NEWS
--Late Friday, the Minnesota State Patrol reported via their Twitter page that they have identified a person of interest in the hit and run accident that killed 40-year old Joseph Herold of Pierz around 6am on September 13th north of Pierz. No other information was released on the page by the State Patrol only that the case remains under investigation and any assistance in the case can be directed to their investigative unit by calling (218) 316-3026.

--Little Falls Community Schools Superintendent stated Monday on KLTF that when the school goes to hybrid next week students will be given an option in the Middle and High School to take a meal home with them for the days they are not in school (similar to the food distribution program this past summer), also transportation will still be provided to all elementary schools and Mary of Lourdes students going 5 days a week along with the Middle and High School students when attending school on alternate days. Activities and athletics during the hybrid model can still have games and practices (although students will have to have their own transportation to and from practices if they are not in school those days). This would change if the school has to go to full distance learning. The Little Falls School Board will hold a special meeting on Thursday at noon at the High School District Office to discuss and approve the Hybrid learning plan effective October 5th. Little Falls Community Schools was notified Monday of two confirmed cases of COVID-19 affecting a member of Little Falls Community Middle School and a member of the Continuing Education Center (CEC), both with an exposure date of Tuesday, September 22nd. Little Falls Community Schools has worked with the Minnesota Department of Health to identify those people who had close contact with the cases, and they have communicated directly to all of those people. The risk of exposure for other individuals present in the Middle School or CEC on September 22nd is no greater than the risk of contracting the virus in the general community.

--The Crossroads Center shopping mall was put into lockdown Monday afternoon. St. Cloud Police say they were involved in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle that ended near the Crossroads Mall. The suspect entered the mall at which time the mall went into lockdown as police searched. Assistant Police Chief Jeff Oxton says just after 4pm the suspect was found inside the mall and taken into custody. The lockdown was then lifted and no one was injured.

--A pedestrian died in a crash on Highway 47 near Wyanett Friday night. The Minnesota State Patrol says around 9:30pm a pickup was going north on Highway 47. Authorities say a woman was standing in the northbound lane and was hit by the pickup. The pedestrian, 57-year old Michelle Shea of Onamia, died at the scene. The pickup driver 45-year old Cory Walch of Hugo, was not hurt.

--Julia Mueller of Linden Hill announced on Monday that due to the recent restrictions they have had to cancel this year's Christmas at the Mansions event which runs after Thanksgiving into December. The hope is to have the large attraction back in late 2021.

--Downtown Little Falls experienced a power outage Sunday morning that affected areas of central Minnesota for hours including the Bank Square area with stoplights out for hours. Minnesota Power worked Sunday morning to restore power before noon.

--Pierz Schools want to congratulate Sara Underhill for being named the Minnesota High School Art Educator of the Year. The announcement came in the past days from the state level.

--Congratulations to Michael Leidenfrost and Ellie Fischer who were crowned the Pierz homecoming King and Queen Monday afternoon. The event can be seen on the Pierz Schools facebook page from yesterday as the event was not open to the public.

--At 11:01pm Sunday Crow Wing County authorities responded to a fatal one vehicle crash at the intersection of Iverson Road and South Black Bear Road in the city of Trommald. Upon arrival, deputies located a deceased 57-year old male from Crosby in the drivers seat. His name is being withheld pending notification of relatives. The preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was likely traveling north on Iverson Road, crossed Black Bear Road and crahed into a tree on the northeast corner of the intersection. The crash was reported by another party who only happened upon the scene. There were no others in the single vehicle.

--Minnesota Department of Health numbers on Monday showed another 936 new cases of COVID-19 in the state with 7 new deaths. Morrison County had 6 new cases linked to the virus Monday making the cumulative total 268 since testing began and 2 confirmed deaths. Around 185 of those reported no longer in isolation still making the numbers over 50+ still dealing with the virus in the county.

--Minnesota officials have stopped a COVID-19 testing study after multiple reports that state and federal public health workers were greeted by racial and ethnic slurs as they went door-to-door. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control pulled its federal surveyors out of Minnesota this week after they experienced verbal abuse and intimidation. The news comes as Minnesota was downgraded Friday to the `uncontrolled spread'' category by a website that tracks each state's progress toward stopping the spread of COVID-19.

--A Corcoran man was hurt in a two vehicle in St. Cloud over the weekend. The incident happened around 4:30pm Friday at the intersection of Highway 23 and Cooper Avenue. The Minnesota State Patrol says 25-year-old Kyle Perkins of Clear Lake and 61-year-old Isabel A Gomez Nava, were both stopped at a red light waiting to turn onto Highway 23. When the light turned green the two vehicle collided. Gomez Nava was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Twins and Houston have game 1 of the best of 3 series at Target Field starting today at 1pm, coverage starts at noon live on Q92 WYRQ. Wednesday's game has a 12-noon first pitch, Thursday's game is to be announced if a third game is needed. The National League playoffs begin on Wednesday in all best of 3 series.
NHL= Tampa Bay wins the Stanley Cup Finals over Dallas last night.
NFL= Patrick Mahomes 5 TD's as Kansas City beat Baltimore 34-20.
