--The Foley Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office have closed the investigations into the Mr. Jim’s burglary case reported on June 29th, and the Goodfella’s burglary case reported on July 6th. --Little Falls Community Schools Superintendent Stephen Jones appeared on Little Falls Radio Tuesday and discussed projects at the schools. Jones said that a water main was cut recently and flooded the high school gym but within a few days, they replaced the gym floor, sanded and the new bleachers put in before the first volleyball practice Monday. More projects at the high school included work on the concession stand and paving of the district's parking lots. The pavement money came from the referendum funds back in 2016 as other projects came in under budget. The Middle School received heating and cooling work, structural work, replaced the gym floor at the middle school and the locker rooms were updated to meet the Title 9 standards. Dr. S. G. Knight in Randall had received the most work this year with heating, ventilation, classroom expansions and parking lot work. Construction at the school in Randall may run a bit into the school year but most should be completed before the start of the school year September 4th. Superintendent Jones also mentioned a number of new faculty and new programs are being added this year. Next Monday, 27 members of the faculty will be touring businesses around Little Falls looking to see what opportunities for good paying jobs are available for students in our own community.

--Motorists should plan for heavy traffic volumes and congestion on Highway 371 and other Brainerd Lakes Area roads this Thursday through Sunday as some local roads are closed for construction, and more than 100,000 visitors expected to attend the 37th annual Lucas Oil National Hot Rod Association Nationals race at the Brainerd International Raceway. More congestion is expected in Brainerd and Baxter than during past NHRA Nationals race weeks. Motorists planning to travel in the Brainerd/Baxter area should be patient, expect delays, consider staggering their travel times and watch for slow traffic on Highway 371 and other area roadways. Recurring congestion and occasional stop-and-go traffic is expected on Highway 371 between Brainerd and Nisswa. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes and avoid the area, if possible.
