--Little Falls Police Monday at 5:45pm responded to a report of a subject trapped under a backhoe in a construction site at the intersection of 11th Street & 6th Avenue Northeast in the City of Little Falls. 82-year-old Ralph Huar of Little Falls was found deceased at the scene and transported to Midwest Medical Examiners Office.

--A 9-year-old was killed Sunday at 5:07pm in an ATV accident on private property located off 103rd Street, east of 400th Avenue in Lakin Township, southeast of Hillman. The Morrison County Sheriff's Office stated a 10-year old male from Hillman was driving a side-by-side ATV and he had a 9-year old male passenger with him, also from Hillman. The side-by-side ATV was traveling near a cornfield on private property when the operator lost control and the side-by-side ATV eventually flipped, ejecting both the driver and passenger. Life saving measures were performed on the passenger at the scene but were unsuccessful. The 9-year old male passenger later died at the scene. The 10-year old driver was taken to St. Cloud Hospital by a family member where he was treated for minor injuries and released. Because the two were juveniles in the case, names at this time are not being released by the sheriff's office.

--The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reports another accident involving an ATV Sunday afternoon at 4:48pm at the intersection of 300th Avenue and 143rd Street in Pierz Township, east of Pierz. 44-year old Christopher Wenderski of Burtrum was driving a side-by-side ATV with a passenger, 36-year old Lacosta Miller of Albany. The ATV was traveling westbound on the Soo Line Trail and when it entered the intersection Wenderski lost control. The ATV rolled onto its side and pinned the passenger’s hand underneath. Lacosta was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale where she is listed in stable condition. Wenderski was not injured.

--Little Falls Fire Chief Craig Seelen was on KLTF yesterday and spoke on Fire Prevention Week. This week is a good time to have a prepare plan in place with families, children, businesses, eldery residences should always be ready in case of a fire. Seelen said that this past year was one of the worst for wildfires, baler fires, farmers in the field due to the dry summer saw plenty of a fires sparked luckilly in the past few weeks, more rain and cooler nights have started to put a stop to that but now in time for fall and winter where chimney, cooking, fireplace fires start up, candles are a major part of fires and should always be watched if used in the months ahead. Seelen said that fire prevention is a big key in stopping fires. Seelen said if you notices a fire burning or need firefighter assistance call 911 for an emregency or the fire hall number is 616-5591. In a state note Governor Tim Walz has ordered all Minnesota and U.S. Flags on state and federal buildings in Minnesota to be flown at half staff through sunset Saturday in honor of firefighters who have lost their lives fighting fires in the state of Minnesota.

--Upsala crowned their King and Queen Sunday afternoon for Homecoming 2021. Queen- Katie Jensen and King- Levi Lampert. Swanville also crowned their Homecoming King and Queen Sunday night as King- Cooper Thieschafer and Queen- Mackenzie Morris. The Upsala-Swanville Patriots host Browerville in Homecoming this Friday at 2pm in Upsala, hear the game live on Q92 WYRQ.

--Holdingford Schools crowned Sam Harren King and Brea Worlie Queen at coronation for Homecoming Monday morning. Holdingford host Paynesville in their homecoming game Friday night.

--Little Falls Community High School Principal Tim Bjorge spoke yesterday on KLTF about homecoming week. Coronation was last night for King and Queen. Congratulations to Dylan Becker crowned King and Sunny Savard crowned Queen. Friday there will be a homecoming parade this year beginning at 2pm behind the Middle School, where the parade will travel to the intersection by the tennis courts turn right down 11th past the High School to 9th and then past Lindbergh Elementary down 1st Avenue to the backside of St. Mary's Church and School down to 3rd and back to the high school to finish. The Tailgate Party starts at 5pm and then the game is Friday night at 7pm vs. Zimmerman and heard live on AM960 KLTF.

--Habitat for Humanity of Morrison County is getting ready for groundbreaking October 12th on their 21st house which will be on 12th Street Southwest in Little Falls. Kathy Lange of Habitat for Humanity stated that they are hosting a fundraiser to help with costs of lumber and other items that have gone up in 2021. The fundraiser with local food vendors and restaurants in the area along with Stage Hypnotist Kate Escape will be at Great River Arts on October 28th with dinner starting at 5:30pm and show at 6:30pm. Tickets are $40 can be purchased online at the eventbrite.com site or call 616-2084.

--As weather permits, maintenance employees will be working on the this week on more mowing roadside ditches in various spots around the county. Paving culvert patches on County Road 272 east of Harding, County Road 265 east of Freedhem and County Road 210 north of Little Falls. Installing driveway culverts also on County Road 265. Please use caution around work crews and flashing lights.

--The Morrison County Commissioners meet today at 9am at the government center boardroom. Agenda items include hearing from Hands of Hope, the Lake Sullivan Improvement plan and the Lake Shamineau Improvement plan, Cyber Security Proclamation and announcing the Farm Family of the Year dedication.

--Kinship of Morrison County is hosting their Soup & Chili Cook-off next Tuesday October 12th and they recently announced that Anna Euerle, the 68th Princess Kay of the Milky Way for 2021-2022 will be working with the volunteers from the Crow Wing County Dairy Princess / Ambassador program as they serve dairy products. The event is next Tuesday from 5-7pm at the Falls Ballroom, tickets are $12 at the door or $10 pre sale, Youth 5-17 are $5 and Kids 4 and under and Seniors over 80 are Free Will there are also full service tables for $125 for 4 or $200 for 8. All the proceeds help the mentoring program for Kinship.
