NEWS
--Yesterday the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 8000 Block off Highway 25 south of Pierz near Buckman. Prior to the search warrant, the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force started an investigation where Becky Lee Knese, 45, of Buckman, who was suspected of selling methamphetamine throughout Central Minnesota. Investigators were able to purchase methamphetamine from Knese which lead them to the search warrant in Buckman During the search warrant Investigators located methamphetamine and other items associated with controlled substance sales. Knese was located when the search warrant was executed, and she was transported to Stearns County jail where she was booked on charges of 1st degree controlled substance sales, 3rd degree possession of controlled substance and 5th degree possession of controlled substance. This investigation is still active, and more individuals are expected to be arrested in connection with this case. The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force was assisted by Morrison County SWAT Team, Morrison County Sheriff’s Office, Pierz Police Department and Pierz Fire Department. The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of Investigators from the St. Cloud, Sartell Police Departments and Deputies from Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, Todd and Morrison Counties.

--The next prescription take back event will be held on October 26th at Wal-Mart in Little Falls from 10am-2pm. You can turn in any unwanted, outdated or unused prescription drugs free of charge for proper disposal. The Sheriff's Office and other organizations remind you that disposing of your prescription drugs that you are not using safely this way will help in protecting our environment, families and community from these type of drugs getting into the wrong hands.

--Morrison County maintenance crews will continue mowing roadside ditches in the northwest part of the county as weather permits. Crews will be finishing culvert work along CSAH 37 east of Pierz, and County Road 265 in Freedhem. Public works will also be blading gravel roads in the county this week.

--A 32-year-old from Albany was injured Tuesday morning when she swerved to miss dead deer in a Stearns County roadway and crashed the vehicle on County Road 2 near St. Wendel. Kelly Lanners was traveling on the county road when she came upon a dead deer in the roadway. She swerved to miss it and drove into the east ditch striking a sign. Lanners’ two young sons were passengers in the rear seat and were not injured. They were using their seat belts and child restraint seats. Lanners, who was also wearing her seat belt, was transported to St. Cloud Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

--A fire marshal has ruled a fire Monday at the Lake George warming shelter in St. Cloud has been ruled arson. The fire department responded to the bathroom of the warming house at 425 East Lake Blvd. at about 5:43pm Monday to verify the fire was extinguished. According to the report, someone lit a toilet paper roll on fire; the fire self-extinguished. In March 2018, a fire in a trash can at the warming shelter caused $50,000 in damage. That fire was found in a trash can in one of the bathrooms; the fire caused smoke damage and burned a paper towel dispenser.

--Pictures from the Camp Ripley Court of Honor memorialization program were taken by Tony Wenzel who then sent them to Little Falls Radio to view, they are posted the LF Radio Facebook page.

--Little Falls Activities Director Kevin Jordan sent out an email that he has received calls from businesses in town that they received a call from someone wanting them to sponsor basketball posters from the school. Jordan stated that these schedules that ARE NOT contracted with Little Falls schools. They reportedly wanted the business owner to a PO Box. Again this is likely a scam and should be avoided.

--This is National 4-H Week. Becky Moe, Morrison County 4H Coordinator stated that October is the beginning of the 4-H year and enrollment is underway to find out about their programs they do throughout the year. This Thursday they are hosting a National Science Day gamechangers meeting, and their awards ceremony is coming up October 26th as there end of the year celebration. --The Royalton Public Library is hosting speaker and historian Doug Ohman on Heart of the Farms-Barns of Minnesota. The event is open to all ages to learn about barns and the heart of farming from his stories and works. Tonight 6-7pm at Royalton library and it's free.

--St. Cloud City Council unanimously approved Monday acquiring the former Technical High School for $1 from St. Cloud school district. The council also approved on separate 5-1 votes authorizing the city to enter into an agreement with JLG Architects and HMA Architects for $700,000 and an agreement with R.A. Morton & Associates for construction management services for $400,000. The city of St. Cloud plans to move its City Hall to the 1917 historic part of Technical High School. Community space would make up the 1938 part of the building. The plan would move city offices to the historic 1917 and 1938 parts of the building; the later additions would be razed for green space or other development possibilities. The council will need to approve the final plans before the renovation begins. Kleis anticipates the renovation and demolition costs to be between $6 million and $9 million.
