NEWS
--During the homecoming coronation on Monday afternoon in Pierz Ryan Stangl was crowned King and Laura Skiba was crowned Queen.

--On Sunday afternoon Upsala crowned their Homecoming King and Queen. This year's homecoming King is Alex Thieschafer and the Homecoming Queen is Desiree Dingmann.

--On Sunday evening Royalton crowned their Homecoming King and Queen. This year's Homecoming King in Royalton is Nathan Popp and their Homecoming Queen is Jenna Carlson.

--A two vehicle crash in Itasca County, involving two from Little Falls and two teenagers from Crow Wing County occurred Sunday afternoon around 1:00pm on Southwood Drive in Harris Township. 18-year old Jonathon Robert Smith of Baxter was northbound on Highway 169 when he attempted to make a left turn from Highway 169 when he was struck by 48-year old Sandra Kirk of Little Falls. Smith and his passenger, 19-year old Noah Roman Lura of Brainerd were wearing seat belts and uninjured while the airbag in Kirk's vehicle was deployed. Kirk and her passenger, 17-year old Derek Jason Kirk of Little Falls, were wearing seat belts. They were taken to a Grand Rapids hospital for non life threatening injuries.

--A Floodwood man is dead after being struck by a car on state Highway 200 in Aitkin County. The Minnesota State Patrol says the 61-year old man was a passenger in a car that struck an animal on the road. He and the driver got out to check the damage, and he was struck and killed by a passing car. The incident happened west of Jacobson shortly before 8:00pm Sunday. The victim's name has not yet been released. No one else was injured.

--Authorities in Minnesota are seeking five children missing along with their mother, who is the wife of a murder suspect. The Mower County Sheriff's Office is asking for help finding 39-year old Izetta Cooley and her five children, ages 10 to 17. Authorities say Cooley is under court order not to have contact with her children, but she came to a home in Rose Creek where they were staying and took three of them. Authorities say the other two children were not seen but it's possible all five are traveling with her. Cooley's husband, 44-year old Miguel Cooley of Moorhead, is accused of fatally shooting 20-year old Gabriel Perez outside a restaurant in Fargo, North Dakota, on September 23rd. Miguel Cooley was later arrested in southeastern Minnesota. Authorities say Izetta Cooley and her children may be in Minnesota but also may be traveling in South Dakota or North Dakota.

--A Watkins man was hurt when the vehicle he was driving was hit from behind. The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened at about 9:15am Sunday on Highway 55 in Kimball. 37-year old Bruce Schmitz of Watkins was driving east when he stopped to make a left turn, waiting for westbound traffic to clear before turning. His vehicle was struck from behind by a car driven by 29-year old Courtney Eystad of South Haven. Schmitz' vehicle was pushed forward coming to a rest in the ditch. Schmitz was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non life threatening injuries. His four passengers and Eystad were not hurt.

--A 47-year old Princeton man suffered non-life-threatening injuries when he lost control of his all-terrain vehicle and rolled it in Milaca Township in Mille Lacs County. Anthony James Kendall was southbound on Highway 169 in the west ditch when the ATV flipped over. He was injured about 12:30pm Sunday. He was wearing a helmet and suffered minor injuries.

--Brainerd Community Action and the Brainerd Jaycees are proud to announce that Haley Helmin has been chosen as the 2018 Youth Volunteer of the Year. This young lady had multiple nomination letters submitted on her behalf, noting that she is a strong, goal-driven, kind hearted, self-starter. The nominations stated she is a dedicated and giving individual with a loving heart and generous spirit. With these qualities, it was easy for the selection committee to determine that Haley Helmin is deserving of being selected as the 2018 Youth Volunteer of the Year. As a young leader of the community, they can only imagine how great of an asset she will continue to be. Haley has made a difference in the community through volunteerism and service work. Congratulations to Haley Helmin on being named Youth Volunteer of the Year.

--The Crosslake Days were this past Thursday through Saturday. Congratulations to these chili cookoff winners. For the Judges Choice: 1st Place-Crosslake Community School; 2nd Place-Riverside Saloon and Eatery; 3rd Place-Nordic Haus. For the People's Choice: 1st Place-Barstock Liquors; 2nd Place-Golden Horizons Assisted Living and Memory Care Center; 3rd Place-Crosslake Evangelical Free Church.

SPORTS
PIERZ= At halftime of Friday's Homecoming football game in Pierz; Pierz High School will be introducing their latest members of the Pioneer Athletic Hall of Fame. The new members include: Dean Rocheleau, Warren Gall, Kaitlyn Jensen, Kyle Girtz, Bryan Virnig, Robert Bell and Katie Kimman. Mark and Karla Jensen will be inducted as coaches. There will be a reception in the high school commons immediately after the game. The public is invited.
MAUER= It is being reported that Joe Mauer may have played his final major league baseball game on Sunday. Mauer, is 35 and is speculating retirement with official word coming in the near future.
MLB= Milwaukee beat Chicago and LA Dodgers beat Colorado in one game playoffs on Monday. Cubs and Rockies play tonight in the one game wildcard match with the winner getting Milwaukee Thursday. The AL Wildcard A's at Yankees is tomorrow night in baseball.
