--Little Falls Community Schools is asking parents to help out with the update on students’ transportation for the 2020-21 school year. This information will help them be ready for the start of school on Tuesday, September 8th. Their intent is to send your students busing information to you via email. By updating information and completing any necessary forms as soon as possible, families will have the best chance of having a bus on the first day they return to in person learning. They understand transportation needs may change throughout the year. For everyone’s safety, face masks are required while riding the bus. Also, students will need to ride their assigned bus numbers. In order to help with contact tracing, riding to school or home with a friend will not be allowed. If you have moved since March 17th, 2020, please update your home address with your child’s school. The Alternative Address/Daycare Address form will need to be completed for busing to/from any address that is not home. The School Bus Waiver form must be completed for all students not needing busing this year. Both forms can be found on the District Transportation page. If you need assistance or have questions, please contact Michelle at (320) 632-2029. The school also wanted to pass on some information regarding educational expenses that might help you fare better on your 2020 taxes. Many of the school supplies you purchase for your child this year could reduce the taxes you pay and possibly lead to a larger refund next year. Save your receipts for these purchases and find out more information about the K-12 Education Credit and Subtraction and how to claim them by reviewing the MN Department of Revenue website.

--The Minnesota Department of Health stated there were 359 new cases of COVID-19 in the state Tuesday with 9 newly reported deaths. A reminder that even though over 66,000 has tested positive for the virus, nearly 60,000 are no longer in isolation as of yesterday. Since yesterday Morrison County reportedly had two cases taken away from the recent report, and now is at 102. It is likely this occurred when a case was confirmed or the test was done in one county but that person resides in a different county or state where they are in isolation after the test was confirmed to be positive. Morrison County was a cumulative total of 82 positive cases reported two weeks ago so we estimate around 20 current positive cases in isolation. This is an estimation because by the time cases are reported the person tested may already be a few days into the two week quarantine period.

–A 22-year-old Sartell man is accused of firing about 20 shots into the air at an outdoor memorial service in Stearns County. Hunter Jay Haugeto was charged with one felony count of intentionally discharging a firearm that endangers safety, one felony count of reckless discharge of a firearm within a municipality and one felony count of fifth-degree drug possession. According to the complaint, a police officer patrolling near a memorial service at Hester Park on Saturday saw Haugeto "walk into the middle of a crowd of approximately 50 people" and raise his hand into the air as the officer heard about 20 gunshots. The officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested Haugeto and found a handgun and about 8.5 grams of suspected cocaine. Several shell casings were found near where Haugeto fired the shots. Haugeto admitted to firing shots at the memorial service and made his court appearance on Tuesday.

--St. Cloud Police are warning residents about a phone scam that is circulating around the area. Numerous people have called the police department reporting they are receiving calls from someone impersonating an officer with the St. Cloud PD. The caller tells the victim there is a warrant for their arrest and then asks for personal information including their social security number and financial information. The caller also uses a "spoofing" technique to make them look like they are using a legitimate number for the police department. The St. Cloud Police Department does not call people telling them there is a warrant for their arrest and would never ask for personal information over the phone. Officers remind you to never give your personal information to someone you don't know and to hang up on the call as soon as you become suspicious.
