NEWS
--A Bloomington man faces charges after crashing his vehicle in Morrison County. Authorities responded to a three-vehicle crash in Swanville just before 9:30pm Friday. The Morrison County Sheriff's Office says 52-year-old Duane Hoffman was heading north on Balcony Road when he struck two parked vehicles. Hoffman was taken to St. Gabriel's Hospital with minor injuries. His passenger, 52-year-old Anthony Notermann of Swanville, was also taken to St. Gabriel's Hospital with unknown injuries. Authorities say Hoffman is being held in the Morrison County Jail pending DWI charges.

--Crow Wing County Sheriff Scott Goddard reports that on Monday at approximately 1:37pm the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office responded to Northstar Camp, located at 11287 Eagleview Drive, Brainerd, for a report that a staff member from a school in southern Minnesota, who was with a group of students on a weekend retreat, had gone under water. Upon arrival, Deputies learned a student, who was with the group, was able to retrieve the victim, a 30 year old male from Hutchinson. Deputies, along with North Memorial Ambulance administered life saving measures. The victim was transported to St Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd, where he was later pronounced deceased. The 30‐year‐old male from Hutchinson, has been identified as Alan Garcia of Hutchinson. Authorities state that the death is being investigated but believed to be accidental.

--A 13-year-old Motley girl died in a boating accident Sunday in Cass County. The Cass County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened at about 10pm on Sunday on Ten Mile Lake near Hackensack. The boat was being driven by a 50-year-old man from Horace, North Dakota when it was going along the shore and possibly struck something on or near the shoreline causing the boat to abruptly stop.
The girl was thrown forward in the boat. She was later pronounced dead. The driver of the boat received minor injuries. The victims are relatives who were staying at a family cabin. Their names have not been released pending notification of family by Cass County.

--A three-year-old McGregor boy suffered life-threatening injuries in a one-vehicle rollover on Labor Day in Aitkin County. The Minnesota State Patrol reported Ernest Roy Vendermey was flown to Children’s Minnesota Hospital in St. Paul after the vehicle he was in rolled over Monday around 12:43pm on Highway 210. 31-year old Sally Ann Vandermey of McGregor, was driving west on Highway 210 near 230th Avenue and was pulling a Bobcat when it lost control, entered the north ditch and came to a rest on its roof. Sally Vandermey and the other passenger, infant Elsy Beck Vandermey, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. All three people were wearing seat belts. The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office, McGregor Fire and Ambulance and North Memorial Health Air Care assisted at the scene.

--A Monticello man died in a rollover in Meeker County. The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened Monday at about 5:45pm in Kingston Township. A car was going south on Highway 15 when it went off the road, overcorrected and rolled. A 22-year-old Monticello man died in the crash. A four-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries and an infant was not hurt in the crash. Authorities have not released names yet from the accident.

--Just a reminder that though many schools returned to class yesterday schools like Little Falls 7-8, 10-12th graders go back today, Royalton elementary and high school schools return to class today and Staples-Motley starts on Thursday. Please watch for students. Please remember to watch for buses and students out today.

--It is the busy weekend in Little Falls. Arts and Crafts take over the downtown area and over the bridge to the marketplace area on the west side of Little Falls put on the by the Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce. Over 600 vendors, food and items will be on display this weekend to enjoy 8-6 Saturday and 9-4 on Sunday. There will be shuttle buses from the fairgrounds to and from downtown. Deb Boelz on KLTF Tuesday stated there are 100 new vendors (either crafts, marketplace or food) this year including some hard to find items on the marketplace area on the west side of town. The list is available on the chamber website with the hopes of the written directories available by today at the chamber office in the depot. Also the West Little Fall Antiques and Collectibles Show will take place during the same hours at LeBourget Park on the west side of Little Falls with many unique items put on by the West Side Improvement Association. Sunday is the Lone Eagle Auto Club Auto Show at the fairgrounds starting at 7am with breakfast and lunch and hundreds of classic cars to view for $5 on Sunday at the fairgrounds. Little Falls Police Department is reminding those to expect congested areas, watch for pedestrians, be patient in heavy traffic flow areas. Remember that the railroad runs through the weekend and respect the trains going through the area. Keep belongings locked up when left unattended as they hope for a safe and successful weekend a few bad apples can ruin it so watch belongings, if you notice suspicious activity do not hesitate to contact police at 320-616-5570 or the sheriff's office at 320-632-9233 also State Troopers and also help with traffic flow at the intersections in downtown area to make it a safe weekend in Little Falls for Arts and Crafts Weekend.

--Attendance at the Minnesota State Fair in 2022 did very well but did not break any records which most were set in 2019. The final total for 2022 was 1,842,222 making it the 5th largest attended fair in the history of the Great Minnesota Get Together. Back in 2019 the fair broke 6 of the 12 attendance daily records and had over 2.2 million people go through the gates of the fair as they now look forward to the 2023 Minnesota State Fair next year.
