NEWS
--Morrison County has been put in a Winter Storm Warning until 9pm tonight. Snow totals of 5-10 inches is possible with heavy snow throughout the day. Most of Minnesota will see snow at some time with the largest amounts will be in the southern half of the state where some 12-14 inch amounts are possible by tonight. This is just the start of three different waves of snow with more Friday and another wave Saturday and Sunday before all is done for now. The Morrison County Sheriff's Office is asking motorists to please use extra caution with the snow, poor visibility and icy conditions on roadways across the county and for that matter most of the state.

--Snow amounts around Morrison county are adding up. This is requiring Maintenance crews to be out removing and pushing snow back from bridges/guardrails and intersections around the county. Crews will be using motor graders, tractors and skidsteer with snow blowing capabilities to clear snow away at various locations to improve sight distance and provide for additional snow storage. This work may require lane closures and flaggers at times. Please use caution when driving in work zones.

--28-year old Curtis Joe Marshik of Rice was convicted of felony first degree DWI and fleeing police in a motor vehicle charges in Morrison County District Court. The charges stem from a June 9th incident, when a deputy with the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an individual harassing other customers at a bar near Hillman. As the deputy approached the bar, he received word the suspect had left and was riding a motorcycle east on Nature Road. When the deputy attempted to pull the motorcycle over, it allegedly accelerated to speeds exceeding 100 mph and did not stop despite the deputy turning on the lights and siren on his squad car. The deputy lost sight of the motorcycle, but eventually found it lying in some brush on the side of the road next to the driver, allegedly identified as Marshik. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for medical care and law enforcement obtained a search warrant for a blood sample, which allegedly came back with a blood alcohol concentration of .188. Marshik was sentenced to 112 days in jail and was given credit for 112 days served. He was also sentenced to seven years of supervised probation and was fined $215.

--49-year old Victor Alfred Nennig of Wadena, and 62-year old Jean Laree Nennig of Little Falls, are facing felony financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult charges in Morrison County District Court. The charges stem from an incident in June 2018, when a relative of an individual at a nursing home in Little Falls became their emergency guardian and conservator because the individual was about to be evicted. This triggered an investigation into the handling of the victim’s finances, which were allegedly handled by the Nennigs since 2017. The two allegedly lived at the victim’s home rent free after he was placed in the nursing home in December 2017, and allowed others to stay there. The victim’s name was not removed from the utilities for the home. The Nennigs also allegedly failed to sign the victim up for medical assistance to help maintain the victim’s care at the nursing home. Social Services allegedly found $30,000 in transactions from the victim’s account that did not benefit him. These allegedly included the purchase of ATV parts, computer games and mobile phones. If convicted, both Victor and Jean could face up to 10 years prison and/or $20,000 fine.

--Little Falls Community High School Activities Office is trying to send a charter fan bus to the quarterfinal round of the state girls hockey tournament. Puck drop is 1:00pm on Thursday vs. White Bear Lake. The fan bus would load at 9:15am in the LFCHS student lot and leave at 9:30am Thursday. The deadline to sign up for the bus is noon on Wednesday. --35-year old Elliot Arden Fleischman of Pierz, is facing a felony fourth degree assault on a peace officer charge in Morrison County District Court. The charge stems from a February 10th incident, when a Morrison County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a domestic incident. An individual allegedly said Fleischman had punched him in the face before locking himself in a room. Fleischman allegedly refused the deputy’s request to exit the room and law enforcement entered the room once backup arrived. Fleischman allegedly threw a cup at the officers, though it did not hit them, and refused to exit the room. When officers were escorting Fleischman out of the room, he allegedly spit on a deputy’s leg. If convicted, Fleischman could face up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.

--38-year old Patrick Daniel Priebe of Rochester, was convicted Wednesday of felony fifth degree drug possession in Morrison County District Court. The charge stemmed from a September 31st, 2016 incident, when a vehicle Priebe was in was pulled over for an equipment violation. Priebe had bloodshot eyes, dilated pupils and flushed skin. He also would not make eye contact with the officer. Law enforcement separated Priebe from the other individual in the vehicle and brought him to the squad car. He gave officers conflicting stories about where the two were going. In the pair’s vehicle, over 22 grams of methamphetamine was found, along with 50 used and new needles and other drug paraphernalia. Meth residue and a scale were found in Priebe’s jacket. He said he had borrowed the scale to weigh marijuana. Priebe was sentenced to 34 days in jail and was given credit for 34 days served. He was also sentenced to five years of probation and was fined $135.

--Bernie Sanders announced that he will seek the DFL endorsement for President of the United States. Sanders becomes the 11th candidate to announce they are running for U.S President in 2020.

GHK= Brainerd/Little Falls vs. White Bear Lake Thursday around 1pm following the first game at the State Tournament at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The game will be heard live on Q92 WYRQ and online at fallsradio.com. The Warriors will also play on Friday.
