NEWS
--Little Falls City Administrator Jon Radermacher gave a city update yesterday on KLTF. Jon stated that the groundbreaking for the 50 unit apartment complex in southeast Little Falls was last week and is to be completed by late summer early fall next year. Work is expected to start on the golf course (some has already) in the months ahead with a new complex to be in place by June if all goes as planned. Work on the fire hall, police station and city hall are also still planned with bids underway and work to begin into 2024. The budget is still being finalized before the truth and taxation hearing in December. Public Works said that road projects are starting to wind down, they have one more mill and overlay on 1st Street by City Hall and the exempt railroad tracks that will cause some delays in the next few weeks for those traveling on 1st Street. The 18th and 11th Street projects should be completed by the end of the week if not already. The leaf and brush pickup is Saturday starting at 6am, untied bags must be placed on the curb before then. Jon also wants all coming to the Trick or Treat event next Tuesday from 3:30-5pm at many chamber businesses. Any questions on the city items, call 616-5500.

--The Morrison County Sheriff's Office back on Saturday got an ATV theft complaint from a residence located off Highway 115, east of Randall. The ATV is a yellow 2006 Yamaha Raptor 700R, bearing plate number 781VR. A picture was posted on the sheriff's office Facebook page. --A registered nurse has been indicted for fraudulently obtaining prescription opioid pain medications from a hospice clinic. Cambie Elizabeth Broker, 33, of Aitkin, was a registered nurse case manager at a hospice clinic in Baxter. Broker entered false prescription requests into the clinic’s e-prescribing software to fraudulently obtain oxycodone, hydromorphone, and fentanyl for illegal sale and personal use. This case is the result of an investigation conducted by the DEA and the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Bradley M. Endicott is prosecuting the case. Broker also faces six felony charges in Crow Wing County related to the theft of prescription medications. In a statement to police, Broker admitted to stealing numerous prescription medications of oxycodone prescribed to hospice patients, that she had been doing this for about two to three months because she needed the money and that she was selling them for $25 per tablet, according to the complaint. Broker’s interim conditions of release on the Crow Wing County charges include remaining law abiding, no alcohol or controlled substance use, submit to chemical testing and having no contact with the victims, among others. Her next hearing in Crow Wing County District Court is scheduled for November 7th.

--Little Falls Radio is saddened to learn of the passing of Lee Mortenson. Mortenson and her husband Al who passed away in 2022 were the driving force for many years of Albany Pioneer Days every year in September and also Lee worked on a guest list and other items when KLTF Party Line would go down to Albany each September. Lee also was a part of the Greater Minnesota 2 Cylinder Club each May in Little Falls. LF Radio sends condolences out to the entire Mortenson family on their loss. Her memorial service will be on Saturday at the Pioneer Days Showgrounds in Albany at 11am.

--Hockey Day in Minnesota in 2025 is planned to be at Valleyfair in Shakopee that will set up a large outdoor hockey rink for the games.

--A 53-year-old Columbia Heights woman was injured back on October 17th after a vehicle she was riding in was struck on Highway 371 in Nisswa. The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash, reported at 9:08pm. According to the report, a 2018 Jeep Cherokee was northbound on the highway when it attempted to turn left onto County Highway 77 and was struck by a 2007 Pontiac G6 that was traveling southbound. A passenger in the Jeep, Roxann Rochelle Schulz, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center. The driver of the Pontiac, Cheyenne Rose Bryant, 20, of Pequot Lakes, and the driver of the Jeep, Douglas Charles Haataja, 53, along with his passenger, Stephanie Jo Haataja, 51, both of Lake Shore, all suffered no injuries.

--The St. Francis Convent is having a Red Cross blood drive next week, Monday 1-7pm Tuesday 12-6pm and Wednesday 8:30-2:30. There are plenty of openings on Tuesday and Wednesday for appointments and limited slots Monday, call Sister Julien 632-0663.

--The world’s largest pumpkin, fresh off its record-setting win at the World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-off in California, Travis Gienger’s pumpkin, weighing in at over 2,700 pounds, will be on display in Foley today. The event is today from 10am-5pm at the end of 4th Avenue North in Foley with yard games, snacks and other contests.

NATIONAL NEWS
--Some Republicans behind closed doors voted Minnesota 6th District Congressman Tom Emmer as Speaker of the House Tuesday however just hours later Emmer dropped out of the race knowing he would not the full support of GOP colleagues for the Speaker position.

WS= Arizona won game 7 last night over Philadelphia meaning that the Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers are in the World Series this year with Game 1 scheduled for Friday night.
