NEWS
--On November 7th, 2016 Terry Brisk was shot and killed on his parents' property hunting east of Little Falls. This is an unsolved murder and justice needs to be served. Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen said in recent years more technology is being used to help with trying to find the person who shot and killed Brisk. There is still a $30,000 reward leading to an arrest in the case and any tip could be the one that solves this case. Larsen said their office, the BCA and others continue to work on finding closure for the Brisk family on Terry's murder. He was shot by his own weapon and at close range making the sheriff's office still believe that he knew the person that shot and killed him or at least had approached them on the property at the time of the killing. --St. Cloud Police are asking for tips on a body found Monday morning at the 10 block of 4th Avenue North. Officials say they responded to a call of a possible deceased person underneath the train bridge halfway up the riverbank. Officers located the body of a 32-year-old man from St. Paul and did not observe any signs of foul play. The body was taken to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. --Two people were hurt in a two-vehicle collision in Benton County. The Minnesota State Patrol says the incident happened just after 11am Sunday at the intersection of Highway 23 and 25th Avenue Northeast in Sauk Rapids. Fifteen-year-old Lucy Kaski of Lake Norden, South Dakota was driving west on the highway. Seventy-two-year-old Sandra Loesch of Sartell was driving south on 25th Avenue Northeast. Both drivers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

--A man was hurt when the motorcycle he was driving crashed. The Minnesota State Patrol says the incident happened just before 11pm Sunday on northbound Highway 25 in Monticello. Troopers say 28-year-old Tony Sisophan of Mounds View was taking the exit ramp for east Interstate 94 when the bike left the road. Sisopham was taken to Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

--It is believed a wood-burning stove is to blame for a garage fire. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened just after 6:30am Sunday in Kensington. Jerit Rud called authorities and said he woke up, noticed smoke and observed flames coming from the chimney of the wood-burning stove in the garage. Rud woke up another renter who was still sleeping. They were able to exit the home uninjured. The garage sustained fire and water damage.

--A hunter was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital after falling from his deer stand. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened just after 1pm on Saturday in Carlos Township north of Alexandria. Sixty-five-year-old Douglas Karsky of Alexandria had fallen from his deer stand in the woods near Lake Ida. He had fallen about 10 feet and was on the ground for about an hour prior to the emergency call. Karsky was experiencing back pain and was treated in the woods by Carlos First Responders. A helicopter had to be called in to transport Karsky to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment.

--Today is Election Day there is no elections in Morrison County according to Secretary of State's Website for 2023. Next year will be a big year for elections nationally and also statewide. Though Morrison County has no elections today there are a number from around the area today. A special election for Todd County Commissioner District 3 due to a vacancy, School District Referendum votes for the Crosby-Ironton school district, Pequot Lakes school district, Osakis school district, Eden Valley Watkins School District, Melrose School District. Wadena Deer Creek School District and Browerville School District have questions on a ballot being voted on this Election Day 2023. There are also 60 different parts of the state that have a County, City, School Board or local ballot question being voted on today that you can see where they are at the Minnesota Secretary of State Website for this Election Day.

--A home in Douglas County was destroyed in an early morning fire. The call came in just before 3:30am on Friday in Carlos Township north of Alexandria. Upon arrival, deputies observed the house fully engulfed in flames. The homeowner was not home during the time of the fire and was later in contact with law enforcement. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but does not appear to be suspicious.

--The Minnesota DNR stated that less hunters were out the opening weekend of deer hunting as license sales were down 4% from last year for the opening weekend. Though hunters are down the deer population remains high for the remainder of the firearms season.

NATIONAL FOOD RECALL
--Nearly 30,000 pounds of Tyson Foods brand Fun Nuggets are under recall after consumers complained of finding metal pieces in the items. The recall specifically affects the dinosaur shaped patties sold in 29 ounce bags produced on September 5th. They carry the Best If Used By date of September 4, 2024. The USDA urged consumers with these nuggets in their freezers to throw them out.

SPORTS
STATE CC= Great job by our local runners at the State Cross Country Meet held on Saturday. Isaiah Tabatt of Staples-Motley finished 17th in the Class A Boys race, Staples-Motley was 2nd overall in Class A girls at a team. Pierz Nathan Tax was 33rd, Wyatt Bettsinger finished 74th in Class A Boys, Holdingford's Joseph Guthrie was 57th, and Dawson Hofer was 87th. For Little Falls in Class AA girls run it was 8th grader Malin Youngberg finishing 72nd this year at state.
STATE VB= The State Volleyball Tournament begins on Wednesday for some quarter-finals and others on Thursday and championships wrap up on Saturday. Teams include Pine River Backus, Wadena-Deer Creek, Annandale, Pequot Lakes, Detroit Lakes and Monticello.
