NEWS
--Motley City Hall has added a drug drop box for unused or unwanted prescription drugs. The Motley box is available during their regular business hours 9am-4pm Monday through Friday. There are also drop boxes located at the Little Falls Police Station, the Morrison County Sheriff's Office in the government center and inside the Pierz City Hall during business hours. Any questions on the drop boxes can be directed to 632-9233.

--A 23-month old girl who was run over by a vehicle on Saturday is in stable condition and recovering in a Twin Cities hospital, according to her mother. Kenzie Moran of Brandon was struck by a slow-moving vehicle while she was walking with her siblings across the parking lot near the beach area at Chippewa Park in Brandon Township. 32-year old Jason Borstad of Alexandria, was in the process of parking when the girl was struck. Several people who were also at the park were able to get the girl out from under the vehicle. The sheriff's office, which received the call at approximately 4:20pm Saturday, is investigating the incident. From the park, a LifeLink III helicopter airlifted the girl to Gillette Children's Hospital in the Twin Cities. As of Monday, Kenzie Moran condition was stable, and she was moved out of the pediatric intensive care unit into a regular room on Sunday.

--A two-vehicle crash Friday sent one driver to the hospital and left the other with a citation.The Baxter Police Department reported the crash occurred at 2:30pm Friday at the intersection of Elder Drive and Forthun Road in Baxter. According to the report, 60-year-old Donna Rae Niggeler of Brainerd was driving a Nissan north on Elder Drive and attempted to make a left turn, hitting a vehicle head-on at Forthun Road. The driver of the Buick, 47-year-old Matthew Raymond Mallie of Brainerd, suffered minor injuries. Police issued Niggeler a citation for crossing the centerline.

--A Conservation Officer from Crow Wing County reported that recently their group gave a law and ethics presentation to a firearms safety class that 18 kids attended. Time was spent patrolling the State Recreation Area (SRA) for illegal motor vehicle operation and park violations. Anglers and boaters were checked on several different lakes with a few fish seen in the bag. Calls of possible illegal filling of a wetland, possible illegal dredging of a waterway, and an assist to the State Patrol were handled. Many outdoor law-related questions were fielded throughout the week and weekend. A call of a person putting out corn in an area where there was a wildlife feeding ban was investigated and a call of some litter left in the park area was taken. The officers also seized a wild deer that someone had been raising in their home since it was a fawn - without a permit. The deer was transported to the Wild and Free Wildlife Rehabilitation center. Enforcement action for the week included various fishing, big-game, and boating violations.

--In anticipation of the transfer of ownership of the Pequot Lakes fire tower to Crow Wing County, Paul Thiede, county board chairman, will convene a community meeting at 6:30pm Wednesday, September 5th at the Cole Memorial Building in Pequot Lakes. Interested members of the public and groups that may want to join in the effort to reopen the tower for use by tower enthusiasts are invited to participate. Details of what has transpired leading up to this action will be shared at the meeting. Also, plans for the immediate and intermediate securing of the facility and its surroundings will be outlined.

--A fugitive suspected of removing an electronic monitoring bracelet Monday was found by police early Tuesday, according to Waite Park police. 37-year old Christopher Cox was released from prison on Monday after serving time for a third degree assault. His monitoring device was recovered from a dumpster in Waite Park around 2:30pm Monday. Tuesday morning around 6:30am police responded to a medical call at the nearby Asteria Inn and Suites in Waite Park. They located Cox in a bathroom of one of the motel rooms. Cox was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Stearns County Jail on a Department of Corrections apprehension and detention order, according to the Waite Park Police news release.

--A 24-year old Waite Park man and a 21-year old St. Cloud woman face felony charges after being arrested Thursday, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday in Benton County District Court. Brandian Edwin Emerson and Brooklynn Ann Streit-Applegate were each charged with one felony count of aiding and abetting in the unlawful possession of ammunition, one felony count of aiding and abetting receiving or being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle and one felony count of aiding and abetting in a fifth degree controlled substance crime. Emerson's next court date is scheduled for September 19th while Streit-Applegate's next court date is scheduled for September 20th.

Little Falls Radio is looking for a part time board operator. The hours are mostly evenings from 6:30-9:30pm and some weekends. Duties are working with a computer, playing commercials in live sports type broadcasts, answering phones and working with sports broadcasters.
