NEWS
–Stearns County released the name of the woman killed Monday morning in Sartell as 30-year old Casey Rose Myers of Holdingford. She was 5 months pregnant and the unborn fetus could not be saved. The semi driver, Corey Planck from Indiana stated to deputies he did not see the stop sign at a four-way stop and collided broadside into the passenger side of Myers vehicle. Planck was not injured.

–Charges are pending against 22-year old Daniel Hinz Jr. and 25-year old Ryan Schmidt, both from Staples, for their involvement in a theft that occurred at the Stanchfield Lake Access located in Scandia Valley Township of Morrison County. According to the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office, around 7:15pm on Friday they received a report that someone had their vehicle broken into at Stanchfield Lake Access. The complainant stated they were missing a Jiffy Propane 10 inch Ice Auger and a black backpack with their wallet inside. A deputy arrived on scene and spoke to a witness who gave a description of a possible suspect vehicle which was seen in the area. The deputy later located the suspect vehicle leaving the west access of Lake Alexander which is approximately five miles southwest from where the theft occurred. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and immediately noticed an ice auger that appeared similar to the one that was stolen. The deputy identified the occupants of the vehicle and conducted an investigation. The deputy was able to confirm that the suspects were in possession of the stolen items and they were recovered and returned to the owner. Daniel Hinz Jr. and Ryan Schmidt were arrested and brought to Morrison County Jail where they are awaiting formal charges.

–A 67-year-old Crosslake woman that was injured Saturday in an accident in Baxter has died. The Baxter Police Department reported the crash may have been caused after the woman, Mary K. Blexrud had a medical issue. Blexrud was transported to the Brainerd hospital and the hospital reported Monday morning that she had died. The crash remains under investigation.

–County superstar Garth Brooks announced that at the Governor’s request he will have a second show on May 3rd at U.S. Bank Stadium. The 50,000 tickets for the May 4th show sold out in less than 1 hour. Tickets for the 2nd show will go on sale December 20th.

–A Grinch is stealing Salvation Army kettles from stores in Minnesota. In the past week, stores in Brooklyn Park, Rogers and St. Paul have had Salvation Army kettles stolen. The Salvation Army stated that in the cases in Rogers and Brooklyn Park, video showed a black male wearing a white and black coat and it appears to be the same suspect. A blue truck is seen leaving the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact your local law enforcement or 911.

–A 31-year-old Brainerd man is accused of punching a woman with a closed fist multiple times and throwing an empty sippy cup that hit a 1-year-old child while the woman was feeding the child. Tyler James Switajewski was charged Thursday in Crow Wing County District Court in Brainerd with felony terroristic threats, gross misdemeanor of endangering a child in a situation that could cause harm and two misdemeanors of domestic assault. Bond was set at $30,000 with no conditions or $10,000 with conditions. His next court hearing will be on Janaury 7th. The woman stated Switajewski struck her multiple times in the head, face and shoulder and kicked and threatened to put a gun into her mouth if she tried to leave the house.

–If you live in the Little Falls area and hear loud booms like explosions today don’t be alarmed. An Air Force Reserve Unit from the Twin Cities will be detonating some old munitions at Camp Ripley north of Little Falls. The munitions were confiscated as part of a criminal investigation and were being held in a safe location in Rosemount. Munitions to be destroyed include hand grenades, blasting caps, detonating cords, and fuses. Although the AFR intends to detonate all materials today their permit allows them through December 31st in case of weather or conditions that may arise.

–A Sartell man faces assault charges after allegedly attacking two people and a Sartell Police Officer Thursday. 33-year-old Aaron Kraemer is charged with felony 4th-degree assault on a police officer and four misdemeanor counts of 5th-degree assault. Sartell police were called to a home around 5:30pm Thursday on a report of an assault in progress. According to the criminal complaint, a man and a woman were attacked by Kraemer without provocation. The victims say Kraemer came to the house with a bottle of liquor and began cleaning. The male victim later heard yelling down the hallway and went to see what was happening. The man said Kraemer was on top of the woman and yelling at her. When the man yelled at Kraemer to get off of her, Kraemer allegedly picked the man up out of his wheelchair and threw him onto the ground. The woman tried to intervene and records show Kraemer grabbed her and pushed her into another room and got on top of her again. The male victim tried to get Kraemer off the woman and said Kraemer again threw him down and began punching and choking him. When police arrived, they say Kraemer was still on top of the man. Officers commanded Kraemer to get off the victim and he allegedly told them to tase him. As police separated Kraemer from the victim, he began to struggle and allegedly kicked the officer in the knee.

–Next Wednesday is the Nashville Country Christmas Show supporting Mary of Lourdes Schools at the Falls Ballroom. Kenny and Diana Janson and their son Zach from Nashville along with Steve Hall and Shotgun Red will be there to put on a great show. Doors open at 5, dinner at 5:30 and show at 6:45pm with another show later in the night. Tickets are $40 and available at the Tri Parish office and school offices in Little Falls and at Little Falls Radio today from 8am-5pm.

–Due to generous donations from the community the Kare Kloset at Little Falls Community High School can no longer accept clothing donations at this time. The Kare Kloset is currently accepting food and cash donations only. If people are interested in donating, they can drop food off at Door #1 at Little Falls Community High School.
