--There will a Prescription Take Back event on Saturday, October 23rd from 10am-2pm at Coborns Pharmacy. You are encouraged to drop off your unsused or expired prescription drugs free of charge. They ask the drugs being in a plactic baggie and not in the pill vial which may have personal information on it. The event is being put on by Stand Up For U from the Little Falls Community High School, Little Falls Police Department, Morrison County Sheriff's Office and Coborns to help protect families, community and the environment.

--Crow Wing County Sheriff Scott Goddard reports that on Monday at 6:05pm deputies responded to the Little Rabbit Lake Boat Access in Ironton for a welfare check. A citizen reported seeing an unoccupied boat drifting approximately 75 feet off the shoreline not far from the boat launch area. The citizen also reported seeing a pair of socks and shoes sitting on the dock. With the assistance of the citizen, Deputies were able to recover the unoccupied boat. Deputies did search the area around the unoccupied boat and the boat launch area, but were unable to locate anyone. Deputies searched the water and area until darkness stopped the search. On Tuesday morning at 9:15am the Crow Wing County Recreational Division and the Crow Wing County Dive Team recovered a deceased male in 17 feet of water approximately 15 feet off the end of the dock at the boat launch. The deceased male was identified as 69 year old William Elliott of Deerwood. Elliot was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office and the cause of death is pending.

--There has been an uptick in scam phone calls again including one to the Foley Police Department. Foley Police Department posted on Facebook that they had received a call from someone claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House. After an argument with the man, police continued to tell him he had called the police department. Then, he ended the call. The police department was then informed by Sauk Rapids, Rice and Royalton have also reported scams of a similar nature being called in by residents that state they won a prize and need bank information to receive it. Police stated that you should NOT ever give out any personal information over the phone unless you are absolutely sure you know who you are talking to. The Publishers Clearing House scammer asks callers for their bank account information under the guise of transferring them money they won in a contest. That's a scam. Do not give out that information. If you get a call from a family member saying they are in trouble and need money, Confirm with other family members first and as for a call back number if they say they are in jail, hang up call law enforcement and they can verify this for you. Also local police state that you should let the police department or your county sheriff's office know if you believe you have been scammed.

--For the second time in a few months along longtime central Minnesota high school coach as died. The ROCORI community is mourning the loss of legendary Spartans coach Bob Brink, who passed away Saturday at age 84. Brink began coaching the Spartan basketball team from the school's first year in 1969 until his retirement in 2012. Brink's 42-year coaching career at ROCORI included a Class AA state championship in 1988, 14 state tourney appearances, 22 conference championships and nine "Coach of the Year" awards. Brink's teams posted a 936-327 record. Back on August 25th longtime Little Falls Flyer Girls Basketball coach Jerry Cool died. Cool led the Flyer Girls State Titles in 1980 and 1984.

--Sam from Rural Minnesota CEP spoke on KLTF yesterday and stated the Job Fair is 1-4pm on Thursday at the CEP/Career Force parking lot which is the old Crestliner building with currently 64 employers on hand from manufacturing, large companies, grocery stores, assisted living facilities and other local companies including some moving to Little Falls for those to check out. If you are looking for a job or looking to move up to a another career for any ages from teenager to senior citizens and beyond who want to work come to the Job Fair 1-4pm Thursday there will also be a food truck to supply food and refreshments during the event on Thursday. All welcome.

--Two men have been sentenced to prison for their roles in a methamphetamine distribution ring in greater Minnesota. According to court documents, 35-year-old Jonathan Listrom, of Circle Pines, conspired with 53-year-old Steven Johnson, of Glenwood, to sell methamphetamine in the Alexandria area. On August 25, 2019, police arrested Johnson in Alexandria on an outstanding warrant and found 240 grams of methamphetamine in his vehicle. On August 27, 2019, police arrested Listrom in Alexandria with 886 grams of 99 percent pure methamphetamine that he intended to distribute to Johnson. On January 23, 2020, Listrom was arrested again with approximately 70 grams of methamphetamine. Listrom pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced on October 6, to 16 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release. Johnson pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced 10 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release.

--The American Red Cross is in great need of blood and will be hosting a blood drive in Little Falls on October 26th from 1-7pm, October 27th 12-6pm and October 28th from 8:30am-2:30pm at First United Church located at 1000 1st Street SE, Little Falls. You can make an appointment online at www.redcrossblood.org or call Sister Julien Dirkes at 320-632-0663. We ask that if you have an appointment scheduled and need to change or cancel it, please contact Sister so someone else can use your timeslot. Anyone who is at least 16 years of age (please bring parental consent), weighs at least 110 pounds and is considered to be in good health may be eligible to donate blood. There is no upper age limit, and the time commitment is minimal to help save lives by giving blood.

--Pierz Healy High School will have parent-teacher conferences today from 4:30-7pm at the high school. The school stated that this will be only in person conferences and there will be NO virtual conferences.
