NEWS
--There will be a sendoff for the Little Falls Flyer Baseball team today at 1:30pm with the help from several entities including a fire truck from the Little Falls Fire Department starting in the south parking lot of the Little Falls Community High School, also known as the horseshoe parking lot. The Flyers are heading to the Minnesota State Baseball Tournament in Class AAA for a state quarterfinal game Thursday afternoon against St. Thomas Academy at 5:30pm from Siebert Field in Minneapolis at the University of Minnesota. --A St. Cloud man faces assault charges after he allegedly cut another man's ear. The incident happened at about 9:45pm Wednesday night in the 400 block of 9th Avenue North in St. Cloud. Police say they responded to a large fight in the area, where they found a 25-year-old St. Cloud man with a cut to his ear. Police learned the victim was hurt by 20-year-old Vincent Tran, who was found nearby, with some minor injuries of his own. Tran was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for his injuries. While at the hospital, police say he tried to run from officers but was caught. Tran was taken to Stearns County Jail where he faces charges of 2nd Degree Assault and Escaping from Custody. The victim was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

--A 45-year-old Isle man was arrested Thursday, and charged by the Aitkin County Attorney's Office with drug- and weapon-related offenses after a traffic stop. Chez William Guyer was driving a semitractor-trailer on Highway 18 along the north shore of Mille Lacs Lake when an alert motorist witnessed him driving erratically and called 911. An Aitkin County sheriff's deputy who was patrolling in the vicinity located Guyer, witnessed his driving and stopped Guyer. The Minnesota State Patrol assisted the sheriff's office. After Guyer was arrested he was charged with drug possession, possesion of a pistol without a permit, DWI, no proof of insurance and other charges that will filed in the Aitkin County Attorney's Office.

--A man is dead after being hit by a train in Frazee at 12:15am Sunday, June 9. The incident happened between the Lake Street and Fifth Street crossings. The investigation is ongoing and the name of the victim will be released after notification of relatives.

--A semi driver was hurt when the truck he was driving rolled. The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened just after 11:30pm Monday. Fifty-seven-year-old Walter Ressemann of Swanville was going east on Interstate 94 and turning onto northbound Highway 15. While on the ramp, the semi rolled onto its side. Ressemann was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

--Authorities have released the names of the two St. Cloud residents found dead in a parked vehicle last week. Police say they've been identified as 28-year-old Mateo Fernando and 29-year-old Laurie Headbird. St. Cloud Assistant Police Chief Jeff Oxton says the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office has not determined a cause of death yet, but suggests no foul play is suspected.

--Coborn's Pharmacy has agreed to pay a civil penalty for allegedly failing to comply with federal record keeping requirements that allowed a pharmacist to divert opioids for personal use. In a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Coborn's Incorporated has agreed to the $225,000 civil penalty and made changes to its electronic record keeping system and compliance protocols. After learning of the misconduct, Coborn's reported the theft to the Drug Enforcement Administration. An investigation revealed the employee had created nine patient accounts and numerous false prescriptions to get drugs like oxycodone and hydrocodone between 2011 and 2015. As part of the Controlled Substances Act, companies are required to keep complete and accurate records regarding the receipt and dispensing of such narcotics. The U.S. Attorney's Office says an audit revealed the record keeping lapses and Coborn's has made changes to ensure compliance moving forward. Federal officials say the pharmacist in charge ultimately pleaded guilty to obtaining controlled substances by fraud. The U.S. Attorney's Office did not say which of the Coborn's pharmacies the violations occurred at.

--The Cultural Center in New York Mills announced Jennifer Nelson of Fridley won the 2019 Great American Think-Off Saturday, June 8th, in New York Mills. During the debate, the four finalists argued their side of the question, "To vote or not to vote: does it matter?" and moderator Ashley Hanson guided the debate with questions from the Think-Off committee and the live audience. After three rounds of sometimes lively but always civil debate, the audience voted to select Nelson as this year's Think-Off winner and to uphold her position that voting does matter. Nelson, a native of Morris, works as a research consultant at the Minnesota House of Representatives. There she provides elected officials with additional research and analysis on proposed state legislation related to transportation, housing and capital investment.

--As of late yesterday afternoon, the Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union medallion has not been turned in so continue to listen at 8:25am today for next clue on Little Falls Radio and then online at the MMFCU.org website beginning at 9am. $500 cash when found.
