NEWS
--Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen wants to update the public concerning the sexual assault case near Royalton that was reported to their agency on July 22nd. Morrison County Investigators have learned that the person of interest is a known acquaintance to the victim. The sheriff’s office has identified the person of interest and there is no danger to the public. No further information is available at this time due to the active investigation. The Sheriff's Office would like to thank the public for their assistance.

--The Little Falls Fire Department responded to a car fire on Sunday at 2:40pm on County Road 238 and 140th Street. 19-Little Falls Firefighters were on scene for about 45 minutes. The vehicle owned by Hannah Schneider of Swanville was totaled. There were no injuries. The Little Falls Fire Department also provided mutual aid to the Bowlus Fire Department on Saturday around 3:00pm for a hay bale fire at the David Czech residence located at 10854 Highway 238. Over 100 bales of hay caught fire.

--A mayfly hatch caused the large power outage Saturday night that impacted the west side of Little Falls and Pike Creek Township affecting around 1,400 people. Mayflies were two feet deep that covered an insulator and caused the outage on Saturday night. Power went out shortly after 10:00pm and was restored just before 1am.

--A Sauk Rapids man has been charged with murder in the death of a woman over the weekend. 37-year-old David Williams Jr. is charged with two counts of 2nd-degree murder for the beating death of 30-year-old Crystal Bundy. Sauk Rapids Police were called to an apartment unit in the 1200 block of 1st Avenue North early Saturday for an unresponsive woman there. According to the charges, police found Bundy dead with dried blood, bruises, black eyes and strangulation marks on her neck. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A preliminary autopsy showed Bundy had traumatic injuries including extensive bruising and bleeding on the brain. The cause of death is listed as blunt force trauma. The call came in around 3am Saturday, but police say Bundy's body was already cold and stiff. Williams was at the scene and declined to give police a statement. He is being held in the Benton County Jail. Bundy leaves behind four children ages two-to-seven years-old.

--The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing juvenile. Back on June 4th Randall Weisser, age 17 of Foley, was reported to have run away from a shelter care facility in St. Cloud. Randall is described as African-American male who is about 5’10” tall, weighing about 240 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. Weisser was reported found safe some days later. Investigators now have received information indicating that Randall’s recent personal choices are endangering his own well-being and again has left the facility in St. Cloud. Information has been received indicating that Randall is likely in the St. Cloud area. Anyone seeing Randall or anyone with information about where Randall may be is asked to contact the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at (320) 968-7201.

--A two-vehicle crash on Highway 25 east of Brainerd left one driver with injuries that are not life-threatening. 32-year-old Nicole Aamodt, of Brainerd was northbound on the highway at about 5:15pm in Oak Lawn Township Saturday when 25-year-old Mariah Tholl of Brainerd, was southbound on the highway attempted to make a left turn when she was struck by Aamodt's vehicle. Aamodt was taken to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center. Tholl was not injured.

--The St. Cloud Police Department is investigating an assault that happened Sunday morning. Authorities say officers responded shortly after 7:30am to a report of an assault in progress on University Drive South at 8th Avenue South. The caller told police two men were beating a third person with some type of pole. Officers found the 32-year old victim at the scene. Based on his injuries, authorities say they believe the weapon used in the assault may have been a wooden shovel handle. The victim was taken to St. Cloud Hospital and is currently in critical condition. His name has not been released. Police say they believe the assault was likely a continuation of a fight reported in the 700 block of 14th Street South earlier that morning and that this was not a random incident. Authorities did not release descriptions of the suspects but say they received information that a bystander may have video recorded the assault using their cell phone. --St. John's University has named an interim president. The Board of Trustees has announced Eugene McAllister will fill that role. Back in May Michael Hemesath announced he would be stepping down on August 1st, after seven years as president. McAllister was the president of the University of Great Falls in Montana from 2003 to 2016. He also worked in government positions including stints as White House Special Assistant to the President.

--The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from a mandated reporter of potential criminal activity involving a staff member of the St. John’s Boys’ Choir. These allegations were brought forward by youth members of the St. John’s Boys’ Choir. The Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the complaint. St. John’s University is aware of the investigation and is cooperating. No further information is available as the investigation is active and ongoing.

REGION 8C= with postponement on Sunday, the games on Saturday at Pierz Legion Park go as followed, Randall vs. Pierz Bulldogs at 11am (elimination game), St. Stephen vs. Nisswa at 1:30pm (winners bracket), Ft. Ripley vs. Avon at 4:30pm (winners bracket) and the final game is Upsala vs. Buckman at 7pm (elimination game). All games on Saturday are on KLTF.
