NEWS
--Back to School today watch for school buses too and from school this morning and afternoon, this also means to watch for school crossing zones followed the school bus and crosswalk safety rules and expect many heading back out to school today across central Minnesota. Some students will begin their school year on Wednesday this week. Please remember to watch out for the kids going back.

--Swanville Schools Superintendent Travis Hensch spoke on KLTF Friday had his journey brought him from Alaska to central Minnesota where he has been teaching in Wadena and around the state before coming to Swanville this year. Hensch said they have been working to get the school ready inside moving some classrooms around, working on expanding the library and bringing in new staff members including a full-time Spanish teacher for students. He said the community support is outstanding for the volleyball program and what they are doing for fundraising, the football program with the tailgating and support to come out and be part of the action like this past Friday night. Hensch said this year is going to be great to have all students in class and doing all their part to keep all students in class through the school year. --A 44-year-old Baxter man was injured when a propane tank exploded Thursday, September 1st at Brainerd International Raceway. Crews were dispatched to the raceway just before 3pm. With limited details Thursday afternoon, Crow Wing County Lt. Craig Katzenberger said a propane tank was believed to have exploded inside a shipping container, possibly while the container was being unloaded. He said it sounded like the man might have been smoking, but it is unclear if there was a leak in the tank or if there was other flammable material in the vicinity. The man, whose name was not released Thursday afternoon, was flown to Hennepin County Medical Center to be treated for his burns. His condition was unknown, but he was responsive at the time of the transport. No other details on the incident were available Thursday afternoon.

--A Stearns County judge has sentenced a Mora man to 14 years and 4 months in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a young girl. A jury found 33-year-old Paul Lanphear guilty on two counts of 1st degree criminal sexual conduct in May. He gets credit for already having served more than a year in the county jail. According to the criminal complaint, Lanphear was dating the girl's mom from 2016 until sometime in 2018. Records show during a forensic interview with the Child Advocacy Center, the girl disclosed that Lanphear would sexually assault her almost daily when she was as young as eight years old. She said Lanphear would scratch and slap her if she refused and said she could tell on him but there would be consequences. According to the charges, the girl said the abuse stopped in 2018 when Lanphear moved out.

--The St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz will pray the Patriotic Rosary on Friday, September 9th at 12:45pm. It is sponsored by the Hearts of Faith, a local Women's group. The decades of the rosary will be led by the Hearts of Faith, the local Christian Women's groups, Legion and Auxiliary, Knights of Columbus, and the students of Holy Trinity School. We will be praying for each state in our country and also government officials. All are welcome to join us.

--Due to city offices being closed on Monday for Labor Day. The Little Falls City Council will meet tonight at 7:30pm at City Hall.

--St. Cloud Police are investigating reports of gunshots in south St. Cloud. Police say the shots were heard in the 1500 block of 6th Avenue South near the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center about noon Friday. St. Cloud Police say two men were fighting when one man broke free and began to run away. While running, he fired several rounds toward the other man. No victims have been identified, and officers have cleared the scene. Officers believe the suspects have left the area. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the St. Cloud Police Department (251-1200) or call Crimestoppers (800-255-1301).

--An Emily woman and teen were injured in a one-vehicle crash Thursday, Sept. 1, in Crosby. The Minnesota State Patrol reported 35-year-old Carrie Ann Rudolph was southbound on Highway 6 in her 1998 Mercury Sable at 9:39am, when she lost control after passing cars and rolled. Both she and her passenger, 13-year-old Miley Raynbow Rudolph, were transported to Cuyuna Regional Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

--The Morrison County Commissioners meet Tuesday at 9am at the government center boardroom. They will vote on granting a design for a new taxi lane at the airport and approve the latest update to work on IT security at the county. The board will proclaim September as Suicide Awareness Month and get the latest county reports.

TWINS= White Sox walk off the Twins Friday 4-3. White Sox bombs the Twins 13-0 in a 1 hitter Saturday. Twins avoid the sweep on Sunday beating Chicago White Sox 5-1. Yankees beat the Twins won Monday 5-2 to open their series in New York. The Twins (68-65) continue series with the Yankees tonight at 5:30pm on Q92 WYRQ.
CLASS C= Buckman defeated Waconia 8-5 Saturday to advance to Sunday against Dumont. St. Patrick hit a 2 run walk-off homer to beat Avon 5-4 Saturday eliminating the Lakers. Nisswa defeated New Ulm 4-2 to advance to Sunday morning against Jordan. Nisswa gets all runs on homeruns including a two 3-run shots and a grand slam to rout Jordan 14-2 Sunday and advance to the semi-finals Sunday against Delano while Buckman beats up Dumont 13-4 Sunday afternoon going long ball again on the field to move on to the semi-finals later on Sunday. Nisswa held off Delano 10-8 in a wild 9th inning Sunday night to reach the championship on Labor Day for Class C. Buckman made it a true Victory League Championship with a 6-4 win over Watertown so Labor Day for the first time in Class C Title History it is two teams from the Victory League Buckman vs. Nisswa. Nisswa blasted Buckman Labor Day 12-3 to win the Class C State Championship for the 2nd year for Region 8C as Sobieski won it in 2021 and now Nisswa wins it in 2022. Congratulations Lightning.
