NEWS
--A 55-year-old from Burtrum was killed in a two-vehicle accident Monday morning at 8:46am on Highway 27 near County Road 219 in Bruce Township of Todd County. 55-year-old Lashel Oliver was traveling eastbound and collided with a Tractor Truck driven by 20-year-old Tyler Scherping of Freeport. Sherping had no apparent injuries in the accident while Oliver was dead at the scene.

--Authorities are investigating after a 19-year-old man was found dead. The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office says at about 9am Sunday deputies were called to a report of a man who was found unresponsive and not breathing in Long Lake Township just south of Brainerd. The man has been identified as Wyatt Herron. His body was taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office. No other details about the incident have been released.

--A motorcycle crash South of Melrose Sunday killed a Janesville, Minnesota man. Stearns County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a motorcycle crash at 2:15 Sunday afternoon. Officials say it appears two motorcycles were going South on County Road 13 about a mile and a half South of Melrose when both riders went into the left ditch.
Forty-three-year-old Aaron Schlingmann of Janesville was taken to Melrose Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other rider, 45-year-old Erick Buckley of Owatonna was taken to Melrose Hospital a short time later and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Sheriff’s Deputies say neither rider was wearing a helmet at the time and the crash remains under investigation.

--Authorities are investigating after a fire destroyed a detached garage at a home in St. Cloud early Sunday morning. The incident happened around 2:30am in the 900 block of 11th Avenue South. The St. Cloud Fire Department responded to a report of a garage on fire and arrived to find the building fully engulfed and power lines down. Firefighters were able to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to nearby homes. No one was hurt in the fire. The damage is estimated at $40,000. The cause is under investigation.

--A St. Cloud man is accused of swinging a machete at a group of people after they confronted him about stealing. Police were called to the 1300 block of 16th Avenue South in St. Cloud just before 8pm Wednesday on a knife complaint. Officers were directed by a group of people to the basement where 39-year-old Raymond Tillet was allegedly wielding a machete. Police were able to convince Tillet to come upstairs. Court records show Tillet said he had been shot with a BB gun. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for an exam and possible treatment of BB gun wounds. Two witnesses said Tillet had pulled out the machete and swung at them with it. Neither the man nor the woman was hit. Police found the machete in the basement and what appeared to be machete marks in the wall. Tillet has a previous conviction for a crime of violence in 2002. He is now charged with being a felon in possession of ammunition after the recent incident.

--Upsala High School has chosen its homecoming candidates for 2022. Queen candidates Madalin Koetter, Molly Leners, Savannah Stumpf, Hannah Luedtke and Paige Gerads. King candidates Max Lange, Tyson Leners, Braedan Rene, Mitchell George and Ryan Johnson. Coronation is scheduled for Sunday, September 18th at 4pm at Upsala Auditorium. The homecoming game is September 23rd.

--Swanville also announced their Homecoming 22 Royal Court-King Candidates are Kaleb Kurtz, Sam Primus and Parker Schultz. Queen Candidates are Emily Carrillo Ledesma, Amelia Hudalla and Lauren Miller. Coronation will be on Sunday in Swanville.

--Phil Ringstrom, President of the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery Association spoke on Party Line on KLTF Monday and said they are hosting a thank you to members of the association, works, organizations, administrators of the state veterans cemeteries around the state including north of Little Falls at an event at 4:30pm on September 20th at the Little Falls VFW with social to start then a free will offering meal. This is also open to anyone who wants to come and see what is being done with the cemetery and also a speaker to discuss the work at the Minnesota Military Museum at Camp Ripley. Again all are welcome to come September 20th beginning with social at 4:30pm at the Little Falls VFW.

--After months of negotiations between the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) and Minnesota's heath systems, health care workers will hit the picket lines in the Twin Cities and Duluth Monday morning at 7am. This is the largest private sector nurses strike in U.S. history, according to the MNA. Picketing health care workers will be outside 16 hospitals across the state from Monday, September 12 through Thursday, September 15. The union voted "overwhelmingly" to authorize a strike after more than five months of negotiations with hospital representatives from seven hospital groups, including M Health Fairview, Essentia Health, HealthPartners, Allina Health, Children's Hospitals, North Memorial and St, Luke's. The union is calling for wage increases and more paid time off in their updated contracts. They're also demanding solutions for short-staffing, retention and better patient care.

--The Morrison County Farmers Union will hold its annual convention and banquet at 6:30pm on September 26th at the Royal Cafe in Little Falls. There will be guest speakers and door prizes. The public is welcome to attend. Tickets can be obtained from area merchants or at the door for the chicken buffet or call 320-573-2328.

WORLD NEWS
--The state funeral for Britain's Queen Elizabeth II will take place next Monday at Westminster Abbey, and she will lie in state in Westminster Hall from this Wednesday. Britain's longest-serving monarch died peacefully Thursday at her Scottish country estate in Balmoral. There will also be a moment of silence at 8pm Sunday British Time to remember the Monarch prior to the funeral Monday.
