NEWS
--Little Falls Community Schools has announced their homecoming Queen and King candidates. For Queen Trista Theimer, Rachel Josephson, Camilla Johnson, Claire Zack and Ava Filippi. For King Maxwell Dempsey, Alex Gwost, Sullivan Gwost, Samuel Bellefeuille and Luke Kurowski. The theme for homecoming is “Fly Thru the Thunder.” The queen and king will be crowned Monday night at 7:00pm at the High School. On Friday October 11th, a homecoming pepfest will be held at 9am, then the Homecoming Parade at 2pm, a tailgate party with Little Falls Radio and participating sponsors starts at 5pm and then the Flyers take on the Zimmerman Thunder at 7pm. Listen to the game live on AM960 KLTF. The week concludes with a dance Friday night from 9pm to midnight.

--On May 22nd, 2019 Morrison County Deputy Bill Vanden Avond was placed in a situation which necessitated the use of force to apprehend Robert Anderson on charges of felony domestic assault. The incident resulted in serious injury to Anderson. The incident was investigated by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Per BCA protocol, the file was submitted to the Morrison County Attorney Brian Middendorf to determine whether the actions of law enforcement were justified and therefore legal under Minnesota Statute for lawful force. Following that review, the use of less lethal force was determined to be justified. Accordingly, the matter is now closed. The entire letter and the BCA findings are in a public file at the Morrison County Attorney's office to view.

--Morrison County Department of Public Works announced that the detour east of Genola will remain in effect through today as maintenance work was unable to be completed on Wednesday. CSAH 37 (Partridge Road) will be closed between CSAH 38 (133rd Street) and County Road 240 (113th Street) traffic will be detoured while the project is being conducted. The project is estimated to be completed by the end of work today. Please follow the detour and all traffic control devices through the construction area.

--Seven former service-members will be inducted into the Minnesota National Guard Court of Honor during a ceremony on Camp Ripley October 6, 2019. Individuals who have distinguished themselves during their military service and within their communities have been memorialized at Camp Ripley since 1933. These memorializations, are often inscribed on road ways, buildings, and training areas as an honor to those who have served with such accreditation. In more recent years, the names of the memorialized individuals are inscribed in the Court of Honor, an outdoor monument plaza located within the grounds of the Minnesota Military Museum on Camp Ripley. This year’s Honorees include Maj. Gen. (Ret) Gerald E. Lang of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota; Col. (Ret) April M. Corniea of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; Col. (Ret) Wayne M. Hayes of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; Col. (Ret) Eric D. Kerska of Rochester, Minnesota; Col (Bvt) (Ret) Warren G. Herreid of Minnetrista, Minnesota; Chief Warrant Officer 5 (Ret) Ronald L. Peterson of Edina, Minnesota; Command Sgt. Maj. (Ret) Curtis S. Jasper of Oak Grove, Minnesota; Command Sgt. Maj. (Ret) Cynthia A. Kallberg of Azle, Texas. The public is invited to attend this ceremony, which starts at 1pm at the Recreation Center, just across from the large education center building on Camp Ripley. An unveiling ceremony will begin at 3:45pm at the Minnesota Military Museum along Infantry Road.

--Coborn's Inc. says they are recalling 10 select chicken salad products due to a possible Listeria contamination. The products were sold mostly in their delis. Listeria monoctogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly and others with weakened immune systems. In a news release, Coborn's says their supplier Tip Top Poultry Inc. in Rockport, Georgia is recalling all their chicken materials produced between January 21st and September 24th. Products Recalled Include:

The recalled products were distributed and sold at Coborn's and Cash Wise Stores in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, and Marketplace Foods stores in Western Wisconsin. Coborn's says they have pulled all products that may have been affected and anyone who have purchased these products should destroy them or return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund. No illnesses have been reported.

--The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says a 17-year-old runaway from Kimball has been located and is safe. The sheriff's office sent out a news release Wednesday saying Tyler Curtis did not return from a football game last Friday. Curtis has been found safe.

--Central Lakes Search and Rescue (CLSAR) of Central Minnesota announced it has been awarded a $2,500 grant investment from the Petco Foundation to support its efforts in training mission tested and ready K-9 teams for search and rescue efforts. Central Lakes Search and Rescue is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist lawful search and rescue agencies in locating missing person by providing trained dogs and other resources serving Central Minnesota, the upper Midwest, and other areas as requested. Since 1998, CLSAR has been providing immediate first aid to save lives, educating the public about search and rescue, and assisted in finding missing people throughout the State of Minnesota.
