NEWS
--The Morrison County Sheriff's Office released a couple more details about the fatal ATV accident on Sunday. The name of the passenger that was killed Sunday was 9-year old Gage Beumer of Hillman. The sheriff's office stated that neither the driver nor passenger were wearing seatbelts. This case remains under investigation.

--A Clearwater man is dead after his pickup was struck from behind Sunday morning. It happened on Stearns County Road 45 west of Clearwater at around 6:30am. A sheriff's deputy came across the scene shortly after the collision on County Road 45 near 6th Avenue. Authorities say 56-year old Donald Zwilling had been northbound on the highway and had stopped to inspect front-end damage from a suspected collision with a deer. A second pickup driven by 37-year old Jay Kangas of Kimball was also northbound and collided with Zwilling's truck. The impact pushed the first truck forward and pinned Zwilling underneath, killing him. The pickup Kangas was driving rolled as a result of the collision. He suffered minor injuries.

--The Minnesota State Patrol reported a fatal accident involving a semi-truck at 8:21pm Monday on Highway 71 in Getty Township of Stearns County. A semi was turning left onto 71 and collided with an oncoming vehicle driven by 74-year-old Patricia Bromenshenkel of Sauk Centre who was pronounced dead at the scene. The 25-year-old semi-truck driver from Belgrade, Francois Kitshoff was treated at the scene and was not hospitalized.

--The Great River Children's Museum in downtown St. Cloud has just received its second $1 million donation. Barbara and Rollie Anderson have pledged $1 million for sponsorship of the "Great River" exhibit. In the Great River exhibit, museum goers will learn about the importance of water as habitat, a means of transportation for commerce as well as a lifeline for communities. Barbara and Rollie Anderson own Anderson Trucking Services. The Andersons join the Coborn Family Foundation as the museum's first two exhibit sponsors. The Great River Children's Museum is built in downtown St. Cloud in the former Liberty Bank building along 7th Avenue.

--A Crow Wing County man has been charged for allegedly not paying taxes over a three-year period. The Minnesota Department of Revenue says the Crow Wing County Attorney's Office recently charged Timothy Nunn of Pequot Lakes with three felony counts of failing to file income tax returns and three felony counts of failing to pay income tax. According to the complaint, Nunn failed to file his state income tax returns from 2018 through 2020. The complaint states Nunn earned enough income during those years doing tiling and other work to be required to file taxes. According to the complaint, Nunn owes over $72,700. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.

--Governor Tim Walz is calling on lawmakers to approve a series of new measures to respond to the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, including vaccine and testing requirements for teachers and school staff, and for long-term care workers. The governor detailed his proposal in a letter to lawmakers that he released after meeting privately with legislative leaders. Walz urged them to approve the measures during a special session that was originally envisioned for last month to approve a $250 million bonus package for frontline workers who risked their lives in the pandemic. Negotiations on that plan have yet to produce an agreement.

--There is an open house for the Pierz Fire Department today with some free food, tours of the remodeled facility, demonstrations and drawings from 4:30-7pm in Pierz all are invited to attend.

--The Benton County Jail Inmate search portal that has been offline for many months due to technical issues with the program and logistical issues with our vendor is now back up and running. --The former Minneapolis police officer who fatally shot a woman who called 911 to report a possible rape behind her home is being resentenced this month, after the Minnesota Supreme Court threw out his murder conviction. Mohamed Noor was initially convicted of murder and manslaughter in the 2017 death of Justine Ruszczyk Damond, a dual U.S.-Australian citizen. He was sentenced to 12 1/2 years in prison on the murder count. But the Supreme Court ruled last month that the 3rd degree murder statute wouldn't apply in Noor's case, so that conviction was tossed out. Noor is still convicted of manslaughter and will be sentenced on October 21st. If sentenced to the presumptive four years for manslaughter, he could be eligible for supervised release around the end of this year.

--Pierz Schools announced that they are pleased to have their Veterans Day Program returning on November 11th. The program will have members of each of the Pierz schools, the American Legion and Auxiliary and other dignitaries at 9:30am on November 11th at the Pierz Healy High School. The plan now is to have guests attend and the school stated it will also be available on their U-tube page.

--The St. Gabriel's Hospital Advocates present the White Sidewalls Rock n Roll Revue on October 22nd at the Falls Ballroom. Tickets are $25 pre sale or $30 at the door and presale tickets can be purchased as the St. Gabriel's Hospital gift shop. This is a fundraiser for the advocates to continue with their services throughout the year.

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS
--After Apple+ announced they were taking the Charlie Brown specials off TV, Public Broadcasting announced they the specials will again air this year on some PBS channels and their cable affiliates. It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown will air October 24th, Charlie Brown Thanksgiving November 21st and Charlie Brown Christmas on December 19th all at 6:30pm on PBS and the PBS Kids cable channel.
