NEWS
--A man was injured in a snowmobile crash near Holdingford. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Clayton Dobmeier was riding near the intersection of County Road 17 and 147th Avenue when he hit a fence post. The accident was reported around 2:15pm on Saturday afternoon. Officials say the Holdingford man suffered a substantial cut to his left leg from the metal post. The fence post came through the bottom of the snowmobile and struck Dobmeier’s leg causing the laceration. After being treated on scene, Dobmeier was transported to the hospital by a private party. Deputies say numerous fence posts were snow-covered with only a few inches exposed and were hard to see.

--Randall Mayor Dan Noss put on many hats when he stopped by KLTF on Tuesday morning. First in the city of Randall the Water Treatment Facility is planning to start online by end of April they do have two wells and though not a major issue with the well running it will be very beneficial when all completed next month. The treatment center was flooded last year in the flooding that occurred at the end of June last year. They are planning their 4th of July weekend celebration later this year on Saturday July 1st in Randall and the VFW Car Show on July 2nd. Noss with his DAV hat stated that Veterans Day on the Hill is March 30th at the State Capitol with a lunch provided and items at the St. Paul Armory before meeting with legislature in the rotunda of the Capitol at 1pm. There will be a bus going to the event from Little Falls leaving the Wal-Mart parking lot at 7:30am. If you wish to go contact James Storlie or Dan Noss for info. Noss wearing his Fishing Museum hat said their big fundraiser Night with the Fishing Pros Fundraiser is this Friday at 4pm with doors open and 6pm with dinner and event at Rice Creek Hunting and Event Center. --The Brainerd Police Department will have a new police chief in June. Current Deputy Chief John Davis was approved by the Brainerd City Council Monday to be the city’s next police chief. The promotion will be effective June 3, the day after current Police Chief Mike Bestul’s retirement, and Davis agreed to Step 3 of the police chief wage grid or $54.18 per hour. Bestul said he was talking to Davis the other day and was glad a couple of Brainerd lakes area natives were able to be police chiefs in the town they grew up in.

--The Brainerd Police Department announced in a Facebook post that they found Jennifer Bexell, a woman reported missing back on Sunday. No new information was provided about the case. They originally requested the public’s help in finding a missing woman. In a Facebook post, the department said they were looking for Jennifer Bexell because her family had become concerned for her well being. She again was found Monday and is safe.

--Governor Tim Walz Monday signed into law Chapter 17, House File 112 postponing the next review and revision of the physical education standards from the 2022-2023 school year to the 2026-2027 school year. In 2017, the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) adopted the most recent Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) physical education standards, replacing the National Association of Sport and Physical Education standards. Delaying this standards review process will provide relief to physical education teachers by allowing them to focus on implementing the current standards for students.

--The Little Falls Chamber of Commerce's Purva Watten stated on Tuesday that the holiday light take down was initially scheduled for March 31st due to logistical and operational reasons has been postponed. A new date and details will be announced after all the logistics are worked out. --More information on a shooting Monday in Wright County. One man is dead and another man arrested following a shooting in Howard Lake Monday. Authorities were called to the 300 block of Dura Drive just after noon on reports of a shooting. Police arrived and found the victim, 20-year-old Adrian Montano Medina of Lester Prairie, with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect had left the scene before authorities arrived. Authorities say a witness at the scene was able to get a description of the suspects vehicle and license plate before they fled the scene. A Wright County Deputy was able to find the vehicle in the city of Waverly and conducted a traffic stop. Arrested was 23-year-old Kevin Zelayo Asencio of Glencoe. Police say they also found a gun inside the vehicle. Asencio was taken to the Wright County Jail.

--An Albany woman was hurt in a rollover crash over the weekend. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office said around 1:30am Saturday, a rollover crash on County Road 10 near Orchard Road in Albany Township. Authorities say 41-year-old Stephanie Jacobs, lost control of her vehicle after hitting a snow drift and rolled into the ditch. Jacobs suffered minor injuries in the accident.

--Sister Julien at the Convent said they received 64 units of blood on Monday, that was down a bit from their goal. Today is the final day of the blood drive and as of yesterday morning still had openings available. Call 320-632-0663. Today the blood drive is 8:30-2:30pm.
