison Soil and Water Conservation District has their 3rd Annual Winter Conservation Meeting tomorrow from 9-12 at the Falls Ballroom. Registration at 9am, lunch at noon, topics on manure management, annual forages for haying and grazing and manure storage facilities that is 9-12 tomorrow at the Falls Ballroom.

--One person was hurt when the car they were driving rolled near Clearwater on Sunday. The Minnesota State Patrol says 27-year-old Jordan Sankey of Waite Park was heading west on I-94 when the pickup they were driving left the road and rolled at about 4am. Sankey was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

--One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a crash near Brooten. According to the Minnesota State Patrol around 11:30am on Saturday a pickup driven by 55-year-old Charles Haggenmiller of Angle Inlet was going west on Highway 55, and a Jeep driven by 18-year-old Kara Wold of Brooten was going east on Highway 55 when they collided. Hagenmiller and a passenger in his car, 49-year-old Andrea Hagenmiller of Gaylord were not hurt in the crash. Wold was taken to Glenwood Hospital.

--Three people were hurt in a single-car crash near Clear Lake on Sunday morning. The Minnesota State Patrol says at about 4am a car driven by 20-year-old Develle Britton of Wisconsin was going east on Highway 10 when it left the road and rolled. Britton, along with two passengers in the car, 19-year-old Abbigayle Bounyavong of St. Cloud, and Tito Smith of Maple Grove, were taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

--One person was hurt in a crash near Kimball on Saturday. The Minnesota State Patrol says at about 1:30 in the afternoon an SUV driven by 22-year-old Chandler Christenson of Montevideo was going south on Highway 15 when it lost control and rolled into the ditch. Christenson was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.

--Ice Houses were taken off the lakes much earlier this year and now this past weekend boats were seen on the lakes including around Little Falls on the Mississippi River. Most lakes in the southern two-thirds of the state already have ice out before yesterday March 11th. That ties a record for the earliest ice out on most area lakes dating back over 145 years to 1878. Some of the northern Minnesota lakes have ice on it so the full state cannot record a full ice out yet but last year the ice out date for the southern two-thirds was April 19th with some areas dealing with ice past the opening fishing weekend. This year is it likely with the warmer temps in the forecast that the ice could be out on all area lakes before the end of March.

--A major road construction project between Monticello and Buffalo won't begin until 2026, but MnDOT officials are holding an open house this week to discuss the plans. The Minnesota Department of Transportation will reconstruct seven miles of Highway 25, replace pipes, improve ditch drainage, and construct roundabouts at County Road 37 and Catlin Street. Wright County will be building a roundabout at Highway 25 and 35th Street Northeast in Buffalo this year that will require a detour. The open house for the $15-million project will be on Thursday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at the Wright County Highway Department in Buffalo.

--The Darling Cemetery Association annual meeting will be held on Saturday March 23rd at 1pm at Bethel Lutheran Church on the west side of Little Falls. If any questions call Pollyanna 320-360-9920.

--The Little Falls Fire Department reported on Saturday at approximately 1249pm, they were dispatched to a grass fire near the intersection of 223rd St and 175th Ave in Ripley Twp. Upon arrival the found the ditch burning along 223rd Street. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. Later in the day at approximately at 5:54pm, firefighters were dispatched an another grass fire at 12134 Meadow View Drive in Pike Creek Twp. This fire started as a result of a permit burn that got out of control. Firefighters quickly contained the fire. Fire Chief Craig Seelen stated this is another reminder of the dry conditions and the importance of being extra cautious with doing any kind of burning.

--There will be Morrison County SKYWARN Spotter Training this Sunday from 2-4pm at St. Mary's Church in Upsala. This is a free event of anyone who wants an interest in serving their community. They do ask if you preregister for a head count on Sunday at MorrisonCoSkywarn@yahoo.com.

--No people were injured, but three dogs died in a house fire Friday in St. Stephen. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a house fire in the 20 block of 6th Avenue Southeast in St. Stephen Friday morning at 10:38. The home was completely on fire by the time firefighters arrived. The home was owned by 37-year-old Ronald Holthaus, but it was rented to 32-year-old Michael Rowley and 30-year-old Samantha Walker. The renters were able to escape, but three dogs died in the fire. The home was a total loss.

--Today is Township day where many Townships nationally and state wide hold their meetings and some will hold elections of officers today. It was decided a few years back that many of their elections are now in November at the general election day but some may hold elections today. Check with your local township officials on information if that they are holding elections today.

--Oppenheimer the movie based on the World War II Manhattan Project on the Atomic Bomb took Best Picture at the Oscars on Sunday and also won 7 overall Oscars for the movie.
