--Little Falls Community Schools Superintendent Greg Johnson spoke on KLTF Monday about the start of the school year. Some policies have been questioned including dress code and parking. On dress codes, hats are not being allowed to be worn in the high school, and some exceptions at the middle schools, some other codes were what is deemed inappropriate material on shirts and pants also and students were asked what not to wear to class. The cell phone procedure has had a few students reprimanded for bringing them to classes but middle school students have been pretty much abiding to the new rules. The question on $10 for parking was addressed and Johnson said that many central Minnesota schools are already charging $50 to $100 for a parking badge or permit to park in the parking lot and the school board and Johnson said that with the activity in the parking lot during the day after students were picked up and dropped off is the reason they decided that a badge or ticket type system needed to be established. Bids were accepted for the child care facility that will begin work next year and hope to ready for kids in early 2025. Johnson also stated that this is Homecoming week and lots of fun events are happening for students to take part in including a parade and the game and dance for high school students all happening on Friday night in Little Falls.

--MnDOT Project Manager Rob Abfalter says the rebuilt westbound Highway 23 is pretty much paved in the large project going through St. Cloud. The eastbound Highway 10 lanes are scheduled to have concrete poured next week. Right now October 4th is when the concrete contractor will come back in to pave Highway 10 to finish that piece. Right now workers continue to lower those lanes by 12 feet under the new 4th Street bridge. Abfalter says with the rain we had over the weekend, there isn't much work happening on the project today, but it remains on schedule. He says the contract states they have to be back to four lanes of traffic on both highways by November 4th. They can continue to work on other items that are considered offline. They could continue to work on things like the bridges without interfering with traffic. Abfalter says the worst of the construction interruptions have been completed, but more road work will be planned in 2024 including the large East St. Germain project.
