–Tim Sumner informed Little Falls Radio Tuesday morning that they have reached their number of around 85 volunteers for the Annual Thanksgiving Meal on November 28th at the Little Falls Community High School. He was very pleased at the number of calls he received in the past few days alone and thanks all who have signed up to volunteer on the 28th at the High School from 11am-1pm. Tim said he no longer needs volunteers but now needs a lot of eaters to fill up the commons area of the high school on the 28th to come and enjoy.

–The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office has shared on Facebook a video showing ways to be aware of the signs and symptoms of Heroin Addiction. The video displays signs to be aware of from environmental signs like burned carpet, missing vent screws, blackened fingers, torn Q tip buds, and sunglasses case nearby to behavioral signs like loss of appetite, stealing, itchy arms/neck/legs, anxiety and wearing long sleeves to cover up needle marks (especially when weather does not require warmer clothes). Parents, talk to your kids about the dangers of all drugs. Prevention and education need to remain a priority. If you are in a situation like this and you need help, call St. Gabriel’s Family Medical Center at 631-7274. The sheriff’s office is asking others to share this video to help deliver the message.

–A team of community leaders recently came together to build a new community trail for cross country ski teams in central Minnesota. Just east of the old Sartell High School near the soccer fields are new trails for the daily training of area ski teams and recreation for the community at large. The ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Monday, November 18th to commemorate its opening. The Nordic Ski Club of Central Minnesota spearheaded the project. The City of Sartell, Sartell High School, Design Electric, and Traut Companies worked together to create new trails that are groomed, well-maintained and open to the public. To create the snow base, the Nordic Ski Club purchased a stand-alone fan gun which can be pulled to different areas. It breaks water into small particles, then cools the water, removes the heat of fusion, and nucleates creating snow. Traut Companies installed a booster pump on the fan gun to enable longer spray lengths. Together they built up a snow cover base that should remain usable for the entire season unless temperatures reach 50 degrees. Design Electric trenched in underground electrical connection boxes along the trail to power the fan gun while the high school provided water and electricity. The city will help maintain the trails moving forward.

–The Meeker County Sheriff’s Department is investigating what appears to be sabotage in a cornfield west of Hutchinson. Sheriff Brian Cruze says on Monday they received a report that farmer John Johnson was harvesting corn in a field in Cedar Mills Township when a chain did damage to his combine. Initially, when he picked up a chain on the combine it was close enough to the road where they didn’t really think too much of it. But then as they got into the corn there was another incident and obviously thought there is more to this. And then when looking at it they found the corn stock had been wrapped. So very much intentional. Cruze says the chain did minor damage to the combine, which shut itself down to prevent more serious damage. He says at this point they don’t know who did it or why. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police.

–The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reported Tuesday that there were 153,643 deer harvested during the two weeks of the firearms deer hunting season in 2019. Compared to 2018, which the final tally was just over 188,000. There are still a few styles of hunting left to complete this season but totals expect to be lower than last year. Over 56.3% of the deer taken with adult male bucks, while 30.4% were adult female does. In the zones around Morrison County it was reported over 2,300 deer in the eastern zone of Morrison which includes northern Benton and western Mille Lacs County, while 678 were reported taken in western Morrison into portions of Todd County. One top area for hunters this year the region in northern Minnesota around the Chippewa National Forest where in the four regions nearly 6,700 deer were taken.

–A St. Cloud man is charged with robbing a man at knifepoint early Friday. 25-year-old Joseph Sutherland is charged with felony 1st-degree aggravated robbery with a dangerous weapon. St. Cloud Police were called to the 3700 block of Roosevelt Road around 1am Friday on a robbery complaint. A man said he was getting out of his truck when another man walked up to him and demanded his wallet. When the victim said he didn’t have his wallet on him, Sutherland is accused of pulling out the knife and threatening to use it. Records show the victim dropped his backpack and began to run away. He also saw Sutherland allegedly grab the pack and flee into the woods. Police found Sutherland sitting in a vehicle, with a pocket knife and sweating profusely. Sutherland denied being in the area of the robbery and said he was looking for coyote tracks. Officers say they discovered footprints in the snow similar to Sutherland’s boots. They also found the victim’s backpack nearby. Sutherland is due in court next week.

–The former Marco building on Division Street in St. Cloud is coming down. Owner Gary Marsden says Marco moved into that building in 1987.
