The plan was to start the work in late June or early July, but the project is tied to some federal money which delayed the start. Instead, work will begin on Monday with the final concrete course poured in the spring of 2024. Once the bridge closes, traffic will have to be detoured either south via I-94 and Highway 23 or County Road 134 to the north. The nearly $5-million project is scheduled to be completed next June. --Thursday is Thanksgiving. A Federal Holiday on the 4th Thursday of November starting back around the times of the U.S. Civil War. The holiday dates back to the Pilgrims and Native Americans who feasted after surviving their first year in the colonies back in the 1620s. Tomorrow all government agencies are closed, banks, financial institutions, post offices, no mail delivery, many businesses, and fast food places are closed and unlike previous years many stores, even big box stores are closed Thursday for Thanksgiving Day. Some grocery stores, gas stations and others are open tomorrow with special hours at some for your thanksgiving needs. Also some businesses, government offices (like the government center) and others are likely to be closed also on Friday using the day as a floating holiday from earlier in the year so best to check ahead to see what is open on Friday. Banks and post offices will reopen on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving that a day to check ahead on places.

--Friday is Black Friday, in the past a day that stores would get back into the black on holiday sales. In previous years stores would open very early to get the shoppers in waiting overnight and through the day with many deals. Most big box stores have monthly deals and do not do the big open early or late anymore some Friday are not even opening before 6am or 7am this year. Smaller stores wait for their big deals on Saturday which is Small Business Saturday to get the holiday going strong. It was also reported in the past 5-10 years that the Saturday before Christmas has become the biggest shopping boom of the last years as many now wait closer to Christmas to buy items.
