NEWS
–The Little Falls Flyer Baseball team lost to #1 seed New Prague on Tuesday afternoon 10-5 in Jordan. Little Falls will be in the consolation semi-finals today at 2:30pm against Benilde-St. Margaret's from Chaska on AM960 KLTF. If the Flyers win they would play again around 5:30pm tonight also on AM960 KLTF.

--Congratulations to Abby Turkowski who shot an 87 yesterday and Imagine Hines shot a 96 for Little Falls at the State Girls Golf Tournament which wraps up today for both boys and girls.

--Charlie Gunderson spoke on the Morrison County Fair Monday on KLTF Party Line. The Fair is already here next week June 22nd-24th at the Fairgrounds east of Little Falls. Thursday is Military day, Friday is Motoring day with Classic Car Show, Saturday is Kids day. There will be rodeo event on Saturday, live music, Gopher State Carnival, exhibits and so much more. The 80th Year of Morrison County Ag Society at the Fair so there will be fireworks on Friday night at dusk. Charlie said there are exhibitor guides available at area banks or by contacting the Fairgrounds at 320-632-1040. More details on fair events can be found at fallsradio.com click on the fair logo.

--A home fire alarm system likely saved a family as their garage caught fire early Monday on the 20000 block of Carolyn Lane, north of North Long Lake in Unorganized Territory. The Brainerd Fire Department responded to the attached garage fire, which was reported at 1:42am and found the fire to be mostly out. The homeowner was awakened by a whole home alarm system, which had a sensor in the garage that sounded the alarm in the house. The homeowner was able to use a fire extinguisher and a hose to control the fire until the fire department's arrival. Firefighters finished putting the fire out and checked to see if the fire spread. They were on scene for about an hour and no one was injured.

--A cyclist had to jump off his bike to avoid being hit by a car south of Big Lake last week. The Minnesota State Patrol said that 22-year-old Ellie Visser of Big Lake was going north on Highway 25 when it left the road and rolled on June 6th. Matthew Chandler, a 44-year-old from Monticello, was on a bicycle riding south against traffic. Near County Road 17, Chandler had to jump off his bike to avoid being hit by the SUV. Chandler was sent to Monticello Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Visser was not injured in the crash.

--An abandoned house used by squatters caught fire Saturday on the 400 block of B Street in Brainerd. The Brainerd Fire Department responded to the fire, reported at 1:47am by a passerby. When first responders arrived they found flames coming from the second-story windows. Holmes said the house was known to first responders as a place used by squatters and a primary and secondary search was conducted to locate any individuals in the home. None were found.
Holmes said firefighters were on scene for roughly 4.5 hours until about 6:30am and assistance was requested from the Deerwood Fire Department. No injuries were reported. Before the fire, the house was abandoned and determined to be uninhabitable.

--Two people were injured Monday, after their vehicles collided, flipping one on its side at Southeast 13th and Norwood streets in Brainerd. The Brainerd Police Department responded to the crash and found both drivers suffered minor injuries. One driver, a 60-year-old woman, was transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center and the other driver, a 62-year-old man, was treated at the scene. Both drivers were from Brainerd.

--The city of Sartell is officially taking over ownership of the former paper mill site this week. The city council began the purchase agreement process for the multiple AIM properties and 167 acres back in August of last year. One of the first actions was a community survey where over 800 residents responded, along with 90 other stakeholders and community leaders. The survey shows that the city wishes to use the site as a mixed-use development. Boutique-type local retail stores and restaurants, office spaces, and perhaps some level of higher-density residential. Residents also want the property to have recreational opportunities that utilize the Mississippi River. The paper mill has been a question of interest on what to do with the site after it was announced to be closing which came after an explosion and fire at Verso Paper Mill happened in May of 2012.

--The Brainerd Ski Loons will be performing four FREE water ski shows at Lum Park in Brainerd. There are two July show dates: July 16th and July 30th and two August show dates: August 13th and August 16th at 6:30pm, the other three shows start at 5pm. Experience human ski pyramids, ski jumping, barefooting, stilt skiing, and so much more. Concessions will be available. Free will donations are appreciated. Please bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating.

FLAG DAY/ARMY DAY HISTORY
--In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. The Flag Resolution, passed on June 14, 1777, stated: "Resolved, That the flag of the thirteen United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation." The United States Army also celebrates the U.S. Army birthday on this date; Congress adopted "the American continental army"on June 14, 1775. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day each year in the United States.

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS
--Longtime Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak has announced he will retire from the game show hosting duties at the end of his 41st and upcoming season. The 76-year-old Sajak replaced Chuck Woolery as the Wheel of Fortune host in 1981, then the following year Vanna White joined the show in 1982 as the letter turner.

HS BAB= Perham beat Foley 7-4 yesterday at State Tournament. Sartell lost to Rosemount, BBE advanced to the semi-finals.
