NEWS
--A reminder from the City of Little Falls that the leaf and brush pickup for the city will be this Saturday rain or shine beginning at 6am with leaves and brush bagged and placed on the curb, they need to be untied with a rock or weight to be placed on the bag. The bag and the rock or weight will be left behind after pickup. No bags are asked to be placed in alleys. Any questions contact City Hall this week at 616-5500 again the pickup is Saturday morning.

--Four people were injured when an ambulance with its lights activated collided with a car in Milaca Township of Mille Lacs County. At 7:25pm Sunday a Prius driven by 65-year old Scott Munson was northbound on Central Avenue approaching 160th Street as an ambulance was eastbound on 160th with emergency indicators activated. The ambulance driver 32-year old Crystal Kesterson of Lauderdale slowed for a stop sign and proceeded into the intersection, colliding with the northbound Prius. The North Ambulance had a medic and a patient in the back at the time of the collision. Those two were 36-year old Brynn Werner of Princeton and 79-year old Yvonne Huckstep of Milaca. According to the state patrol report all four suffered non life threatening injuries. Three of the four required hospitalization, but Werner did not.

--Governor Tim Walz announced Monday the "Kids Deserve a Shot" program. The program includes two incentives, a $200 Visa gift card and a chance to win one of five $100,000 scholarships. Walz said kids ages 12 to 17 are eligible for the $200 reward, but they need to start and finish their COVID-19 vaccine series began yesterday and runs through November 30th. The time window doesn't apply to the $100,000 scholarship drawing. Walz said any Minnesotans between 12 and 17 years old who complete their vaccine series in 2021 are eligible. According to the governor's office, Walz authorized $12.2 million in federal American Rescue Plan funding for the "Kids Deserve a Shot" program. The governor said only about half of Minnesota's 12-15 population is fully vaccinated and not much better for 16 and 17-year-olds; about 60% are considered fully vaccinated.

--Command Chief Master Sgt. Lisa Erickson assumed responsibility as the 14th State Command Chief of the Minnesota Air National Guard on Saturday, Oct. 16, becoming the first female to hold this role. As the State Command Chief, Erickson is the most senior enlisted member of the Minnesota Air National Guard and will play an important role in the readiness and development of the force. Her role includes responsibility for the leadership and management of approximately 2,000 Airmen located at two separate wings and one headquarters across the state. Erikson brings tremendous diversity of experience, having held six very different duty positions throughout her 32-years of service. She began her career as a Jet Engine Mechanic on the C-141 cargo aircraft. She succeeded in this traditionally male career field in a time when there were only 5-6% females in the U.S. Air Force. She transitioned into administrative roles include training manager, personnel systems manager, and 148th Recruiting Office Supervisor. She served as the Senior Noncommissioned-Officer-In-Charge of the 148th Medical Group for 10-years during deployment to Afghanistan.

--Sisten Julien Dierkes of the Franscican Sisters stated that the appointments for the blood drive are nearly full already so please call as early as possible to make an appointment next Tuesday through Thursday at 320-632-0663 or go to redcrossblood.org.

--After a week of jury selection the trial for 31 year old Jonathon Greyblood began yesterday in Morrison County District Court with opening statements from both attorneys and prosecution witnesses taking the stand. Greyblood if charged with second degree murder in the death of his wife Jeanine back in February from a argument that led to Greyblood allegedly strangling and killing his wife and dumping her body under a bridge. Greyblood pleaded not guilty to all charges.

--Superintendent of Little Falls Community Schools Stephen Jones will be the guest on KLTF Community Program today at 8:30am. Jones will give an update on the school year, latest items to pass along and what is next after MEA break. Today on AM960 KLTF.

--The Little Falls Community High School Band Department is excited to bring back the IMC Band Concert on November 22nd and 23rd at the High School auditorium, stay tuned for more details.

NATIONAL NEWS
--Colin Powell, who served Democratic and Republican presidents in war and peace has died of COVID-19 complications. He was 84. In 1989 Powell became the first Black chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In that role he oversaw the U.S. invasion of Panama and later the U.S. invasion of Kuwait to oust the Iraqi army in 1991. Via Social Media Monday, Powell's family said he had been fully vaccinated.

PIERZ= The Pierz Boys Basketball program is hosting a pro wrestling fundraiser this Saturday at the MAC in Pierz High School with wrestlers from the American Wrestling Federation and Tony Denucci, gates open at 6pm the show at 7pm for $10 adults and all kids 9 and under are free, and proceeds go to the basketball program. A great night of family fun for all ages Saturday in Pierz.
