NEWS
--Attention residents living upstream of the Little Falls dam on the Mississippi River. Minnesota Power will lower the elevation of the Mississippi River approximately two-and-a-half feet starting this Saturday to perform maintenance and the minor work on the dam beginning on Monday, September 17th. Water levels will be back to normal by September 22nd. More information on this safety message from Minnesota Power can be found at mnpower.com.

--A three vehicle accident injured a pair of drivers. Around 5:35am Tuesday 58-year old Gregory Sanft of Minneapolis was heading north on Highway 10 at 113th Street in Little Falls Township when he collided with the back of a semi truck driven by 64-year old Timothy Calhoun of Little Falls. 46-year old Peter Isder of Little Falls was also travelling north when he rear ended Sanft's car. Both Peter Isder and Gregory Sanft were taken to St. Gabriel's Hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. All three drivers were wearing their seatbelts and no one else was injured.

--Pequot Lakes Police have released the name of the East Gull Lake man killed September 7th in an accident in Crow Wing County. 48-year old Jeffrey Scott Stirewalt died when his motorcycle was struck by a turning pickup truck and the two vehicles collided in Pequot Lakes. The truck driver, 69-year old Thomas Jacobson of Pine River was not injured in the accident. Stirewalt who was wearing a helmet was pronounced dead at the scene.

--Two people were arrested for their involvement in a burglary in Meeker County Sunday. The incident happened at 1:15pm in the 24000 block of County Road 24 in Dassel. A witness confronted the suspects and was able to get a license plate number before they left the scene. Deputies tracked the vehicle to a home in the 52000 block of Highway 12 in Grove City. 32-year old Kalie Nelson, of Litchfield, was arrested in connection to the burglary and for a drug violation. Police used a search warrant later Sunday night at a home in the 65000 block of 288th Street in Litchfield. Police found several items from the earlier burglary, and from previous thefts inside. Police arrested 39-year old Patrick Goodwin, of West St. Paul, for giving false information to police and having two outstanding warrants.

--Sunday around 12:30pm Stearns County reported a motorcycle accident in Avon Township. Deputies arrived to find that 31-year old Faith Eby of St. Joseph had left the roadway on a curve and flipped the cycle. Eby and a 12-year old passenger were both taken to the hospital and treated for non life threatening injuries.

--Duck Dynasty's Si Robertson is coming to St. Cloud. The reality show star will be speaking at the 40th annual Mayor's Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, November 15th. Robertson is expected to tell stories of life and faith as only he can tell them. Duck Dynasty was a reality series that ran on the A & E network from 2012 through March of last year. The annual Mayor's Prayer Breakfast starts at 6:30am on November 15th at the River's Edge Convention Center.

--The 16th Annual Brainerd Snowdeos grass drag and swap event for snowmobile grass drag racing, will be Saturday with racing beginning at 11am on the grass track on the east end of the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds. There is a tune and test event Friday at 6pm, swap meet Saturday at 7am, gates for the racing open Saturday at 9am at the fairgrounds. Food and beverages served. The cost is $5 at the gate with kids 12 and under free.

--The Bowlus Post Office is set to reopen today after temporarily closing September 2nd from concerns of possible mold in the facility. The facility at 172 Main Street in Bowlus was announced as closed due to visual evidence of water damage on walls, ceiling, building materials and floor coverings. There was evidence of deterioration in walls and windows, which could promote microbial growth. On Tuesday afternoon a new release announced operations would resume at the post office because it was "cleared for reoccupancy."

--The Brainerd Public Schools Board of Education approved the schematic design plans for Harrison Elementary, Nisswa Elementary and the new elementary school to be located in Baxter. The primary purpose of Schematic Design is to define and describe all the important aspects of the project. The next step in the process is Design Development. During this phase the design of the buildings is further defined and refined, including structure, mechanics, plumbing, electrical and interior finishes. The district expects to begin the design process on the other buildings in spring 2019.

--Even as the weather starts to cool, Minnesota's major crops are developing ahead of schedule. In its weekly crop progress and condition report for the state, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said Tuesday that 17 percent of the corn crop is mature. That's six days ahead of the average pace. The corn crop is rated 76 percent in good to excellent condition. Sixty percent of Minnesota's soybean crop has at least started turning color, and 24 percent of the crop is already dropping leaves, about three days ahead of the five-year average. The condition of the soybean crop improved slightly over the past week to 71 percent good to excellent. Sugarbeet farmers are preparing to begin harvesting, and 75 percent of the crop is rated in good to excellent condition.

COL FB= Gopher's running back Rodney Smith tore his ACL ligament in his knee Saturday vs. Fresno State and it was reported on Monday that he will miss the rest of the 2018 season. The Gophers host Miami of Ohio Saturday at 1:30pm on AM960 KLTF.
TWINS= Joe Mauer blasted a grand slam as the Twins beat the Yankees last night 10-5 at Target Field. Twins wrap up series with Yankees tonight, pregame at 6:30pm on Q92 WYRQ.
