NEWS
--Around 5:40pm Saturday the Todd County Sheriff's Office received word of a hunter shot near Swanville. Dustin VanNorman had suffered a gunshot wound to his lower body from a juvenile male that was hunting on the same property. VanNorman was transported by private party to the Long Prairie Hospital, then later to St. Cloud to treatment of his injuries. The incident remains under investigation.

--Former Minnesota Supreme Court justice and Vikings player Alan Page will be receiving a Presidential Medal of Freedom. On Saturday, President Trump announced that seven people will receive the award, the country's highest civilian honor. Page played 15 years in the NFL, for the Vikings and the Bears. He was the NFL's MVP in 1971 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1988. Page got his law degree while playing for the Vikings, and in 1992, he won a seat on the Minnesota Supreme Court, where he served for 20 years. Page will be awarded the medal, along with six others this Saturday.

--One person was injured Monday around 5:30am on Highway 23 near County Road 4 south of Gillman in Benton County. 23-year old Linda Martinez of Sauk Rapids was east on County Road 4 failed to stop in the intersection and struck 53-year old David Stellmach of Milaca. Stellmach was treated for injuries in St. Cloud. The other driver in the accident was not hurt.

--A former bishop has been added to a list of suspected child abusers in the Diocese of St. Cloud. Bishop Donald Kettler says he has added the name of Bishop Harold Dimmerling to the list of clergy likely to have abused minors. Kettler recently received an allegation that Dimmerling sexually abused a minor while serving as a priest in the Diocese of St. Cloud. Kettler says he has spoken to the victim and deemed the allegation credible. There has been no other report of sexual misconduct involving Dimmerling in the diocese. Kettler says he will be holding listening sessions in the near future in the areas of the diocese where Dimmerling served. He was ordained in May of 1940, and his assignment included serving at the Cathedral of St. Mary in St. Cloud from 1940 to 1943. He later served as bishop of Rapid City, South Dakota from 1969 until his death in 1987.

--The Todd County Sheriff's Office is again reminding motorists to watch for deer. Since November 8th there have been 17 car/deer accidents reported in Todd County alone. Please watch for deer.

--Authorities are asking for the public's assistance in an investigation into the apparent hunting-related death of Jay Clayton Nelson. Nelson was the former police chief in Lake Park northwest of Detroit Lakes in Becker County. He was found dead Saturday near Little Flat Lake on the White Earth Reservation in Becker County. Becker County deputies responded to a report of a dead body, later identified to be Nelson's, in a vehicle on a logging trail approximately a half-mile west of Little Flat Lake. The incident appears to be an accident and a preliminary autopsy report revealed Nelson died as the result of a gunshot wound. Anyone who may have information regarding vehicles or persons that may have been in the area on November 10th is requested to contact the Becker County Sheriff's Office at (218) 847-2661. Little Flat Lake is about 64 miles east of Fargo.

--The Little Fall School Board meets at 5pm today at the Little Falls Community Middle School media center. Agenda items include election canvassing of the recent local school board elections and they will hear and receive the fiscal audit report for the year.

--Tim Sumner spoke on KLTF Monday stating they are still in need of up to 80 volunteers for the Thanksgiving Community Meal next Thursday from 11am-1pm at the Little Falls Community High School. If you can help contact Tim at 632-2540 before this Friday.

--The Minnesota National Guard's 34th Red Bull Infantry Division assumed responsibility for mission command and control of Task Force Spartan from Pennsylvania’s 28th Infantry Division during a transfer of authority ceremony Monday. Kicking off their nine-month deployment, the Red Bulls now lead the nearly 10,000 Soldiers from subordinate brigades that are conducting theater security operations across the Middle East. Several hundred soldiers from both units observed as division leaders cased the 28th's colors, while the colors of the 34th’s were unfurled. Now in its seventh year, Operation Spartan Shield is designed to maintain a U.S. military posture sufficient to strengthen U.S. defense relationships, build partner capacity and execute U.S. Central Command’s contingency plans, if necessary. Task Force Spartan represents the army component of the operation. Task Force Spartan is a unique, multi-component organization made up of active Army and National Guard units and rounded out by U.S. Army Reserve support units. Task Force Spartan epitomizes a total Army effort and serves as proof positive that without the reserve components in our force structure, we would long ago have failed as an Army.

--Due to City Offices in Pierz closed on Monday for the observance of Veterans Day, the Pierz City Councill will meet tonight at 7pm at Pierz city hall with an election canvassing/public hearing scheduled to begin at 6:30pm tonight at city hall in Pierz.

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS
--Stan Lee, the cultural icon responsible for the Marvel comics creations of Spiderman, Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four, Iron Man and X-Men died Monday at the age of 95. Lee was allowed to make cameo appearances in all of the Marvel movies up through this year, for using his famous comic book creations.

SWIM= Congratulations to Little Falls Flyer swimmer Rachel Josephson who advanced to the State Swimming and Diving Tournament this Thursday and Friday at the U of M Aquatic Center in the 50 yard free-style event in swimming.
JOE= Joe Mauer gave a very emotional retirement speech on Monday thanking everyone who was instrumental in his baseball career from Little League to the major league. Mauer retires after being drafted in 2001, brought up to the majors in 2003 and played all 15 years with the Twins organization.
NBA= Timberwolves trade Jimmy Butler over weekend to 76ers.
