NEWS
--The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Thursday at approximately 5:23pm, their office received a report of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 93rd Street and 170th Avenue, approximately three miles north of Royalton, MN in Bellevue Township. According to the Sheriff’s Office, 67-year-old Brenda McWilliams of Little Falls was traveling north on 170th Avenue and a 15-year-old juvenile male of Royalton, MN was traveling west on 93rd Street. McWilliams’s vehicle failed to yield at the intersection and the two vehicles collided. McWilliams was treated for minor injuries.

--Three vehicles were involved in an accident Friday at 3:52pm on Highway 10 and 130th Avenue in Randall. A Gray Ford F150 was eastbound on Highway 10 pulling a boat on a boat trailer. Silver Ram 2500 pickup pulling a recreational trailer with ATV's was traveling westbound on Highway 10. The Ford F150 failed to yield and made a left turn in front of the Ram 2500. After the 2 vehicles collided they side-swiped a Ford Explorer that was stopped at the stop sign. The four in the Ford Explorer were not injured. Rick Mortenson, age 65 of Atwater in the Ford pickup was seriously injured with life threatening injuries and taken to St. Cloud Hospital. There were another four people in the third vehicle, one of the four a 7 year old passenger was treated for a laceration at the scene but not hospitalized.

--Four people were injured including a 2 year old passenger in a vehicle in an accident Friday at 2:41pm in Langola Township near Rice in Benton County. 21-year-old Jasmine Kron of Hutchinson attempted to cross the highway from 155th Avenue and collided with a vehicle driven by 69-year-old Terry Funk of Kansas. Kron her 20 year old passenger and 2 year old passenger were taken to St. Cloud Hospital and the 2 year old was then airlifted to Children's Hospital in the Twin Cities with serious injuries. Funk was not hurt but his passenger 67-year-old Sharon Funk was injured and treated at scene.
Around 10am near Nisswa a vehicle struck a semi-truck seriously injuring one person. 76-year-old Sharyn Simonson of Nisswa was taken to Brainerd hospital with injuries her passenger 87-year-old Duane Minor of Nisswa was taken to St. Cloud with serious life threatening injuries in the accident. The semi-Driver was not hurt. There were non life threatening injuries accident Friday alone in Otter Tail County, Cass County, Kanabec County and Wright County all with the 24 hours of Friday to start the holiday weekend.

--A Cold Spring woman charged in the drug overdose death of her neighbor has pleaded guilty to an amended charge. Thirty-three-year-old Kayla Reynolds was charged with 3rd-degree murder in the April 2020 death of 49-year-old Heidi Hiltner. Reynolds agreed to a guilty plea on a charge of 2nd-degree drug sales in exchange for the murder charge being dropped. A criminal complaint says Reynolds called authorities after she hadn't heard or seen Hiltner for a few days. A police officer arrived and found Hiltner dead inside her apartment. The officer said he found a methadone bottle on the nightstand next to Hiltner's bed. The drug was prescribed to Reynolds. Cell phone records revealed several text messages referencing what court records say were references to methadone and amphetamine. An autopsy of Hiltner's body determined her death was due to mixed drug toxicity. Sentencing will be August.

--District 10B Representative Isaac Schultz of Elmdale Township is having the first town hall meeting and mobile office hours after completing his first legislative session at Pierz City Hall June 8th 6-7pm.

--Now that Memorial Day is over the next phase of road work projects begin in the area. Stearns County will be sealcoating several streets in the St. Cloud area including the busy stretch of County Road 120 on the border of St. Cloud and Sartell and the intersection with Pine Cone Road. The County Road 4 & 120 roundabout, County Road 120 east of County Road 4 to west of County Road 134, County Road 134 from the Sauk River to County Road 120, County Road 133 from 15th Avenue in St. Joseph to 19th Avenue in Sartell and County Road 137 from County Road 6 to south of Highway 23. Sealcoating projects will cause intermittent lane closures. Drivers should slow down in the work zones and find an alternate route if possible. Loose rock will be across the road and will be kicked up, potentially damaging windshields. Benton County will be doing a milling and overlay project on 105th Avenue Northeast/County Road 62 starting today. It won’t be finished until July as paving is delayed for three weeks while the gravel base settles. Culverts will be replaced first, resulting in occasional road closures. The pavement will be tore up on June 26th, and finally redone about three weeks later. While the gravel settles, it will be closed to through traffic. Morrison County and city of Little Falls are continuing with road work projects and will expand those starting next week June 5th watch for lane changes, detours and construction signs in the area where road work is done.

--A Nisswa woman was attacked by a bear early Saturday morning. The DNR stated the women was letting her dog out around midnight when a black bear stormed at her and knocked her down. She did sustained serious injuries and was treated at an area hospital. The DNR said it is not uncommon to see bear in the area this time of year though uncommon for bear to attack, it does happen when provoked.

--The first Rock Roll and Stroll of the season is Thursday from 5-8pm down the streets of Pierz to see classic cars and anything cool.

BAB= High School baseball playoffs begin today for area teams like Little Falls vs. Detroit Lakes at 4:30pm. Pierz tonight at 7pm, Royalton, Upsala-Swanville, Holdingford and Foley all start playoffs today, continue to listen to LF Radio today for baseball details.
TWINS= Toronto beat the Twins Friday night 3-1. Twins go long blasting four homeruns to win 9-7 on Saturday. Toronto then shut out the Twins Sunday 3-0. Royce Lewis returns and homers for the Twins Monday as they beat Houston 7-5 in 10 innings. The Twins are at Houston again tonight 6:30pm on Q92 WYRQ.
