NEWS
--There will be a curbside open house today at Dr. S.G. Knight Elementary in Randall for students Kindergarten through 5th Grade from 4-6pm for students to meet their teachers and find out more about the school year at Dr. S.G. Knight in Randall.

--Authorities are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian in St. Cloud. Officers with the St. Cloud Police Department were called to the intersection of University Drive South and 7th Avenue South on Friday just before 7:30pm. Officers determined that a small SUV driven by 32-year-old Sarah Ruedy of St. Cloud was westbound on University Drive in the outside lane. An 81-year-old female pedestrian, identified as Khadija Hussein of St. Cloud, was walking southbound in the 900 block of 7th Avenue South. The preliminary investigation indicates Hussein entered the roadway at University Drive and was then hit by the SUV. Authorities say Ruedy stopped and remained on the scene while bystanders and first responders gave Hussein medical attention. Hussein was taken to St. Cloud Hospital by Mayo Ambulance and died several hours later. Her body was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. Ruedy was not hurt. Authorities say she has remained cooperative with the investigation. The cause of the accident remains under investigation and is actively being worked by Investigators with the St. Cloud Police Department Criminal Investigation Unit.

--Another day with with COVID-19 numbers continuing to decline as there were 502 new cases on Tuesday with 6 new deaths linked to the virus. Of the new cases 2 were in Morrison County, 20 in Stearns, 7 in Benton, 2 in Crow Wing and 2 in Todd County. Morrison County now stands at 119 positive cases since testing began with 1 death. 17 cases in Morrison County in the past 14 days of data.

--The St. Cloud Police Department (SCPD) is asking the public for information about a woman who's been missing for more than two weeks. According to an SCPD news release 27-year-old Jeanette Ozuna of Clearwater was last seen on Aug. 15, when she was on a visit to the St. Cloud Library with her group home. Police said Ozuna left the group and walked away. Officers said Ozuna has a history of walking away from group homes, but they are concerned about her welfare. While she was last seen in St. Cloud, police believe she may be in the Twin Cities area. Police said Ozuna is 4-foot-11 and approximately 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information is asked to contact their local police department.

--Three life flight helicopters responded to a crash involving a St. Cloud woman in Hubbard County. The crash happened at about 10:30am Saturday on County Road 33 south of Nevis in Hubbard County. Two people had to be extricated from the vehicle. 41-year old Meghan Faundeen of St. Cloud was driving the car when it went off the road and went airborne and hit an approach. She received multiple injuries and was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center. Two teenage passengers also suffered serious injuries with one also flown to HCMC and the other to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. A fourth teenage passenger had a broken wrist and treated in Park Rapids.

--Due to city offices being closed Monday for Labor Day, the next Little Falls City Council meeting will be Tuesday at 7:30pm at the city hall council chambers. A work session will precede the meeting.

--There is a rescheduled car show tonight at the Too Tall Tavern in Cushing starting at 4:02-7:02pm. The car show was to be back on August 12th but due to rain was postponed to tonight in Cushing.

--Morrison/Crow Wing County Corn Growers will hold its growers plot day today from 3:30-7pm. The Plot is located SE of Buckman at 7256 260th Avenue. --The University of Minnesota has announced its move-in plan for the Duluth, Rochester and Twin Cities campuses this fall. After delaying the move-in date by two weeks, the U of M will allow students to move into residence halls beginning next week, with different dates for different locations. The strategy includes a partial quarantine for several days, and curfews for at least the first five weeks. Students will begin moving into the Duluth residence halls September 9th, Twin Cities September 15th and Rochester September 18th. While most undergraduate classes at those campuses will be offered through distance learning the first two weeks of the semester, the university now has a four-step plan for transitioning to in-person activities. Of course the schools said if the numbers of COVID-19 spike in the next few weeks this could all change again like for other schools too.

--American Red Cross bloodmobile 12pm-6pm Thursday at the Randall VFW, you are asked to set an appointment first at the website www.redcrossblood.org before coming to the VFW for safety.

NATIONAL SPORTS NEWS
--President Donald J. Trump Tuesday said that he had talked with Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren about the conference. Trump’s conversation with the commissioner comes after discussions among those in the Big Ten about the possibility of the conference starting its postponed football season in November. On Monday, the Big 10 Conference voted 11-3 (Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska voted to start games by November) not to have football for the remainder of 2020. Just last week, Trump said that the Big Ten and “all other football” should be back “now.” The Big Ten is one of four conferences at the top level of college football not playing football this fall, the President feels that this should not be the case.
