--Around 10:00am Monday the Morrison County Sheriff's office received a report of a residential burglary in progress on at a residence located off 370th Avenue, approximately 2 miles north of Highway 27 in Richardson Township. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the reporting party returned to the residence and witnessed a dark grey 4-door sedan with rust on the back fenders, small crack in the center of the windshield and black tape covering the rear license plate parked in the driveway near the house. The reporting party walked into the house and observed a male party standing in the living room, who was described as approximately 6’ 2” tall, 220 to 250 pounds, wearing a black ski mask, long sleeve black shirt, black gloves, black pants and black shoes with possibly a white Nike symbol on the outside of each shoe. The suspect pushed passed the reporting party and left the residence in the vehicle described above heading northbound on 370th Avenue. The reporting party was unsure about the make and model of the vehicle, but believed it was a mid-1990’s vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office believes that the reporting party had interrupted a burglary in progress at the residence. The residence was unlocked at the time of the incident and it is believed that no items were taken. Deputies responded to the scene and checked the surrounding area and local businesses, but were unable to locate the suspect or vehicle. Law enforcement agencies in neighboring counties were notified of the incident. The Sheriff’s Office wants the public to be aware of this incident and is reminding everyone to keep your residence secured by locking your doors and reporting any suspicious activity. The Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in attempting to locate the suspect and suspect vehicle in this matter. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office at 320-632-9233.

--A 43-year old woman suffered extensive facial injuries in an all terrain vehicle crash after the ATV landed on her at 1:00am Saturday at Brainerd International Raceway. The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office reported the ATV was traveling on the roadway when it stopped, suddenly causing the driver and passenger to be thrown from ATV. The ATV then landed on the passenger, Kristin Lee Roath of Prior Lake. Roath was transported to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the ATV, a 21-year old man from Sioux Falls, South Dakota was arrested for criminal vehicular operation.

--Two people were injured in a two vehicle crash Saturday just before 1pm in Baxter. The Baxter Police Department reported 70-year old Laurel L. Brusseau of Brainerd, was driving north on Golf Course Drive and crossed into the southbound traffic lane, colliding with a pickup pulling a trailer. Brusseau and her 13-year old passenger, Liberty L. Theien of Breezy Point were transported to a hospital by a private party. The driver of the truck, 61-year-old Gregory Tabor of Onamia was not hurt.

--A Todd County man was hurt in a farm accident. The Sheriff's Office says they were called to a home south of Verndale Monday night around 8:30. Timothy Wutzke of rural Verndale was working on a skid-loader when the machine had a mechanical failure causing Wutzke to be pinned. Wutzke was flown to North Memorial Hospital. His condition is not known.

--The 65th Princess Kay of the Milky Way will be crowned tonight at the State Fairgrounds Band shell at 8:00pm. The new Princess Kay will have her likeness carved in butter the next day at the state fair, which opens officially at 6:00am Thursday morning. The 11 others who are not named Princess Kay will also have their likenesses carved in butter during the 12 days of the fair. Members of the royal party will be shown off during the fair at their 2:00pm parades held each of the Fair Days August 23rd through September 3rd.

--Authorities are looking for the driver involved in a hit and run crash in Todd County over the weekend. The incident happened at about 12:30am Friday on Highway 71 and 450th Street in Kandota Township, north of Sauk Centre. The Minnesota State Patrol says 21-year old Jared Brever, of Long Prairie, was heading north on Highway 71 when another vehicle crossed the center line and struck Brever's vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle then left the scene. The vehicle is described as a 2007 Mercury Milan. Brever was taken to Sauk Centre Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

--A Brainerd man was injured Tuesday morning around 8:00am in Browerville Township when 62-year old Kevin Busbey was operating a semi truck that struck the guardrail on Highway 71 and rolled over onto his top. He was taken to the hospital with non-serious injuries.

--An Onamia man is dead after being struck by a vehicle Monday night around 10:20pm on Highway 169 in Kathio Township. 24-year old Jacob Corner was northbound on 169 when he was unable to stop in time and struck the man walking across the highway. The 35-year old from Onamia was dead at the scene. His name not released.

--Officials recovered a body near the Winnie Dam Recreational Area on Monday while searching for a missing man there. Law enforcement was using a National Guard helicopter on Monday to search the area for 35-year old Frank Sherman Jr. of Deer River. Authorities found the body “in the area” according to a press release. Officials did not say whether the body was Sherman, who last contacted his family on July 23rd. Deer River is 55 miles east of Bemidji on U.S. Highway 2 and the Winnie Dam Recreational Area is about 15 northwest of Deer River. The body was sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and identification. Police have stopped searching the area, pending investigation.

--The Smoke and Tires fundraiser is tonight 5-8pm at the Falls Ballroom to help the Morrison County Chaplaincy Program. Tickets can be purchased at the event tonight, with BBQ competition, live music, command center and classic cars on hand for the event.
