NEWS
--An omnibus hearing for a Little Falls man accused of murdering his wife earlier this year has been continued for a second time. 30-year old Jonathan Samael Greyblood was initially scheduled for an omnibus hearing in late March. That was continued until May 3rd. However, because Greyblood changed counsel, the hearing was continued again earlier this month, and is now scheduled for 1:30pm on June 14th in Morrison County District Court. Greyblood was charged on February 9th with one count of second degree murder (a homicide that was committed with intent but without premeditation) and one count of second degree murder without intent while committing a felony in connection to the death of his wife, Jeanine Greyblood, on February 6th. Greyblood is yet to enter a plea in district court. He remains in custody in the Morrison County Jail. Bail was set at $800,000 with no conditions and $400,000 with conditions.

--At 7:02pm Sunday the Little Falls Fire Department responded to 667 Front Street in the city of Fort Ripley on a report of a basement fire. Upon arrival firefighters found smoke coming from the basement. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in the basement and ventilated smoke from the main floor. The fire did not extend beyond the area of origin in the basement. There was some smoke damage throughout the rest of the house. The Little Falls Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Camp Ripley Fire Department, North Ambulance, and the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Department. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the MN State Fire Marshal. Firefighters were on scene about 3 hours and 15 minutes.

--A Sauk Rapids man is accused of breaking into a Waite Park Fleet Farm and stealing two shotguns last Sunday, according to a complaint filed in Stearns County court. 34-year old Elakie Fale Jr., is facing a first degree felony burglary charge. Around 4:30am Sunday, May 9th, a Waite Park police officer was dispatched to Fleet Farm, located on Division Street in Waite Park, after learning a burglary alarm had gone off. After being unable to find damage to any viewable entrances, the officer left the scene before a Fleet Farm employee contacted the officer again around 5:30am to say she had reviewed the surveillance footage and confirmed an unknown man had entered the building and stolen a firearm.

--A St. Cloud man was injured in a one-vehicle crash Saturday in Kathio Township in Mille Lacs County. The Minnesota State Patrol reported 25-year-old Ryan James Sund was driving his 2002 Chrysler 300 north on Highway 169 at Wakidaaki Drive, when the vehicle left the roadway and hit multiple trees. Sund was transported to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale for non-life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the state patrol.

--A Cold Spring woman, and her passenger are unharmed after a rollover Sunday. The crash happened around 1:30pm on County Road 8, north of Hubert Lane in Rockville Township. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says 25-year-old Kimberly Fennema, of Cold Spring, was traveling south on County Road 8 when she had turned around to check on a child in the backseat, overcorrected on a turn and went off the road. The vehicle rolled once landing on its wheels in a ditch.

--As weather permits, maintenance employees will be doing culvert work on County Road 247 east of Hillman and on County Road 270 north east of Pierz. Both culvert repair locations will include detours please follow the detour signs. Maintenance crews will continue patching various roads and doing bridge work around the county.

--State Lawmakers reportedly have agreed to a $52-billion dollar budget deal before the legislature ended and avoided a state government shutdown. However, it is expected that the governor will ask for a speical session for one month to negotiate the items in the budget bill before all reaches the governor's desk.

--Ten dairy princesses from across Minnesota have been named finalists for the 68th Princess Kay of the Milky Way, after participating in virtual or in-person judging sessions held May 14-15. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the typical Dairy Promotion and Leadership event was separated into virtual leadership sessions and a day of judging. To compete to be a finalist for Princess Kay of the Milky Way, each princess submitted an application, participated in a personal interview, prepared and delivered a speech, and participated in a mock media interview. After these events, 10 finalists were selected to compete for the title of Minnesota’s 68th Princess Kay of the Milky Way, who will be crowned in August. The finalists include: 20-year old Jessica Ohmann of Albany, representing Stearns County; 18-year old Emeliya Dose of Plainview, representing Wabasha County; 19-year old Kelsey Erf of Oakdale, representing Washington County; 19-year old Anna Euerle of Litchfield, representing Meeker County; 18-year old Alaina Johnson of Dakota, representing Houston County; 19-year old Kelsey Kuball of Waterville, representing Rice County; 21-year old Emily Leonard of Norwood Young America, representing Carver County; 20-year old Isabelle Lindahl of Lindstrom, representing Chisago County; 17-year old Megan Meyer, of Rollingstone, representing Winona County; 22-year old Katrina Thoe of Hayfield, representing Dodge County. Princess Kay candidates are judged on their general knowledge of the dairy industry, communication skills and enthusiasm for promoting dairy. Midwest Dairy sponsors the Princess Kay of the Milky Way program, which is funded by dairy farmers through their promotion checkoff.

--Linden Hill plant sale is Tuesday and Wednesday morning and the free concert with St. Francis Music Center is Wednesday 6-8pm on the grounds Linden Hill. Trudi from St. Francis Music Center stated that concert will be a numbe of selection from their groups of murch ensembles also swim classes and other items have or will be starting up again at the Health and Wellness Center. They do ask that you register for swim classes in person as it is first come first serve. Also with the event on Wednesday night please remember to bring your lawn chair and if you need blankets or others items bring yourself.
