NEWS
--As weather permits, maintenance employees will be working on the following activities this week: mowing roadside ditches in various spots around the county. Patching potholes on CSAH 1, County Road 204 and CSAH 3 north of Randall. Installing driveway culverts on CSAH 51 in Harding and County Road 265 east of Freedhem. Please use caution around work crews and flashing lights.

--Aitkin County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in locating 29 year old Abbey Piner. Piner's last possible location was in the St. Paul area and may be using a false or different name like Abbey Ingvaldson. If anyone know os her wherebouts please contact the sheriff's office 218-927-7400 or your local law enforcement agency. She is orignially from Aitkin County and her family is concerned about her whereabouts since she has not contacted them.

--The harvest season is in full swing and with it comes extra farm equipment on Central Minnesota roads. The Benton County Sheriff's Office is asking motorists to allow this equipment extra time and space. Fall means cooler weather and all things pumpkin spice. But it also means harvest time for the people who grow our food. Farm equipment will be hitting the roads and fields in force over the next few weeks. Please watch for these large, slow moving vehicles and give them plenty of space that is from Sheriff Troy Heck.

--A Watkins man faces several felony charges after allegedly raping and assaulting a woman Sunday. A criminal complaint filed in Stearns County District Court shows 41-year old Aaron Voigt is charged with 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct, felony threats of violence, 3rd-degree assault causing substantial bodily harm, and domestic assault by strangulation. A woman called 911 at around 3:45 Sunday morning to report she had been assaulted. Officers arrived to find the woman bruised, with swollen eyes, a cut above one of her eyes, and a swollen lip. She told police that he became angry that she was on her phone, pulled her from the car, punched and kicked her, and sexually assaulted her. The woman said at one point he shoved his hand into her mouth so she couldn't breathe and choked her. Voigt said the woman started acting crazy on the way home and that he never touched her. He allegedly said the woman's injuries must have been self-inflicted or caused by her falling.

--A Waite Park woman faces criminal charges after allegedly using her car to ram a garage door Sunday. Thirty-six-year-old Jennifer Weismann is charged with felony threats of violence and misdemeanor domestic assault. According to the criminal complaint, 911 dispatch received three separate calls indicating a woman was repeatedly ramming a garage door with her car. One of the calls came from a man who was inside the garage. Records show the man had gone to the home to retrieve his belongings to move out. He told police the woman rammed the vehicle into the garage approximately 15 times and also used a bat to try to break into the service door entry. Court records show Weismann admitted to arresting officers that she rammed the garage, and knew the man was inside.

--The City of Genola will hold a curbside clean-up day for residents and businesses within the city limits of Genola on October 5th. Items mus be placed on the curbside before 7am. The City of Genola is accepting 2 appliances per household, 1 television or computer, four car tires or two truck tires or 2 tractor tires per household. No Household Hazardous Waste will be accepted. Questions can be directed to Tammy Giuliani at 320-630-0743.

--The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a male subject posted on their facebook page off of surveillance cameras around a local ATM. If you have any information on the identity of this person, please contact the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office (320) 632-9233 and ask to speak with an Investigator.

--St. Cloud police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection to an assault that happened back on September 18th. Just after 1:30am officers were called to a fight in the 700 block of 8th Street South. The responding officers eventually found a 20-year-old man in a nearby home that had injuries to his head and face. He was brought to St. Cloud Hospital for injuries that were determined to be serious but not life-threatening. Based on information developed through the investigation probable cause was developed to arrest the suspect, 20-year-old Ezayah Gomez Oropreza of Burnsville. Gomez Oropreza was located in the 600 Block of University Drive S. and was taken into custody without incident. On September 25th St. Cloud State University released the following statement about the incident: SCSU is aware of an off-campus incident between a student athlete and a student on 9/18. It is under investigation by the St. Cloud Police Department. The university takes these incidents seriously as the safety of students and employees is a top priority. The university is moving forward with its process for investigating and addressing student conduct. The student athlete has been suspended indefinitely from participating in activities related to their team. More information will be included in the criminal complaint which will be available through the Stearns County Attorney’s Office when completed.

--Join local comedien Jason Schommer and local musician Michael Shynes for Straight Outta Quartantine a night of music and comedy at Great River Arts Friday at 7:30pm. Tickets sold at the event or online at the GRA website. Doors open at 6:30pm.

--Holy Trinity Catholic School in Pierz will host its annual “Steak and Wine” fundraiser on Saturday October 9th. The event will be held at Frosty’s Bar and Grill on Main Street in Pierz.Doors open at 5pm, with dinner being served from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Two auctions will be held, an in-person auction, and an online auction. The online auction starts October 1st and runs through the 9th closing at 9pm on the night of the event. The in-person live auction runs from is from 8-10pm that night.
