State Races that had primaries also included some U.S. House Seats District 1 the top votes were to DFL Jeff Ettinger and Republican Brad Finstad, District 4 DFL Betty McCollum and Republican May Lor Xiong, District was close but Illhan Omar 50.35% defeated Don Samuels 48.2% to move on vs. Republican Cicely Davis, District 7 Jill Abahsain wins for DFL to challenge Republican Michelle Fischbach and in District 8 it was Pete Stauber Republican and Jen Schultz DFL to move on to November. Governor where Governor Tim Walz and Republican Challenger Scott Jensen received top votes. Secretary of State Steve Simon and Kim Crockett top vote getters, Attorney General was Keith Ellison and Jim Schultz to get into the November elections. Full details on other races can be found at the Secretary of State's website and election results. There were a number of school bond referendum votes in central Minnesota on Tuesday. The referendum in Melrose failed by 141 votes, Kimball residents voted yes on question 1 and no on question 2 on their bond referendum. Residents voted down the 72-million dollar referendum request for Rocori School District while voters in Albany passed their referendum vote on Tuesday's election.

--One person was injured in Kathio Township of Mille Lacs County Tuesday at 10:07am on Highway 169 at Vineland Road. 57-year-old Toby Egan of Pierz was turning from 169 onto Vineland Road when he was struck by 45-year-old Valeri Krebsbach of Andover. Egan was taken to the Onamia hospital with non life threatening injuries. Krebsbach and three children ages 13, 8 and 7 were not injured.

--Authorities have arrested the third and final suspect in a July 6th shooting in south St. Cloud. 28-year-old Daquan Ledbetter was booked into the Stearns County Jail on Monday. Ledbetter and two other suspects, 26-year-old Bryant Garth II and 20-year-old Jamarcus Morris are accused of firing multiple gunshots into a crowd of people near the intersection of 11th Avenue South and 6th Street South on July 6th. According to the charges, two groups were arguing when a car pulled up and three men got out and started shooting. In all, 33 shots were fired in the incident, and three men, between 19-21-years-old, and a 15-year-old boy were taken to the hospital. All three men are charged with four counts of 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. Garth and Ledbetter also face a charge of being a felon in possession of a gun.

--Multiple people were injured back on August 2nd after a vehicle failed to yield at Highway 210 and Elder Drive in Crow Wing County. The Baxter Police Department responded to the crash, reported at 2:08pm. According to the report, a 2020 Ford Escape was westbound on the highway when it attempted to turn south onto Elder Drive and failed to yield to a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe traveling eastbound on the highway. The driver of the Ford, Grace Lenore Werner, 84, of Crosslake, was transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd with a suspected serious injury. A passenger in the Ford, Donald Walter Middelstadt, 91, of Crosslake, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center. The driver of the Hyundai, Ariana Faye Juaire, 31, along with her passengers, Westly Lee Juaire, 33, and two juveniles, all of Brainerd, were transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center with suspected minor injuries.

--Great River Arts is presenting a Jazz Authority fundraiser on Thursday, August 18th. Arts are Alive in Central Minnesota with a cash bar, appetizers, silent auction and the Jazz performance will begin around 5pm at the arts center. Tickets are $39 for the entire evening of items with the proceeds going to help the Art Center and Karla Zeck on KLTF stated the monies are working toward going for a scholarship(s) from the art center for music students.
