NEWS
--Today is the Day of Caring for Little Falls, Randall, Flensburg and Sobieski. Motorists be aware of the volunteers, students and others out walking between 8:30-12pm between projects to make it safe. Someone has to be at the residence for the work to be completed.

--Voters in the Sauk Rapids-Rice School District have voted down the facilities referendum of 93-million dollars. Though official numbers are still being tallied with official results on tomorrow's newsletter it was reported by school officials that the referendum failed in Sauk Rapids-Rice by nearly 1,300 votes.

--The Little Falls city council met Monday night. At the meeting the council received several donations including a bench for Veterans Memorial Park, a picnic table for the Hidden Acres Addition and a plaque for the Lindbergh Lions Recreational Complex. The council also adopted the updated polling locations for the city. They are as follows: east side of the city from Mississippi River and north of Highway 27, Little Falls City Hall; east side of the city from Mississippi River and south of Highway 27, the Initiative Foundation; west side of the city, Bethel Lutheran Church. The council also heard a presentation by Brigadier General Lowell Kruse regarding the economic impact of Camp Ripley to the area and on the upcoming training schedule. The next Little Falls city council meeting will be Monday, May 21st at 7:30pm.

--Stearns County Sheriff's Office dive teams announced last night that they have pulled a body from the Mississippi River in St. Cloud. The search began Monday afternoon after witnesses spotted an adult male jumping into the water and did not resurface. Chief Deputy Jon Lentz says they searched the banks Monday night and Tuesday and using a boat with sonar on Tuesday afternoon and evening they found a pair of blue jeans and markers were used for dive teams to check the water nearby and around 8:25pm last night they found the body. The body has been taken for an autopsy for proper identification and cause of death.

--Stearns County reported around 10:45am Tuesday, 65-year-old Joseph Hildibrand Boeckers of Holdingford was knocked down by a steer and was unconscious. Witnesses indicated that the steer had hit a gate in the chute area causing Boeckers to fly backwards striking his head. This occurred at the Central Livestock Facility near Albany. When authorities arrived Boeckers was conscious but confused, he was taken to Albany hospital and then transferred to St. Cloud for further treatment of injuries sustained.

--Authorities arrested a group home client Tuesday after he allegedly stabbed an employee in the back at the home in East Gull Lake. Cass County authorities arrived and arrested a 57-year-old East Gull Lake woman, formal charges are pending. The victim was taken to the Brainerd Hospital where they were treated for non-serious injuries. The investigation into the stabbing continues.

--Investigators are seeking information about a fire that destroyed the 4-H building at Ann Lake Campground in Orrock Township of Sherburne County around 5:45pm on May 5th. The fire caused over $180,000 in damages to the building and the contents inside. The building was engulfed when firefighters arrived and its believed that a campfire started in the campground jumped into the grass and spread to the building. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office at 763-765-3500.

--The Little Falls Senior Awards banquet was held Monday evening. At the banquet Jacob Kapphahn was named Male Athlete of the Year while Alice Foote and Sophia Sowada were named co-Female Athletes of the Year. Katie Orth and AJ Jenks were both awarded the US Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award. Mitchell Schirmirs was named the John Philip Sousa Award recipient while Cary Armagost received the Louis Armstrong Award. Monday's guest speaker was high school social studies teacher and assistant boys' basketball coach Randy Tabatt who will be retiring this year after teaching 33 years at the Little Fallls Community High School. Also recognized at the banquet were the letter recipients for 2017-18, AAA award winners Sophia Sowada and Logan Schuett and 11 three sport athletes. Congratulations to all students who took awards Monday. Tonight the scholarship program at the High School will take place where students receive scholarships from many area organizations including the Little Falls Kiwanis Club and others starting at 7pm. In Pierz they have their awards program tonight at 6pm at the PAC.

--Four central Minnesota fire departments responded to a house fire in Meeker County Monday, but the house was ultimately destroyed. Fire crews were called to the home just south of Grove City at about 4:45pm. The homeowner, 63-year-old Joyce Boxell was outside when the fire started and was not hurt. Meeker County Sheriff Brian Cruze says the house caught fire from embers that had reignited after a controlled burn on the property. The house is a total loss.

--A Sauk Centre man was hurt after crashing his motorcycle. The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened just after 4:30pm Monday on Highway 4, at County Road 14, in Spring Hill Township. Troopers say 65-year-old Roger Quistorff of Sauk Centre was driving north when another vehicle pulled out in front of him. The motorcycle locked up the brakes and crashed onto the road. Quistorff was taken to Sauk Centre Hospital with non-life threatening injuries

--The Minnesota Department of Transportation will end spring weight restrictions in the central frost zone May 11th. The northern zone which is north of Highway 200 near Walker will continue until later this month due to the cooler conditions still forecast this week.

--Xcel Energy crews worked to restore power to customers in St. Cloud, Sartell and Sauk Rapids. The utility company says over 5,000 customers were without power from 2:50-4:30pm Tuesday.

--Join Q92's Al Windsperger live from 5-9am this Friday from the Governor's Fishing Opener on Green Lake in Spicer. He will be talking with many about fishing and the opener which begins on Saturday.
