Practice a fire escape plan at home and also at other places you are at at when a fire breaks out. Schools, businesses and others should also work on a fire escape plan. Check smoke detectors at least once a year or a good time is during Daylight Saving Time in the spring and fall which is a good reminder to make sure they are working properly. If you use a space heater this winter check to make sure that no combustibles are nearby, fireplaces, wood stoves and make sure all is correct with those. Also clean the chimneys so they are not plugged, and check carbon monoxide detectors regularly to make this a safe winter. Also the fire department is in need of 5-7 paid on call firefighters. If you are interested get an application at the Little Falls City Hall or call the fire department at 320-616-5591.
